We stayed with Carl and Maria for 2.5 weeks. Both of them are very kind. Maria asked us every day if we needed anything and made sure we were doing well, which helped us feel comfortable very quickly. Working with Carl is a pleasure. We removed a lot of weeds, painted, swept, and cleaned up. We were also invited to dinner with them twice in the evening, which was a lot of fun each time. They are both very relaxed, communicative, and humorous people. The dog Tommy and the cat Maumau are wonderful—we will miss them too. Carl and Maria live in a beautiful place, which we really enjoyed. Thank you for everything.

I stayed with Valerio for three weeks, and for me he felt like an older brother. We connected from the very beginning and built a really genuine friendship. During my stay, I mainly worked with the land, as Valerio has very ambitious and inspiring projects. I also helped keep the house clean and prepared some good meals. On top of that, I had the chance to build some wooden furniture thanks to the woodworking workshop available — it was a very valuable experience and I learned a lot. In my free time, I got to try a bit of climbing, visit Alba, and most importantly just relax. The place is a real paradise: if you love nature, colors, and peace, this is definitely the right place for you. A special thanks also to the other “big brother” Yuri! In short, I absolutely loved these two guys — they are incredibly kind and made me feel comfortable from day one. Much love to you both! I highly recommend this experience, especially if you’re going through a tough or confusing period. It really helps you reconnect and appreciate the simple things in life. See you soon guys!

Monty came to my place for a short time as he was passing by, but made it very very efficently. This guy is a super hero for fixing all kind of stuff, he has so many skills that he adapt, teach you well, that just look like super powers !! He his easy going, fun and very pleasant to discuss with. We had a wonderfull time together, a HUGE thank you to him, you will be always welcome here.

It was both a great help and a great pleasure to have Julieta with us. She was an incredible support, in so many ways, from painting and redecorating one of our rooms and turning it into a gem, to taking breathtaking photos for our social media, to supporting at big events, to suggesting who could come next to take over from her. Apart from that, Julieta was incredibly fun to be around with, quickly became part of the community we have created and are part of here, made new friends, and even organized a workshop at the residency. Perhaps most importantly, she became an important thought partner and adviser on many things. Her mix of maturity and wisdom and life experience makes her a very special person. We all hope she will come back at some point, soon!

I had 3 amazing weeks at the foundation. It was a unique opportunity to get to learn and understand more about Sri Lanka and the culture. At the same time, it was also a way to be a part of something that truly makes a difference for the people of the island, something I noticed both during online classes, but especially when I was lucky enough to visit the family of one of the students. Some of the students have come from truly humble backgrounds, and gotten into prestigious schools on account of their English. Nanda is an incredibly hard working teacher, who also takes into consideration how you can contribute. The work for me mostly consisted of talking talking to the students about various topics, ranging from movies to world news and even Swedish culture to try to get them more comfortable with speaking English. This was done as an extra to his usual lessons, which I think was great. The anaradhapura-area of Sri Lanka is truly beautiful and special, think riding a bicycle through rice paddies, bathing in the canals and visiting historical monuments. I can warmly recommend volunteering with the academy for anyone.

We had an amazing stay at Roger and Brenda’s place in Manakau. From the start, Roger was a welcoming and friendly host who made us feel at home. The garden work was mainly weeding and mulching, very reasonable and not too hard. Roger never made us work too much, and it was always done in great company. We especially loved our morning smoko breaks and the quiz nights at the local pub. We had a fantastic experience and would highly recommend staying here!

Daniela volunteered for a month and a half. She is a dedicated and reliable professional whom I had the pleasure of working with. She is someone who truly respects the rules and takes her responsibilities in the store seriously. What sets her apart is her personality; she is wonderful to live with and knows how to maintain a harmonious environment at home. She is disciplined, respectful, and always willing to help. Anyone would be lucky to have her on their team or in their home!

I had a wonderful experience at Alex’s lovely place! I always have a big smile on my face when I think about it😊 I loved taking care of all the cute animals. It was my first time mucking out a chicken coop and a horse barn, and as Alex would say, it’s the best gym ever 😋 even better in such a beautiful setting, with a peaceful view, surrounded by silence and nature. I miss my almost daily walks in my wellies 🥲 A very special place in my heart belongs to Betty the goat, with whom I spent a lot of time. She was very shy at first, but in the end she ate cereal out of my hands, which I’m very proud of 😂 Next time I’ll cuddle her, that’s my next goal! Thank you, Alex, for this amazing time, for spending time together, for introducing me to your lovely friends and family, for trusting me with all your furry family members and for so many great memories 🥰 See you soon!!

thank you so much Claire for letting me had he chance to experience life on barbuda, thank you so much again. Barbuda is a really authentic carribean island and life on it can be hard sometimes. The house is beautiful but it is far from the beach and also from the village, the only village on there island so it can happen that you will be stuck in the house sometimes. Claire is a superb chef and she provides all the meals, the best food you can get on the island by far, delicious !!!!!! Life on barbuda is not for everybody but if you wanna challenge yourself this is the place to go!!!

Our stay at joseph's place was lovely, we had the opportunity to workout everyday in the big gym he owns. Joseph brought us by car to visit nice spots in the city All of the team in the gym was so nice ! We enjoyed also the morning runs !

