Description
We’re looking for a friendly couple (or two friends) to join us on our land this winter/spring and be part of our little coastal community. If you're handy with building, gardening and/or DIY savvy, please get in touch! We're ideally looking for a few months stay if it goes well, but would commit to 2 weeks to start with to see how it goes.
The exchange includes helping out with the garden and lending a hand with small, creative projects on the land. These may include planting trees, light improvements to our converted bus, and occasional eco-friendly or permaculture-inspired tasks. The activities can vary week to week as the project evolves, so there’s always something new to get involved with.
⏰ Time commitment
We ask for about 2.5 hours of help per day, 5 days a week (half the usual Workaway commitment). Some days may be a little busier, but this will always be balanced with lighter days. Often you would be able to work independently.
The help would be on our land, rather then our nearby coworking space where there are paying guests.
✨ What we offer in exchange:
You’ll stay in our cozy converted double-decker bus with incredible sea views, literally in front of one of Portugal’s best surf beaches (and close to many other surf spots too). You can grab your surfboard and walk straight into the waves 5 mins later! The environment is calm, natural, and inspiring—perfect if you love the ocean and the outdoors. It's also 10 mins walk to the village or Ferrel where there are shops, pubs, life, etc.
You’ll also be welcome to join activities at a nearby co-living/co-working space, which may sometimes includes yoga, surf sessions, or community barbecues. It’s a nice balance of peaceful nature and social connection. We'll add you to our community whatsapp group in case you wish to make new friends in the area and mix with the locals.
This is a great spot if you enjoy the beach lifestyle, being outdoors, and contributing to small, evolving projects while living close to nature.
If this sounds like your kind of adventure, we’d love to hear from you! Please send us a message introducing yourselves, and let us know why you’d like to be part of our little project by the sea.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We are located almost at Almagreira beach, one of the most beautiful beaches around with great waves when it is ON! We are 10 min walk from Ferrel, a charming small village that is just minutes away from some of the best surf spots in the region. The village itself is peaceful and relaxed, yet it has everything you need—local cafes, shops, and restaurants, all with the friendly charm of a close-knit community.
Ferrel is also home to an expat community, so you’ll easily find like-minded people to connect with. The locals are very welcoming. There is a couple of great yoga studios, many surf schools and great cafes and pubs hosting concerts where you will find a great music and fun vibe - we are happy to give you all the tips ! :)

You will be staying in the converted double decker bus with a stove and a fridge, a village is just 10 min walk with a plenty of supermarkets and restaurants

What else ...
You can surf of course, or go kiting, walks on the nearby cliffs of beach, visit local attractions such as the historic towns of Obidos, Peniche or even Caldas which has things such as Cinemas etc. Lisbon is just an hour drive for those wanting a little more life on the weekends. There is a nearby eco resort that runs classes with Yoga, pilates etc that you are welcome to join us or attend by yourself (it's not expensive).

A little more information

Internet access

Limited internet access

We have pets

We are smokers

Can host families

Can host digital nomads
We have starlink connection, so the internet is good. In the bus we put and extender so the speed is slower than startlink but still pretty good. If you want/need high speed, you can use our coworking space for video calls etc.

Space for parking camper vans
The land is big so If you want to arrive and stay in your campervan and just use the facilities, that is also potentially working for us! :)

Can possibly accept pets
Depends if they will chase our 3 cats. If they are cat friendly, it's potentially ok.
