We hosted Elsa in the autumn of 2024 and for all kinds of reasons forgot to leave her a well deserved five star review. We do remember her beautiful energy though, and the lovely time we spent together with Mala. She’s a hard worker, takes responsibility, shares great stories and has lots of humor. Elsa’s profile popped up in our feed today and as she’s about to embark on another Workaway trip: Highly recommended!

Wow, there are not enough words to say what an amazing workaway adventure I had at the sanctuary. The work can be hard but it is very rewarding, you really feel like you are helping the monkeys living here. Everybody works as apart of a big team and the dedication of the interns and staff is plain to see. They really do an amazing job. There is also plenty of free time to enjoy walks into the local town of Looe, catch a pub quiz or shantie night, play card/board games or just chill. Meals are either made as individuals or shared which is always fun. There are 2 dorm rooms, one for each sex and also single rooms. I would recommend the dorms because you get to know your roomies really well. There is plenty to see and do in the surrounding areas on your days off. This was my first workaway and I would highly recommend to people of all ages.

Une expérience incroyable dans une famille italienne proche de la gare ! La communication était super, je me suis vraiment senti intégrés dans la famille dès le début. Il mon fait découvrir énormément de choses, autant sur leur culture que sur leur quotidien, et nous avons eu des conversations très enrichissantes. J'avais beaucoup de temps libre pour visiter les belles villes au alentour comme venise. Ce sont des personnes chaleureuses, bienveillantes et accueillantes. J'aurais voulu rester plus longtemps ! J’ai déjà hâte de les revoir, une magnifique famille que je recommande les yeux fermés !

I had an awesome time staying with Georg, Ann Sylvia, Kiki and Lola in lofoten during May. There was plenty of work to do and instructions/communication, tools and safety gear was all really good. The area was amazing and I had a lot of fun hiking and exploring, Georg and Ann Sylvia are great hosts and are generous with suggestions and lending gear for activities. The place felt like a nice little community with other workawayers and great food! I'll have to come back at some point :) tusen takk Georg, Ann Sylvia, Kiki and Lola!

Jeffrey stayed with us for 9 days, he worked well, and we were able to complete a few ongoing projects, we had good conversations about his life in Croatia, We can recommend Jeffrey to any future workaway hosts

I spent two weeks at Paul and Tina’s house. They are kind and welcoming, with so many incredible stories and life experiences to share. Though sometimes it might be overly familiar, which might feel a little uncomfortable. Work can be physically demanding at times, but there’s always a delicious meal prepared by Tina to help you recharge. Daily work is only in the morning, leaving you plenty of time in the afternoon to explore the surroundings by bike or train. The house is surrounded by rice fields and hills, so if you need a break from the city caos and love nature, this is the perfect place for you. The neighbors are incredibly kind and curious, you’ll get a real sense of living in a community. Consider joining their project and have fun!

We had such great days together with Maéva! Such a lovely human being, we felt immediately comfortable and she blended so well into the family and became a part of our life. She did all tasks with care and it felt like I could trust her with anything. She also went with us to the local viking market where we camped together for 4 days, it was wonderful. She did tasks around the garden and inside, and she was so good with the children! They loved her and trusted her. We all hope to see her again! Thanks for everything!

it was a very great experiene at the area of Rafael and Esmeralda. Very friendly, lovely and spiritual people! the Pool and the Meditation room are great! the surrounding, nature, possibilys are very cool there... mountains, rivers, big lake... thank you for a great time!

We stayed with Sue for our first workaway experience and it by far exceeded our expectations! Sue is an amazing lady - she goes above and beyond to make sure everyone is comfortable, well cared for and well fed with amazing home cooked meals! The work is hard but fair, and included strimming, bramble destruction, cutting firewood, clearing the pool, making bonfires etc. Everyone took turns doing different jobs to break it up and we finished by lunchtime, allowing for activities and adventures in the afternoons. The location is fantastic - we took trips to various surrounding places in Tuscany on the weekends and in the afternoons. Sue's place is in great proximity to the town and train station so there are always things to do during time off. We are grateful for the awesome experience and cannot thank Sue enough. Hopefully we see you in NZ sometime soon!!

Charlie è una persona socievole e simpatica.

