I am a dog breeder, with a very small program. I have 6 dogs that live mostly in the house and 2 in an out building. There are daily tasks that require little skill but do take a couple hours. Daily duties include cleaning, feeding, walking, light house help and general yard help dependent on the season. Workaways are expected to help 25 hrs per week spread out over 5 days with 2 days off.

I am located close to town but very private, there are lakes and ocean all around us. Olympic Peninsula area is very green and beautiful. Seattle is about 60 miles from me but the alternative route which involves a beautiful ferry ride is only 40 miles away. If you love nature this area is a must see with many trails and hiking opportunities for all levels of activity. I also have 2 kayaks and there are plenty opportunities to paddle around the many water ways, as my workaway you are able to use or come with me.

My workaway experiences all start on a trial basis for two to three weeks to see if we are a good fit, duration can be renegotiated for a longer period if desired. I am very big on communication between myself and workawayers. You are welcome to explore Washington on your free time but when leaving and returning to the property you must advise me to ensure all dogs are safe and not going to be in the way or escape.
I am not open to people who smoke cigarettes or heavy drinkers. Unfortunately I can not accept anyone with pet.

As stated above this area is rich in natural beauty and outdoor experiences. There are many opportunities to learn about the history of the area and to enjoy water sports such as kayaking. Large Urban areas are close by. Mount Rainier is also accessible if the person has a car.
Help
Depending if I am raising puppies or not the type of help I require would involve dog care (brushing, bathing and walking) as well as socializing puppies (handling and playing ) help with my house hold chores vacuuming, dusting, washing floors. Gardening would involve planting weeding and watering. I have a small garden plot. Also maintenance of dog pens.

I have a newer 28 ft. travel trailer with a large slide out that provides extra room inside. There is a queen size bed and a living room area,T.V.,radio, as well as a kitchen and bathroom with a shower. My property is fenced and gated with a lock for security. The trailer is located inside the gated part of the property. I would ask the person what they like to eat and provide food for meals that they can prepare for themselves. The trailer is outfitted with dishes, bedding and everything needed to prepare meals, stove fridge, microwave & air fryer.

I have mentioned the opportunities for hiking, kayaking, strolls along the water, swimming(weather permitting) and taking in local history (museums and government buildings,) Olympia is only 15 miles away and is the capital city of Washington. The city itself is fascinating, with many sights and culture to enjoy.

I was first here May 2018 but enjoyed my time so much that I contacted Sara again to ask if I could come out for a second time. It is very easy to feel at home with Sara ensuring you have everything you need for a comfortable stay. I originally arrived… read more without much of a plan, thinking I'd stay for a month. I stayed for around nine weeks in total.

Sara asked me exactly what I ate/cooked before I arrived and provided me with food so I could prepare my own breakfast, lunch and dinner which I appreciated. The trailer home was a great place to stay. I was able to cook, connect to WiFi to watch Netflix, shower and sleep without any noise. Despite it being the colder months during my time there I was always warm, there was an abundance of duvet covers and throws and I also had use of the in-trailer furnace when the temperature dropped.

The best part was the dogs and puppies. I love animals, so caring for them is like just hanging out with them. I would wake in the morning and let the dogs out whilst preparing their breakfasts, refilling water bowls, clearing up the area if needed, laundering blankets/bedding for the dogs and then feeding the dogs. Throughout the day I could be assisting Sara bathing and grooming the dogs. I would often take one or two dogs for a walk in the neighborhood, or if the weather was damp we would play inside with toys. Some days when the dogs didn't need so much attention I mowed the lawn (on a sit-down mower! :D), raked fall leaves, cleaned out the puppy shed ready for new arrivals, hoovered and mopped Sara's house, or just had the dogs in my company as I folded blankets. Nothing was ever strenuous and exhausting. I really enjoyed spending so much time with the dogs, getting to know their personalities and what their favorite toys were.

It was a very pleasant experience and I would recommend Sara as a host, always. She is a great woman to know, she has a fun sense of humour and I always enjoyed being in her company. As a workawayer she took very good care of me. I couldn't have wished for a better experience. The location of her property was perfect, just two miles from the edge of town in a quiet little neighborhood. Whenever I walked the dogs neighbors always greeted me and chatted. The town itself has everything you will need - local shops, bigger supermarkets, gas stations, a library, a community center, an AMAZING taco truck (or two), restaurants, fast food stores. Even better is the location to head either to Olympia in half an hour or Seattle in less than two hours. You are close enough to the Olympic National Park and the Washington coastline that you will always find something to do on your day off. It's a perfect place for outdoor lovers and nature seekers.
