Description
We are a family of five - Michael and Sabella, Elena (10, Frederick (7) and Owen (5) - who moved to Darwin 2 years ago. We love hosting workaway travellers in exchange for general help with busy daily life of our family, especially during times when Michael travels away for work, Sabella really appreciates another set of hands! We have a lovely tropical Darwin style house that we are gradually working on improving so potentially help with house improvement projects too, if you have useful skills to share.

We offer travellers a great location to be based to experience Darwin’s relaxed tropical lifestyle and famous Dry Season events. We are in Fannie Bay, one of the most popular beachside suburbs and within walking distance of Parap village with its famous market, Fannie Bay Gaol museum, and East Point reserve. Botanic gardens, Mindil Beach market and the City are also an easy bike ride or bus trip away. We also like to go camping or sometimes just day trips to the nearby national park.
Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
Help
We are mostly looking for help with our kids, especially when Michael is away for work and Sabella appreciates an extra set of hands and eyes! This could include:
Indoor and outdoor play
Supervising swimming in our pool
Walking to/from school
Help with homework
Preparing snacks
Minding the kids when Sabella needs to go out
If you like to cook, preparing a few shared meals would be greatly appreciated!
If you have music knowledge - piano lessons?! (We have a piano)
We also have lots of potential projects around the house for repairs and improvements, so if you happen to have skills in this area or are interested in helping with this type of thing we’d love to know!Languages

Workawayers will have their own separate living space downstairs in a large airconditioned room with a queen size bed. You will have your own bathroom with shower, and there is also a fridge and basic kitchenette available for you downstairs. Basically you mostly have the whole downstairs area to yourselves, though we need access most days to the laundry.
The family lives upstairs which is where the shared spaces of kitchen, living rooms and deck are and you are also welcome to make yourself at home up there, subject to respecting that we like quiet evenings after the kids bedtime.
For food we will generally suggest that workawayers prepare their own breakfast and lunch at a time that suits them, but that we aim to share dinner altogether on the deck. This is flexible though and can be worked out as we go.What else ...
We are former workawayers ourselves, having used the program when travelling in Europe back in 2011. We love to be able to act as host now to enhance the experience of likeminded travellers who enjoy experiencing places from a local perspective.
