I was able to stay at the school from September until December of 2025 but it only took me a few weeks to feel completely at home. Mama bright and Baraka were every welcoming and made sure all the volunteers were comfortable and at ease at all times. And the students... oh my goodness, such angels, every single one of them! This being my first Workaway experience I was a little nervous at first but because I stayed so long I was able to make really good friendships with the kids as well as the other volunteers. I was also able to go on a safari trip with their safari business as well as visiting local families homes which were beautiful. All I can say is if you're looking for a sing to go here, this is it! I look forward to seeing all the amazing things this place will accomplish.

If you love dogs, calm and nature, I recommend you to go to Evelien! 🤗 She has two asbolutly adorables dogs, full of love, cuddles and energy! You can make daily walks with them, in the nature ! Evelien is peaceful, knows how to live in community, I felt like home super easily! She listened to me, suggested different things to do and allowed me to be independent and take initiative, which was very appreciated! She gave me advice and was always ready to answer my questions. Evelien was taking time on the evening to prepare her next day, so you need to be able to appreciate some alone time (It's my case, I finished my book!) So if you love calm, nature, dogs, nice conversations, let's go! ☺️

We had a great time at Dionny’s home! We stayed for about 11 days here. Dionny is so kind and positive, and was very patient with us as we don’t speak Spanish very well. The work was not too difficult, it consisted of helping clean and cook meals, as well as going to the fields. We helped irrigate water, cut down corn stalks, and planted seeds. We also taught English class to children which happens on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and this was a very neat and fulfilling opportunity. There is a market nearby on Sundays and Wednesdays and we enjoyed that experience, as well as hikes that are close by. As we don’t speak Spanish well, Google Translate came in handy! The ability to speak Spanish will be very helpful for this workaway, but other workawayers who spoke English, as well as Alan, Dionny’s son, were able to help.

My two weeks with this family were truly one of the best experiences I’ve had while traveling. From the first day, I felt welcomed not just as a volunteer, but as part of the family. They are kind, open, patient, and genuinely interested in cultural exchange. The work was varied and meaningful. I helped with different tasks around the farm — gardening, animals, and small projects — and I learned something new every day. The expectations were clear, fair, and well balanced with free time. I always felt supported and appreciated for my effort. One of the highlights for me was the daily life we shared: meals together, long conversations, meeting members of the extended family, and practicing Spanish in a natural and encouraging environment. It was the perfect place to improve my language skills while experiencing authentic Chilean family life. If you are looking for a real cultural exchange, meaningful work, and a warm, respectful family environment, I highly recommend staying here. I leave with gratitude, new knowledge, and memories I will carry with me for a long time. Thank you for everything!

Neele stayed with us from mid Dec until the end of January. She brought a calm, open and grounded energy to the farm and was truly a pleasure to have around. We spent Christmas with her and could not have hoped for better company. Neele is easy to talk to, open and sharing and we loved getting to know her. She took to the dogs easily and was quiet and consistent with them. Despite having little experience with horses before her stay she was comfortable and grounded in their presence from the start. We had one windy experience where the horses were stressed and Neele truly impressed me by standing her ground and keeping calm in the storm. Neele took initiative and kept an overview of what needed to be done and her help was invaluable. Thank you Neele for choosing to spend your time with us and we do hope to meet again one day.

It was so nice having Elena here with us for the month of January. She jumped into farm life with both feet and never hesitated to take on a challenge. From caring for the dogs and working with the horses to helping out with winter farmtasks and projects, she did everything with care and focus. We could see that she really wanted to do things well, and that meant a lot. A highlight of having Elena here was the amazing baking that happened a few times a week! We learned about German scrambled pancake or "Kaiserschmarren" and apple crumble muffins. Elena brought such a good vibe - friendly, motivated, and easy to work with. It was a pleasure having you stay with us Elena and wish you all the best in the future.

Glen and Kristen, thank you so much for the amazing hospitality. You truly made us feel like your home was our home — your generosity means a lot to us. We had a wonderful week and were lucky to experience New Zealand culture first-hand. We enjoyed every single moment. Thank you again for everything.

Irune was a fabulous volunteer, so full of energy and enthusiastic to learn and help with all things. Always ready with a smile, she is trustworthy enough I left the center in her hands for a few days and everything was perfect upon return.

Maia stayed with us from mid Nov- mid Dec. We’re really grateful for the time she spent at our farm. She worked hard, learned fast, and handled everything we threw her way. Taking care of sled dogs and horses is not always simple, but she quickly built relationships with our animals. She was reliable, patient, and confident. But what stands out most is how lovely she is as a person. Warm, kind, and great to have around. We spent some good times together. Thank you Maia for coming to stay with us and for all your help.

I realized very quickly that this place is much more than a volunteering experience — I truly felt like part of the family. Sokear, the owner of the school, together with Sen and Lin, the teachers, became much more than hosts; they became friends I will carry with me for life. Sokear has an incredible heart and an inspiring story, and I learned so much from our conversations. Kampong Kdei is a very safe and authentic area near Siem Reap. The people are extremely kind, and the children are always smiling and happy to see foreigners. The food is delicious and Sokear provides lunch and dinner. I also had the chance to explore the area with them and experience local life. There are two schools, and I spent most of my time in the smaller rural one with about 40 students. The children are incredibly affectionate and we shared many happy moments playing football and games. Teaching is about 3 hours per day, and the English level is basic, so even non-fluent speakers can help and make a difference. This was one of the best experiences of my life and it exceeded all my expectations. I will definitely come back. Thank you Sokear, Sen, Lin and all the children for this unforgettable experience. I truly recommend it. You can see some moments on the school’s Instagram.

