Description
Hi, my name is Lindsay and I live with my family between Germany and Hungary. Throughout the year, we often change our location because we truly love both countries, each with its own unique charm.
In Hungary, we live very rurally in a house with a large garden, surrounded by nature and lots of peaceful space—perfect for anyone who enjoys being outdoors. A big part of our daily life is working with our dogs. My father trains hunting dogs and mainly uses our home in Hungary for this purpose, as we have plenty of space and great conditions for training.
We have German Shorthaired Pointers and absolutely love their energy, intelligence, and passion. Our dogs are an important part of our lives.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Living here is not just about staying in a house – it’s about becoming part of a small, welcoming community.
Our village life in Hungary is full of character and tradition. Throughout the year, there are local events and gatherings such as traditional festivals, village celebrations, and seasonal highlights like the well-known “Schlachtfest.” These are wonderful opportunities to experience authentic Hungarian culture, food, and hospitality.
What makes our area especially unique is the mix of cultures. Many of our neighbors are German-speaking, while at the same time there are many Hungarian locals. This creates a special atmosphere where you can experience both cultures side by side, pick up some of the language, and connect with people from different backgrounds.
We are well connected within the village and truly appreciate the strong sense of community. If you’re open and interested, it’s very easy to meet people, join local life, and feel at home here.
For us, cultural exchange means sharing everyday life, stories, traditions, and experiences – and we’re always happy to help you discover the area and introduce you to the people around us.
Help
In January and February next year, we won’t be able to stay in Hungary, so we are looking for someone who would like to live in our beautiful house during that time.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys a quiet, rural lifestyle. During your stay, we may ask you to look after one or two of our dogs, depending on the situation. This would mainly include feeding, spending time with them, and making sure they are well cared for.
We are looking for a responsible and trustworthy person who feels comfortable living independently and taking care of a home and dogs.
In return, we offer a peaceful home surrounded by nature, a car for your personal use so you can explore the area freely, and good living conditions including Wi-Fi and a fully equipped kitchen. There is also a wonderful thermal spa nearby, as well as a town within easy reach where you can spend your free time.

Accommodation
You will be staying in our spacious country house in Hungary, which is normally also rented out—so you can even take a look online beforehand to get a better impression of the place.
The house is very large and comfortable, offering four bedrooms and three bathrooms, a big living and dining area, and plenty of space to relax and enjoy your time. Outside, there is a large garden with lots of room to enjoy nature and spend time outdoors.
We also have a workshop, an outdoor kitchen, several seating areas in the garden, and even a sauna. The sauna is currently not in regular use, but if you would like to use it during your stay, it would just need a bit of preparation beforehand.
Overall, you’ll have a lot of space, privacy, and comfort—perfect for enjoying a peaceful stay in the countryside.
What else ...
Our house is located in a small village, close to the well-known spa town of Bük in western Hungary—an area that offers a great mix of nature, culture, and relaxation.
One of the highlights nearby is the famous thermal spa in Bük, which is perfect for unwinding, especially during the colder months. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and ideal for long walks, bike rides, or simply enjoying the peaceful rural atmosphere.
There are also several charming towns nearby, such as Sopron, which is known for its historic old town, cafés, and cultural life. The Austrian border is very close, making it easy to take day trips—even to Vienna, which is only about an hour away and offers endless possibilities for sightseeing, museums, and city life.
The region is also a paradise for food lovers. There are many excellent local restaurants and traditional Hungarian “csárdas” nearby, where you can enjoy authentic dishes, as well as cozy cafés and more modern dining options. Whether you’re looking for a relaxed lunch or a special dinner, there are plenty of great places to discover.
Overall, the area offers a wonderful balance between peaceful countryside living and exciting places to explore. We’re always happy to share our favorite spots and help you make the most of your stay.

Other dogs are generally not a problem for us, as we are very used to having dogs around. However, it’s important that they are well-behaved, social, and comfortable around other dogs, especially active hunting dogs. If you plan to bring your dog, we would just like to discuss it in advance to make sure it’s a good fit for everyone.
