Welcome to Tuscany!
Hi Workawayers – I’m Dominic, and this is Juno, my four-legged partner in crime 🐕. We live in my restored family home in Tuscany, surrounded by olive groves, woodland, gardens, and a swimming pool (in the summer) – a real oasis just outside Lucca.
I get great support from a wonderful Italian couple who help keep things running, but I also love hosting Workawayers. These days I’m especially interested in welcoming remote workers who want a peaceful, inspiring base in Tuscany with good Wi-Fi, fresh air, and some company.
What I’m looking for
I don’t run things to a strict schedule – it’s more about finding a good balance. In return for your room and meals, I usually ask for a few hours a day helping with light tasks (unless you are open to helping in the woods where the tasks may be a little less light) around the house or property. This could be:
Tidying the garden, helping with olives, or odd jobs around the house.
Pool and outdoor maintenance (if that’s your thing).
Creative skills – yoga, fitness, music, cooking, photography, design, digital help, or whatever interesting talents you bring with you.
Or simply being good company – sharing stories, watching a film, or joining me and Juno for a walk.
I’m also open to people teaching me something new – whether that’s guitar, singing, personal training, yoga, or creative digital skills.
Location
We’re 15 minutes from Lucca (20–30 mins by bus) with easy train links to Florence, Pisa, Siena, and the coast (50–60 mins). The local village has a supermarket, pharmacy, and bar. Lucca itself is lively all year, with language schools, festivals, and a great atmosphere.

About me
It’s worth mentioning that I am gay – I mention it only so that people know upfront, as some may come from backgrounds where that matters. I love welcoming open-minded travellers who are here for both the work and the experience.
Final note
I’m looking for Workawayers who are easy-going, sociable, and open to sharing a bit of life here – not just hiding away in their rooms. If you like the idea of joining in with meals, relaxing in the evenings, and bringing your own spark to the place, you’ll fit right in.

Tuscany is one of the most beautiful areas and sitting near Lucca a beautiful completely walled town - once voted one of the best places to live in the world - will give any traverller a fabulous start on Tuscany. Near Florence, Siena, San Gimigano and Pisa there is an endless supply of options. Or go to the language schools in Lucca.

Help
There is so much to do - clearing the woods, replanting in the garden, painting an outhouse, preparing a field, sorting inside, filing, reorganising office, and more. Just tell me what you can do and we can see if they’re something relevant. My goal is to provide a fair exchange, enjoy a break or explore Tuscany with free board in exchange for help and conversation.

During his time here he was involved in a range of different projects - clearing bamboos and overgrowth, making cement, filling in ditches and generally helping around the property. Nothing phased him and he was keen to get stuck in regardless of the… read more
