Description
With open hearts, we invite you to become part of our off-grid community, where the beauty of nature is not just a backdrop but an integral part of everyday living.
Our mission is to help individuals rediscover the magnetic beauty of the outdoors and reconnect with their true selves. The camp offers a sanctuary—a place for genuine relaxation, where you can breathe in the pure air and let the tranquility of our surroundings envelop you.
We warmly welcome those seeking a peaceful retreat. Within our grounds, a constant, soothing rhythm of life keeps us intertwined with nature and one another.
Currently, we need support in various areas:
- Designing and establishing a garden from scratch
- Preparing meals for lunch and/or dinner for us
- Implementing and managing DIY projects of varying scales
- Enhancing the comfort and allure of the camp
- Managing our social media platforms
We have several planned bigger projects, including:
- Redoing the roof of the ruin
- Building more toilets and showers
- Creating a cozy volunteer area
- Establishing a herb garden
- Enhancing our use of Notion project management software to better document our activities and connect with our online community
- Developing and running a variety of retreat programs (e.g., outdoor adventures, yoga, dancing, music, improv, soul healing)
- Setting up exchange programs with other Workaway hosts
- Increasing engagement with our online community
Volunteers will also have the opportunity to learn about our high-tech solar setup, our sustainable water supply from our own borehole system, and our high-speed internet provided by Starlink. Our facilities include a washing machine, a dishwasher, and an oven to ensure your stay is comfortable and convenient.
Our vision is to create a modern off-grid living experience where autonomy meets ease. This high-tech off-grid lifestyle means you don’t have to sacrifice the comforts you’re accustomed to, such as Starlink internet with up to 10mb/s, warm showers, and modern sanitation. After completing the 4 hours of focused work each day, except on weekends, there is plenty of time and space for relaxation and self-reconnection.
Our community is built on passion, not obligation. We are not wealthy, but we are deeply committed to providing food and welcoming volunteers because their support is highly appreciated, needed, and valued. We understand that many dedicate their valuable vacation time to Workaways, so it’s important to us that your time here is enriching and enjoyable. For us, living on the property is different. Everything we do, we do with passion to move this project forward, which means there are many tasks to undertake. While we operate on Portugal Time, we remain focused on our work. Therefore, the help of volunteers, especially those with a special skill or skill set, is highly appreciated to advance our project. Some tasks can be assigned, but if you stay longer and have a certain skill set, you can take on different projects. More details on the ongoing projects can be found on our website.
To foster skill and language exchange, we plan to introduce a Skill-Share Day. On this day, each person will have the opportunity to teach their skill for one hour, followed by the next person. This will create a dynamic environment of learning and sharing within our community.
We offer accommodation in a small, medium, or large tent or bell tent, depending on availability. The amenities, including hot showers, toilets, electricity, high-speed internet, a washing machine, a dishwasher, and an oven, are shared among everyone. Given the wide array of tasks and projects available, we’ve got your meals covered :)
We look forward to welcoming you to our little piece of paradise.

What else ...
Our 3,500m2 property is a sanctuary where you can unwind and let the soothing sounds of nature lull you into a state of tranquility. If adventure calls, you can hop on one of our mountain bikes and explore the undulating landscapes that surround us, journey to the dam or waterfall, or visit the thriving off-grid communities nearby.
For your daily needs, a mini-supermarket is just a leisurely 5-minute bike ride away. For a more extensive shopping experience, the Intermarché is a 30-minute bike ride (or a quick 10-minute drive). The bustling city of Castelo Branco, with its rich history and vibrant culture, is an hour away by bike, or a swift 20-minute drive.
This is a place of learning and growth, an ideal setting to immerse yourself in the principles of off-grid living and permaculture. Here, you can not only learn about sustainable living but also experience it firsthand, feeling the earth beneath your feet and the wind in your hair as you contribute to a lifestyle that respects and cherishes our planet.
Looking forward to sharing this journey with you.

In Camp I had the opportunity to learn new skills without the fear of doing mistakes or to be imperfect and this was really important for me to push myself out of my comfort zone and learn a lot.
