    Description

** Our friends wrote this for us in English, but we only speak Spanish and Kichwa, so please contact us in Spanish. **

We are an indigenous family living in Comunidad San Clemente, territory Kichwa Karankki of the nationality Kichwa, which is close to Ibarra. We are Jaime (46), Luz (46) and our 3 sons Arawy (4), Malki (17) Richard (23). We all live together in our peaceful country house in the Andes very close to the volcano, Imbabura. My mother lives next door and we eat together often. We have chickens, guinea pigs, a rabbit, sheep, cows, a pig, dogs and a cat We grow crops such as corn, wheat, beans, and vegetables. We are very interested in permaculture and are in the process of implementing more on our land to protect the nature and the resources we have. So we are always looking for people with new ideas and ways to live more sustainably. This is the place to go if you want to experience farm life in a peaceful and beautiful indigenous mountain village.

We try our best to protect our cultural identity through speaking our language Kichwa and through celebrations, spiritualism and traditions. We are always happy to share our culture with our guests. If you are here during March, June, September or December you will have the opportunity to experience our traditional celebrations of the year cycle (the four Raymis of the Andes calendar).

We are part of an ecological cooperative market Kurikancha (La plaza de la vida), that unites indigenous farmers in the area to support each other with the economic practice (trueque) where we share and exchange products from our farms. Every Wednesday there is a farmer's market in Kurikancha close to Ibarra, where we sell our ecological products and crops. At Kurikancha we also celebrate and participate in meetings and other activities. If you stay with us you will also have the opportunity to meet other people there and help with projects in the cooperative.

We are happy to receive guests and volunteers, and if you will come here, you will be part of our family.

**At the moment we are searching for people with knowledge of water collecting and filtering of gray and black water and how to implement such things in the land (vermifilter, plantain circles etc.).**

As we have a farm with many different crops and animals there are lots of different thing that you can help us with. It depends on the time of the year, your skills and interests, but it could be tasks such as:

    - taking care of the cows and sheep.
    - helping in the garden and in the fields (seeding, weeding, harvesting)
    - helping around the house and with cooking
    - taking care of our son
    - making bioconstructions (of eucalyptus)
    - helping repair stuff (furniture, stable, fences)
    - general maintenance and cleaning
    - artistic projects

But write us if you have any ideas or special skills, because we are always interested in new suggestions.
Normally the volunteers will do tasks from around 9 in the morning to 2 in the afternoon and have free time in the weekend, but we are open to other ways to organize the tasks.

    - cuidar a nuestro hijo
    - hacer bioconstrucciones (de eucalyptus)
    - ayudar en arreglar cosas
    - ayudar con mantenimiento general
