Description
My husband Jim and I love to experience new places, to meet other travelers, and especially to get to know local people. One of our best memories was Christmas with a family in Mexico. We have studied Spanish for several years (currently level A2/B1) and would like to continue to improve our Spanish while volunteering. I am a recently retired university violin teacher and Jim is a recently retired architect who plays the mandolin and the trumpet. We love camping, biking, hiking, working with horses, doing home repair projects, preserving nature, gardening, and of course playing music. We are both in excellent health (and fully vaccinated), enthusiastic, and very energetic. We are happy to volunteer in any job, and we are especially interested in teaching English and working with horses. We were Workawayer volunteers in Colombia at Get On Language Institute in 2022, and in 2023, at the language institute in Mariquita, and in San Gil. We are very easy-going, cheerful, and look for ways to help out. We enjoy getting to know and working with children and adults of all ages and lifestyles. We have also been volunteers in Cosa Rica, have traveled to South America four times including Colombia, and we are extremely excited about volunteer opportunities in Colombia.

Jim is an architect so he can give advice on designing and remodeling buildings. I can ride both English and Western. I have just completed a Teaching English as a Foreign Language Course (120 hour online course) and Jim as will be completing his soon. We spent a month teaching English in Colombia, and I currently teach English online to three Colombians and a Ukrainian. We can also do DIY projects, teach English, garden, clean, teach music, and play music (I am a university violin teacher, and Jim is an accomplished amateur on mandolin and trumpet). We also have a family farm and we have experience planting gardens, trees, weed whacking, using a chainsaw, and eradicate noxious weeds. We are physically fit and energetic.
