    Description

It’s a place where giving feels better than taking, « Up-cycled » looks better than « New » and gratitude rules over ambition.

    Ecological ? …Sure
    Artistic ? ….Definitely
    Serious ? …..Somewhat
    Spiritual ? ….of course
    Unique ?….oh yeah
    Perfect ? ….Nope
    A good laugh ?….Always

You can stay here for some time while you do your part. Not for too short, not for too long.

    It’s safe. It’s beautiful. It’s lovely. :)

    See you soon!

If you’re still scrolling it means you’re probably looking for the boring details ;)), soooo here you go! :

The village was founded January 15th 2022 by Kevin. It’s is an Ecological Park, cultural and educational center and a botanical garden on the beautiful island of Saint-Martin in the Caribbean. Our focus is the conserve and share Saint-Martin's Culture and traditions, while also exploring new technologies and explorations for a sustainable future.

We are located on the french side of Saint-Martin, semi-secluded in the hills of the French Quarter District. "The village" will be built with your help on 8 acres of land, donated to the cause by the Rohan Family.

You get more details on our location by visiting our website- ask us for the link

Kevin, an creative director in marketing and design, and his loyal dogs "Jax" & “Peanut“, started this dream journey in 2022, by investing in 2 shipping containers and starting an off-grid life on a property that was once used for agriculture by his great great grand-parents over a century ago. Today, with the help of volunteers, he is striving to build an eco-village where the main currency is bartering your time, knowledge & energy, in exchange for basic needs such as food, shelter, education and being part of a loving, peaceful and sustainable community.

  • Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

The village already receives local volunteers occasionally, who come to participate, exchange, learn and experience. Saint-Martin is one of (if not the most) culturally diverse island in the Caribbean, with a population comprised of over 30 different nationalities from around the world. It is also the smallest body of land in the world to be shared by 2 different nations. France and the Netherlands. Both sides of the island live in total harmony and are separated only by a ceremonial border monument.

While the Dutch side offers a more "Americanized" experience with great nightlife, shopping and luxury resorts, the french side offers a more traditional authentic experience with amazing French and Caribbean cuisine, traditional architecture and french culture.

Both sides boast beautiful beaches and their own airports, ports and ferries to neighboring islands such as St.Barths, Anguilla, Tintamar, Pinel, Saba....

  • Help

    Help

As this project involves the creation of a new form of community, the range of skills and abilities is broad. Suffice to say that no matter what your skill sets are, as long as you have 2 working feet, arms and a desire to work hard for a project you believe in, there will always be things for you to do.

That being said, volunteers with skills and experience in plumbing, landscaping, gardening, water systems and solar energy, renewable energies, cooking and up-cycling, would also be highly appreciated.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

We currently can offer accommodations in the cabanas built by previous travelers. The cabanas are mostly built out of wood pallets and although they are comfortable, they can use some improvement here and there (Which can be part of your tasks during your stay). There are dry toilets and a working bathroom and shower at your disposal

The other option is to setup camp with your tent on the village itself and use the facilities there (Kitchen, restroom and shower). Note that on the village, the view is amazing and temperature typically cool and breezy thanks to the ocean breeze.

In all honesty I am not much of a cook, there is a full kitchen available to our guests in which I provide staples such as rice, potatoes, beans, coffee, sugar, spices, grains, flour, vegetables and fruits. If you would like other things, I can provide bicycles that you can ride to the shop or local eateries that are 5mn away.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Life around the village is all about peace, compassion, tolerance, creativity and laughter. The ideal resident is passionate but doesn't take him/herself too seriously. We are here to enjoy the present moment and make new friends, learn, exchange and experience together.

The village is also big on conducting workshops on various subject that are open to the public and mostly free of charge. If you have skills in a specific craft or skill that has a place in sustainable living, one of your activity can be to conduct a workshop for local residents.

Feel free to visit our website for more info, photos and videos!

If you have an Easy-going, "Go with the flow", ego-free type of personality, then you will find your people here :)

We are working on getting one of our vehicles in working order to be at the disposal of our volunteers so they can have a means of transportation during time off. Otherwise, there are public buses, hitch hiking is common and safe, or if you're lucky, you may catch a ride with Kevin :))
