I truly cannot express how grateful I am for the incredible three weeks I spent with Ewen and Lesley. It was an absolutely life-changing time, and I’m more than thankful for the opportunity. During my stay, I learned so many new and useful skills and now feel much more confident in many different areas than I did before. I really enjoyed working

I definitely pushed myself to new levels, and it was exciting to discover what I was actually capable of. Ewen was always there to guide me, while also trusting me to try things on my own. In my free time, I got to try a lot new things, like night fishing and going to my first AFL game. Ewen and Lesley even offered me the use of their car, which gave me the chance to explore the area, go for runs along the beautiful Redland Bay waterfront, and visit North Stradbroke Island with another Workawayer. On top of all that, they responded incredibly quickly when I reached out in need of a host on short notice. I couldn’t have been luckier to end up with them. I highly recommend Ewen and Lesley to any Workawayer looking to grow, meet kind and genuine people, and enjoy the beauty of nature between Brisbane and the Gold Coast.Left by host for Workawayer (Leonie)
Leonie spent 3 weeks with us in June/July 2025. She is a delight to have onboard, and we would highly recommend her to any host that she selects. From the onset she was quick to offer help, in the kitchen, the yard and any other task we were working on. She more than holds her own compared to the blokes and works very hard. Her English is perfect, she engaged with extended family and neighbours and fitted in well with all, including the participation in the windscreen wiper gag.
Her drawing skills are amazing and we appreciate sketches of the cottage that will become a feature.
Leonie is welcome at our home anytime she is in the area and we look forward to hearing of her adventures in the future. She will be greatly missed.

I had an absolute lovely time staying at Lesley and Ewen place for the last 3 weeks. This was my first address through Workaway and I could not have wished for a better place to start my adventure!

The work was very diverse and they provided plenty of opportunities to develop new skills as there is many projects going on, I enjoyed every second of it.
Their profile gives a clear and honest overview of what the Workaway is going to be like and there is plenty of room for time off if it is clearly communicated. They were happy for me to bring my girlfriend along on my days off and more than happy for us to lend us the kitchen and provide some dinner.
I would highly recommend staying at Lesley and Ewen as I was the perfect addition to my Australian adventure. I cannot wait to see what the place is going to look like in a couple of months.
I genuinely hope that many Workawayers have the pleasure of staying with you, thank you for the amazing time!

Mike was to be our 1st workaway experience, but as fate happens he became our 3rd, spending 3 weeks with us in June/July 2025. His communication leading up to his stay kept us informed and we new exactly when to expect him. Mike was great to have around, he was willing to have a go at any task that was put in front him, and he worked hard to

We worked on the cottage restoration, bush care are bush fire mitigation on steep slopes around the house, as well as preparing a caravan parking area near the dam. Mike was happy to take onboard new experiences operating the excavator, bobcat and tractor. He is a quick learner and operated all equipment with care and respect.
Socially, Mike was exposed to two of Lesley's (large) family gatherings, (a daunting task) where he slotted in great and enjoyed the groups, we also had a meal with neighbours and was welcomed back for another round. We also had another workaway staying with us at the same time, Mike proved himself to be a team player and worked in well with Leonie. Mike also brought his girlfriend over, when she had time off, and the pair of them prepared two lovely meals for us. Mike somehow managed to win the heart of "Diesel" our not so friendly dog, which was a master feat. Took him a bit longer to get close to "Pluto" but he got there in the end. We have really enjoyed the time Mike has spent with us and the effort that he has contributed has made significant progress on the overall At Hillview project. We can highly recommend Mike as a workaway and he is welcome to return anytime.

Keita became our first guest via the Workaway system staying with us for 12 day in June 2025. He is a very polite young man with an eagerness to work hard. His grasp of "English" is good overall, but we managed to find a lot of "Australian" that took some explaining to get the message across.
Keita helped us out with cutting firewood, gardening

Feeding him was no issue as he gave everything that was put in front of him a go, and his appetite was strong.
Thank you Keita, you were a pleasure to host.Feedback
