    Description

    Hello!
We live on Vancouver Island in beautiful Victoria, BC. We are extremely fortunate to be close to the University of Victoria and a mere five houses from gorgeous Cadboro Bay Beach. We are partially retired, and athletic (love to paddle, swim, wilderness camp, skate, ski- you name it). We love to travel and taught in Europe for two years. Because of our proximity to the university, and because of links to other countries, we've hosted many international students. We have a large beautiful urban garden filled with food and permaculture where we work quite hard assisted by our dog and cat. We have an active house with offspring living in a separate suite. We enjoy hosting and we hope to travel and do "Workaway" ourselves in the future.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

As we are both teachers, one history/woodshop and literature/writing/Indigenous literature/English Learners, we live our lives as lifetime teacher-learners. We've both coached several sports and love interacting with humans from all corners of the world. Our house is inclusive, vibrant, and often fun. A prospective Workaway person would need to be LBGTQ2S+ accepting and like (love?) pets. ☺️

    Accommodation

Garden "Sleeping" Cabin with a queen-sized bed. Handcrafted in 2010 by hubby and offspring. We share our main floor so you must come inside for the toilet and bathroom facilities, steps away. The cabin feels very private looking toward the garden and trees. Breakfast and lunch can be negotiated. We're used to group/house dinners once a week when we are here, and we shop and cook according to a shared table. For better or worse, we tend to be extremely healthy eaters with several plant-based meals per week but we still enjoy animal protein as well. We've found that negotiating details is best with individuals. As described in another box, we make dinners. We could also make lunch unless the Workaway person would like to make their own. We try to be flexible.

We are on the number 11 bus route 20 minutes from downtown's vibrant inner harbour. If you love to hike, run, walk, breathe in natural beauty as well as a super arts scene, the lower Island is fabulous.