My experience with Omeima was absolutely positive. She’s truly a wonderful young woman—kind, polite, and well-mannered. She’s sociable, but she also knows how to enjoy her own space. Over these three weeks, she cooked for us and helped with a few things around the house. I especially appreciated the way she cooked chicken, along with the different sauces and the vegetables she prepared. She also used the super well-equipped mandoline slicer I’d bought 😉😊. To me, she felt like part of the family, and meeting her was a truly lovely experience. I hope to see you again very soon, to visit Morocco, and maybe—who knows—we might even end up attending a retreat together somewhere in the world.

We were very happy that Allie reached out to us and came to spend a couple of weeks with us. Even though it was her first time doing a work-away, with the fact that our Family ran into some personal issues, Allie was extremely helpful around the house, walking our dog, doing small odd jobs like helping clean the gîte and picking up wood with our son Max. Allie was great company to have and talk too in both French and English, as well as occasionally Franglish. Allie fitted in our family very quickly and we would have happily hosted her longer. We would welcome her again anytime, and we wish her all the best in her future plans.

Smilla stayed with us for a month in August and it was such a pleasure to have her stay with us. She fitted in very quickly and comfortably within our family and our hectic family life, helping out with everything and anything that had to be done, from plasterboarding, to gardening, to cooking us a very special meal! Smilla is a very happy, kind and positive person, happy to learn new skills and try new things; she drove the tractor, did some pruning in the garden, helped out with plasterboarding and spent a few days re-decorating the Kitchen with Sylvie. She, very much and very quickly, became part of our family by sharing her experience and views over our endless and varied dinner table conversation; we were sad to see her leave, however happy to have shared great moments with her and we hope that her stay for her was overall positive with us. We wish her all the best in her future plans and we look forward to welcoming her again.

Janina stayed with us from October until mid December. She quickly became part of our daily life and integrated naturally into our routines. It felt easy and comfortable from the very beginning. She was not only good company and fun to talk to, but she also formed a great connection with our animals. She handled our horses and dogs with care and confidence, and it was clear that she genuinely enjoyed spending time with them. Janina is a true animal lover. Thank you, Janina, for the time we shared and for all the help you gave us during your stay. We’re very grateful for the experience and all of your help!

We were very happy that Gia reached out to us and came to spend a couple of weeks with us. Although she didn’t stay very long, we’re glad she did, Gia was extremely helpful in helping are son Max with filling the swimming pool border with stones to finish it. Gia also showed us how to make some delicious pasta from scratch (it was amazing). Gia was great company and it was really nice to have conversation and debates in both French and English, as well as occasionally Franglish. She fitted in our family very quickly and we would have happily hosted her longer and we would welcome her again anytime, and we wish her all the best in her future plans.

Paula had a very positive spirit, always friendly, always proactive and ready to help. Her communication was good, she worked well on a Team. Paula was with us at our Hotel reception for 3 months. She took her position seriously, she dealt with international clients, money, booking tours and giving information. Paula's skills in customer service are very good, and she would be a valuable addition to any team. Thank you Paula!

If you are an artist or creative Mylinh will light up a spark in you, she helped me a lot with the publication of my ceramic course, but beyond this we had a beautiful connection between art, music, yoga and lots of shared food, a very intuitive woman with a cheerfulness that conquers, time flies by with her.

I contacted them on short notice and very spontaneously, looking for an adventure. Unfortunately, I didn't have much time, but it was so intense and eventful that it felt much longer in retrospect. I'm so grateful that David took me on at such short notice! In winter, it can certainly get cold and uncomfortable on the ships if you're not used to it, but since I've already been to many different places, the ship was the coziest experience I've ever had. The atmosphere is simply indescribably magical! It's like stepping into an adventure book beginning to write its own story with you as the main character. Together with the other crew members, we slept below deck, and during the night the ship began to creak, the boat rocked gently, and ice floes scraped past the hull. The smell of old wood, smoke, and sea air hinted at all the stories the ship must have witnessed. On the very first evening, we kicked off a music session in the saloon with pirates from all over the world while the fire crackled in the stove. I don't know much about boats, but based on my limited knowledge, David could tell you absolutely everything about them and teach you an incredible amount. It's captivating how passionate he is about these old ships, hoping to one day send set sail again. One of our missions was to stop Redbox from sinking. The ship had a leak, so it had to be pulled out of the water – pirates are drinking and the ship is sinking...Although, to be fair, more food ended up on the table from our dumpster diving, and everyone could take as much as they wanted from the pot – it's unbelievable what a huge haul of perfectly packaged stuff made its way from the dumpsters to the ship! My highlight was the countless boxes of strawberries! ^^ I would have loved to stay longer, but I know the story isn't finished yet and many more adventures await me. Ahoy hoi Captain!
