  • Description

I recently returned to the USA after 6 months in Central/Latin American countries working on permaculture and regenerative agriculture projects. Most the time was shared living in a bedroom on the farms. During travel I lived in hostels with other travelers and backpackers. In addition to regular work, I offered technological support to hosts to include providing computer training and website development. I have been to hostels and retreat centers in Guatemala, Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, Honduras and Peru. I am making my way back to the USA until other opportunities arrive.

Motivation is found in being able to envision projects from beginning to end, knowing that contributions will be beneficial for generations. Joy is found in knowing that my contributions will positively affect the host and other volunteers. My motivation derives from having a "can do" attitude toward all phases of projects. Although I took early retirement from my career, the "big picture" is motivation enough, and additional benefits are always welcome. That may include anything from relaxing in a hammock to an occasional visit with hosts, guests and volunteers.

I find that reasonable challenges keep me interested in following through with supporting a variety of projects. Working with and mentoring others has always been fulfilling. Independent projects can be just as fulfilling. With every task there is always a learning opportunity.

Besides decades being in the technology industry, my experience includes working with multiple levels of construction, (organic) gardening, hospitality and hosting/organizing group activities and meals, project management, teaching college level computer courses, and knowledge of electric, plumbing, framing, finish work.

Hobbies and interests include animal habitat preservation and conservation both terrestrial and aquatic. Outdoor and natural environments are my photography interests.

  • More details about your skills

Over the past 7 years my involvement with developing programs at retreat centers and eco-lodges has lead me on an educational path while maintaining full time employment. Recently that path has become more focused on assisting with building communities and supporting environments for healthy choices, spiritual connection and collective consciousness.

Value in many philosophies is recognized and no endorsement or subscription to any one spiritual philosophy is practiced. The focus is to support those who are experiencing their own journey in whatever way that may be. There is Divinity in all things and I honor this by living with gratitude, contribution, cooperation and service to others and all life forms.

Raised and living on a farm during my formidable years, I am accustom to outdoor work and activities including multiple types of agriculture. When living many miles from a city and infrastructure, there were endless projects requiring nonstandard approach to resolution. My experiences throughout several decades include construction of sheds, garages, greenhouses, bridges, and remodeling and building homes thereby providing a limitless wealth of experiences and knowledge.

Circumstances required learning skills such as AC/DC ARC and OXY-ACETYLINE welding including cutting torches. Operating lathes, table saws, circular saws, drills, chainsaws, jack-hammers, and an endless list of tools and machinery are experiences that have proven beneficial for DIY projects and work.

I have a basic understanding of gasoline engine operation, maintenance and repair that includes oil changes and tire repair to complete overhaul including pistons and heads.

  • What else ...

Having alone time is important, valued and respected. Being independent and a regular solo traveler, I function well in remote and isolated situations. Other than occasionally attending small spiritual gatherings, much of my free time is spent reading, walking and exploring. Occasionally I may dabble with a musical instrument. When indoors, activities may may be either passive or active, depending upon the circumstances. I enjoy learning and sharing experiences.

As an adventurous human this lifetime has presented many experiences and opportunities. There are plenty more to have. I am eager to continue with each experience, focusing on benefiting others for generations to come.