I had the absolute pleasure of staying with Lloyd and Sharon for eight days, and it was easily one of the highlights of my travels. Eden is a truly beautiful part of the world, and they made sure that I got to fully appreciate it. The work was primarily focused on clearing trees to reduce the fire risk and also some general gardening. It was hard work but very rewarding, and Lloyd was a great teacher. I even got to drive a tractor and use a chainsaw for the first time! Furthermore, Lloyd and Sharon were great hosts and so generous with their time. They drove me to see local sights like the Pinnacles and Boydtown, and Lloyd even took me surfing one day. On my days off, they lent me a bike which gave me the freedom to explore the town and beach. I also saw my very first goannas and a dingo. Every night we had amazing home-cooked food, and they told me amazing stories about their family and life living in both Australia and the states. I feel like I learnt so much during my stay. I cannot recommend staying with Lloyd and Sharon enough. Thank you both for everything!

Staying with this family was a truly wonderful and meaningful experience. They welcomed me warmly, and I quickly felt like part of their family. I really enjoyed the time we spent together, the meals we shared, and everyday life with them. It is something I will always remember. They kindly taught me how to do the housework, and I really appreciated that they thanked me many times, which made me very happy. I was also very impressed that they always respected my wishes. It was my first time abroad and my first Workaway experience, but I felt very comfortable and at ease in their home. I am truly glad that I had the opportunity to stay with this family. I am sincerely grateful for everything. I would highly recommend this host to other Workawayers.

En: We spent two wonderful weeks with Ross and Shari. We had a lovely, cosy little cottage to ourselves. Their property is stunning; the children were able to spot wallabies and iguanas both up close and from a distance. We loved eating mangoes every day and sharing the delicious evening meals Shari cooked for us. Ross is a brilliant handyman and, together with Joseph, they shared this passion with us. I don’t know how to thank you for your kindness and generosity. You took the time to show us your favourite spots: walks, swimming, the cinema, and a music concert. Thank you for everything! I highly recommend it; it’s a place rich in shared experiences. Joseph, Emmanuelle and our four children. Fr: Nous avons passé deux belles semaines avec Ross et Shari. Nous avions à disposition une petite maison très confortable. Leur propriété est magnifique, les enfants ont pu voir de près et de loin des wallaby et des iguanes. Nous avons adoré manger des mangues tous les jours, partager les délicieux repas du soir que Shari nous préparait. Ross est un ingénieux bricoleur et, avec Joseph, ils ont beaucoup partagé cette même passion. Je ne serai comment vous remercier de votre gentillesse et générosité. Vous avez pris le temps de nous faire découvrir vos endroits préférés : balade, baignade, cinéma, concert de musique. Merci pour tout ! Je recommande, c'est un lieu riche de partage et d'expérience. Es war ja ziemlich spontan, dass du zu uns gekommen bist 😊 Du hast sehr schnell gelernt und hast überall mit angepackt. Auch wenn mal mehr Arbeit anstand hast du nicht gezögert zu helfen. Der Umgang mit unseren Hunden war stets sehr liebevoll, aber du konntest dich auch mal gut durchsetzen 😅 Du bist auch noch länger geblieben, als abgemacht war und dafür danken wir dir jetzt noch! Und du bist auch stets willkommen bei uns 🇸🇪🐕

Nina stayed with us for a week to help with various projects, from mowing grass, screwing in walls, to putting together furniture and other machinery parts. Nina is eager to learn new things and enthusiastically offers her help. We experienced Nina as an easygoing young woman, who fitted in with our lifestyle. We wish Nina well on her next adventures and can recommend her to other hosts.

Janae stayed with us for 2 weeks, Janae is a good worker , has a great sense of humor and very easy to work with , Janae worked on our gardens had a great knowledge of plants , great operator on the log splitter (9.5 out of10) , helped with farm chores and helped in the house . Janae thanks for all your help and would be most welcome to come back to stay .

There are very few people whose presence feels truly effortless, people who are genuinely open to learning, understanding, and also sharing their own perspective while remaining ready to embrace new ones. We feel Nicolas is one of those rare individuals. During his time here, he brought a deep sense of ease to the space. Through his presence, he naturally connected with everyone around him. He actively engaged in different forms of exchange, whether it was language, culture, or even food. These small but meaningful interactions created a beautiful environment of shared learning. What stood out most was his warm, calm, and consistently positive energy. He carries a natural smile and a gentle openness, which had a very positive impact on the children. They felt comfortable around him, and over time, we could see them opening up more freely. When we host someone, our intention is not only that they contribute, but also that they experience and absorb the culture, the food, and our philosophy of learning through nature. It makes us happy to see that Nicolas truly engaged with this process and carried it with him. Through his presence, his exchanges, and his simplicity, he contributed in a meaningful and lasting way. Nicolas is a wonderful human being, and we would wholeheartedly recommend hosting him to anyone who gets the opportunity.

A wonderful place and a wonderful hostess. We spent six fantastic weeks with the charming Titou and her lovely animals. A hug and her smile as a welcome made us feel right at home straight away. After a storm had knocked down a few trees, our daily routine for about half of our stay consisted of helping with the clear-up and woodwork. The work also included renovation and gardening tasks. But there was certainly no shortage of opportunities to be creative either! We were able to let our imaginations run wild painting furniture and laying mosaics. Anyone who comes here never wants to leave! Across the entire property, you can find painted stones, colourful furniture and other wonderful decorations. There is something to discover around every corner – every single day. But what truly gives this place its magic is Titou herself. She, her friends and the Workaways became our family during our stay, and we created unforgettable memories with them even outside of our daily work routine.