We usually host Workawayers for a minimum of one month, but Tina could only stay for two weeks while I was on my own with the little one and the rest of the family was gone. I made an exception for her — and never regretted. Tina is the kind of person you don’t need to explain things to twice. If you agree on a task, it gets done, no reminders needed. She’s punctual, independent, helpful from day one. She spent most of her time in the garden, where her experience showed. She worked quickly and efficiently. On rainy days, she kept herself busy cracking a lot of walnuts and mixing herbal teas :) She’s also good at setting boundaries with kids, and she’ll take time for herself when she needs it - because - she needs it! For a parent — or anyone hosting — that’s reassuring: it means that when she’s around, she’s mostly enjoying it and not quietly frustrated, and this makes the whole atmosphere better. Warning: if you leave an empty mug or a dirty plate on the table while Tina’s around, it’ll disappear before you blink (no, Tina won't steal it - she will just wash it :)). Faster than a tractor in the garden, faster than a dishwasher in the kitchen! Tina's dog Leon is huge — bigger than me — but the calmest, sweetest dog you’ll meet. He’s great and patient with kids and cats, too. So if you’re a host worried about having him around, don’t be! You’ll just need to be ready to give him the scratches and cuddles he asks for. Tina, if you're brave enough to meet the whole family, you're very welcome to come back anytime! Otherwise - we'll finish our conversations and plant more tomatoes in ten years, when our home is finally more quiet (?) :)

Lina est une personne dynamique, autonome, proactive qui nous a beaucoup aidé dans notre maison notamment en préparant de très bons repas vegan. Respectueuse, calme, mâture, toujours de bonne humeur et souriante, Lina s'est très bien intégrée dans notre famille et notre quotidien chargé et plein de vie avec les enfants. Merci Lina !

I spent seven weeks at Dora and Kurt’s lovely farm on my first Workaway. I really enjoyed pruning the apple trees, learning stonework, adding compost to the beds, house painting, and fine tuning the new robot lawnmower, etc. It was heavenly the whole time spending meal times with Dora and Kurt, doing the work, waking up to sound of birds and church bells, the beautiful light, clean air, practicing my Danish, and engaging in all the outdoor activities. The food was amazing including the freshly baked bread, it was like being a peasant at a 5 star resort. This island is a magical place with a special sunshine, beaches, forests, ancient monoliths, safe cycling everywhere, and lots of cliffs and quarries for both sport and trad rock climbing. Dora and Kurt have spare bicycles, or if you want something unique, you can do a long term bike rental from Boss Cykler who will even deliver and pickup the bikes. I would really love to come back and do it all over again. Tusind tak Dora and Kurt for this special experience!

Yin Yin is a very friendly and positive person. She is very easy to communicate with and have a lot to talk about. She always want to do her best and have a great working morale. I will really recommend this warm and empathic girl! At my little farm there is mainly garden work and Yin Yin did her best, even if she is not experienced in that. She loves to do housekeeping which she did very thoroughly and I was very happy for her work.

Emma only stayed for four days as she was on a cycling tour. Normally, I only accept bookings of two weeks or more, but I'm very glad I made an exception. Emma is a truly remarkable woman; she has a wealth of knowledge about nature, works very conscientiously, and so quickly! She dedicated to the overgrown garden beds, and now they look wonderful, so I can even plant pumpkins. She is a cheerful and helpful person, and it's a pleasure to chat with her. Thank you so much for staying with us! We wish you a wonderful onward journey and hope to see you again soon.

Dan and the van/s!! Well, my journey led me to this gorgeous valley surrounded by pine trees, deep deep silence and tranquility. In this place you can really cocreate and inquire. Dan was a great host, kind, very creative human being and always open to make things happen. I stayed for a short period but regardless, genuine connections does not require long period of time.. We did a lots of reorganizations of the place since the camp it's a getting a makeover this period. Take care, thank you and see you, maybe 😄🫂Abrazos!!

Kokone stayed with our family for 10 days. She is a lovely person. She felt like a part of the family. She was a great help around the house and garden. She made us delicious food. Kokone is always welcome back and we miss her already.

Fatima was a fantastic help to us. She initially came to house and dog sit while we were away, and luckily for us, she stayed on a few extra weeks. She was conscientious, thorough and always willing to help . Fatima was a delight to host, and we wish her all the very best for the future.

The 5 weeks I spend at David’s farm (nov - dez ‘25) have been an amazing experience for me! I was looking for places to learn more about permaculture and sustainable living - I definitely got that but also so much more! During my time on the farm I was able to help with the chickens and goats (all 4 of them were gave birth while I was there, you won’t believe how cute baby goats are until you hold them!!), worked in the gardens (weeding, mulching, planting, watering…) harvested enormous amounts of the most delicious citrus (oranges, grapefruits, mandarins … you name them), learned how to repair irrigation pipes, used a chainsaw for the first time and David even helped me do my first real woodworking project. Generally, David is a wonderful host, he always tries to take into account what you’d like to do/ learn and also is a great teacher with a lot to share. He also gave us the opportunity to join him at a variety of events and really makes you feel part of the community! Also, the other volunteers/ community on and around the farm played a big role in making my stay such a special experience. The place really attracts wonderful and interesting in people - thank you all for all the shared meals (mostly freshly harvested from the gardens!) laughter, stories and more. I’ll hopefully be back one day!
