Description
Permaculture Food Forest project in Nicaragua, focusing on natural building. It is in the beginning stages, with lodging and kitchen for up to three guests, with running water and a composting toilet. We are building a retreat center out of local materials, incorporating cob and other clay based building methods. We are about 5 km from a beautiful surfable beach and the local Nicaraguan community is very friendly.

Help
Ideally we need someone with photo and video skills to promote our meditation and Qigong retreats. We also have natural building projects going, involving cob, clay and lime plaster. We prefer our volunteers to stay for less than 2 weeks. Couples no more than 1 week.

There is space for 2 people, with comfortable spots to hang a hammock or lay a mattress (we provide) and also plenty of space on the property for a tent (see images). There is running water and a solid composting toilet structure. At present there is no electricity. The only cell service here is Claro.
Free accommodation and some meals included. Food included is whatever is in season, and there is a good local supply of fresh produce at a very reasonable price. The kitchen consists of a gas stove.
There is also a great collection of restaurants in Escamequita, a 20 minute walk away. What else ...
This is for people who want to get in touch with nature, live amongst the howler monkeys and other wildlife, and test their personal limits for luxury-free living. Whenever you want civilization, San Juan del Sur is just a short bus ride away, where you will certainly meet many wonderful like-minded travelers and expats at the many great restaurants and hostels there. This area is a surfers paradise. If you have the transportation, you have dozens of great surf spots up and down the coast here.

We really loved our time with Louis. He was so kind, welcoming, accommodating and made us feel really comfortable in his home from the outset. He has a wealth of knowledge on permaculture which was great to learn about. He is also just a very interesting… read more
