  • Description

    Greetings dear stranger,
I hope you are feeling well. I am called Nicolas. 🍐

What inspires me the most is probably helping to imagine, shape, create safe and welcoming community places for every living creature. I think that we live on this mervellous planet to share experiences, to exchange knowlege and to communicate joy to one another. Sometimes it does get rough and overwhelming though. That is where travelling and meeting different perspectives on life becomes especially important - at least for me, it is an opportunity to transform, grow and evolve. Indeed, the last few years I have learned that in order to thrive, we need movement and shall not be afraid of changes. 🦋
I have become more and more aware of this through both my intellectual backgroung in philosophy and my practical enthusiasm in gardening, which I always try to combine in my daily life (and now my travels). I believe that the future of the terrestrial community we belong to mainly depends on the ideas and the seeds we collectively cultivate in today's heads and soils. Therefore, I sure am an ardent reader of all kind of thoughts, and all the more a passionate caretaker of the earth we live on. 🌻

Thus, when spending time togeher, we can either have deep conversations on many topics (ecology being one of my favourite), but we can also just sit in silence, enjoy the presence of being and meditate. I usually find peace and amazement in the simple things. Yet, I rarely step back in front of any given effort or danger, and I am eager to learn new skills. I like to get things organised because it helps me clear out my own mental space; nevertheless, a genuine adventure also includes some spontaneity and surely a bit of craze. 🎭

    Now, let's meet, don't you think ?

    Om Shanti Om 🕉️ 🌕

After finishing secondary school in Luxembourg, I have received an higher education in philosophy - first in Lyon, France; then in Brussel, Belgium. Here, I have completed a master's degree in ethics, with a specification in environmental ethics. Then, I have continued my studies in political philosophy. My centre of interest are political ecology and the philosophies of life/living.
During the last few years, my research topic has brought me closer to the cultivation of the soil, to farming and to the many actors involved in that field. Hence, I've had the chance to exchange with people of different disciplines and learn from their experience. However, I have not only met inspiring people, I have also started to dive my own fingers into the ground. As a matter of fact, for the last 4 years, I have been greatly participating to the collective vegetable garden located on my university campus. Here I've had my first encounter with the principles of permaculture and living earth culture. Yet, there is still a lot that I want to learn. Nevertheless, I am used manipulating tools and working outside in many conditions. I profoundly love to take care of the soil underneath my feet and the living creatures that inhabit it.
Furthermore, I speak, read and write fluently in French, English, German and Luxembourgish (yes, that's is an existing language !).

Juggling between intellectual work and manual labour has enable me to to become quite flexible and adaptable to many situation. I really like helping people out in their projects, and if I can learn new skills by doing that, all the better !
For the future, I would like to pursue my studies with a PhD in philosophy. Simultaneously, I want to seek training in agroecology and agroforestry.

  • What else ...

I have played rugby for years when I was younger and even though I am not playing it anymore, I still enjoy it a lot. Today, I prefer going for a swim and I have recently started practicing Hatha Yoga.
Besides that, when not reading a book somewhere or spending time working in the garden, I like to write down my thoughts. It is an essential part of who I am. And when getting tired of the words, I like being outside, observing and contemplating my surroundings, expanding my knowledge of the worldly things. For instance in ornithology.
Also, I emphasize as much as possible a healthy, local and seasonal alimentation. I eat mainly vegetarian dishes and cook almost every day.
