    Description

Hello dear Workawayers, welcome to our Workaway profile!

    -------- LAST NEWS ---------
We search for a person, preferably a woman, from mid August-end of September when Marta will be here alone with little Saša. Good company, (pro)positive approach, smiling :) We'll do gardening, harvesting, cooking, preserves , foraging and more. If you feel artistic, there will be space for that, too. A big plus if you enjoy playing with a lovely little girl.

Until mid August we host volunteers as usual to help out with very various tasks.

Main projects for the upcoming days, weeks and months:
    - implementing a homeschooling routine, and work at its content on a daily basis
    - improving the outdoor shower
    - making a small veggie garden
    - reconstructing the house: expanding the indoor living space in the front, putting new windows and doors, insulating it for next winter, mostly with natural materials (wood frame, straw and clay), making a floor.
    - outside hangout space
    - a sandbox for the kids :-) and a rope playground

    ________________

    Before you read on:
    1. Contact us only if you are interested in staying at least one month
    2. Before writing us make sure you have read the whole profile.
    3. Write us the reasons why you specifically want to come here. Too short and generic messages, copy-pastes and similar will not be considered.

    -----

    Are you...
    - a couple or a solo traveller?
    - a family, maybe searching for "your place" to settle down - isn´t that place here? :-)
    - a person who can enjoy time spent with kids, willing to offer them activities, games, arts and craft session or whatever you might be able to share with them to enrich their daily routine?
    - someone with carpentry skills, or other practical in general?
    - a nature lover who doesn´t mind outdoor life, dirt, insects and not having the confort of a city or even a village?
    - someone who enjoys cooking (healthy food possibly)?
    - able and used to care of him/herself, of the space where we all live and behave with respect, responsability and open communication to the other people, children included?
...then this might be the place for you!

    -----
    About us:

Here Marta (38, Italian), Michal (43, Czech) + Mia (7,5), Elio (5) and little girl Saša (1,5).

Marta - I am a full time mom, love nature, foraging, wild herbs, arts&crafts, yoga, singing, dancing, adventure.
Michal - I am musician: piano teacher and choir director. I love outdoor work, biking, hiking, green jasmine tea.
The kids - very lovely, very loud, very wild, often challenging, a bit dirty. They are homeschooled, so they´re all the time around.

We have recently moved from Czech Republic to Greece (February 2025). We found "our" place in north Peloponnese, near the small village of Seliana, about 35 min by car from the sea and the shops (nearest city Akrata).
We are in the process of buying a big piece of land next to our friends from Liveloula Steven and Chenny (you can also find them on Workaway as hosts).
At the moment we are slowly improving an old storage building and turning it into our new home with the help of friends and neighbours. We feel we are in paradise and that this place and its surroundings, people included, has a lot of potential for future projects, summer camps and a lot more, but for now we are still establishing ourselves and finding our new rythms.
On the edge of our land there is a small, beautiful river, a little pond that is also a live source of water from the bottom, behind the house we have an orchard with apple, plum and quince trees. It is a wild paradise for children, and adults, surrounded by mountains and a lot of green and water, streams and waterfalls.
We are completely off-grid and for now we don´t have hot water. We have an outdoor compost toilet and will soon make an outdoor shower.

The only element missing here are --- families with kids! That´s why in the future we want to attract children in many ways, and Workaway families with kids are also very welcome. We will be also happy to share the land

We are now at the beginning of our adventure, this time being very intense and also challenging.
Since we are homeschooling our children, we have very little time for getting things done (any things!), that´s why we will be very grateful for an additional pair of helping hands, either in devoting to kids or helping around the house, with cooking, gardening or in building projects.

Even if specific skills like carpentry, or experience with kids are welcome, it is not a must - what is the most important for us is that you really come with the will to contribute to the place and share a piece of life with our family as a member of it, this including also the responsabilities that come along.
If you feel creative in any way, or have any special skills you might contribute with, please mention it and be creative, your fresh ideas will be very welcome!

    ...And what can we offer?
You will be welcome and treated as part of the family and the whole community of friends and neighbours, in the most beautiful place ever!
Even if we are in the wild Peloponnese mountains, there is a very lively neighbourhood of friends here around: people from all over the world, about 30 living permanently here around, many more coming and going, especially in the warm season. Meeting, sharing, helping each other, doing music, playing board games, partying - so if you are afraid of loneliness, you will be quite surprised!

We try to go to the seaside once a week (the closest town is Akrata), we can offer two or three free spots in our car. However, if your main passion is the seaside and you´d feel sad up in the mountains, this is probably not the place for you. The sea is a wonderful plus and a treat we give ourselves from time to time.

Accomodation: in a tent we will provide if you don´t have your own, as well as mats/matraces, blankets etc. Campervans, caravans and similar are also welcome.

Warning: living here, in the wonderful wild nature is fantastic and - as it happened to us many years ago - this place and people will probably stay in your heart forever! However, living off-grid is not only romantic and idyllic and for someone it can be challenging. no wi-fi here, but there are spots good enough to do videocalls. Also, for now we have just cold water, but in the warm months (from May on) it is ok. You can also take a dip in the frozen river. Compost toilet in the fruit orchard with a nice view from the window :-)

If you have any question, please write us.
    Can´t wait to meet you!
