    Description

We are expanding our farming operation and need some help! We are a small farm with a big impact in our community. As we support many growers through our online farmers market that we host, we need a little back up in our farming operation. Over the next 2-3 months, we need carpentry help to assist in building out a farm storage shed, repairing a window here and there, clearing bush, restoring some old rock terraces, and building new ones. Its exciting on the farm these days and we are going to have some good exciting inspiring months ahead of us to grow more for our community. We hope you are up for joining the farm team for this fall and spring season. Ideally, we need workawayers to sign up for 2-3 months at a time.

But there’s more to this little farm: there are 3 parts to our island farm life: we partner with 2 other businesses: a coffee shop and a boat management company! The best way to describe this is is we diversify to really support our farming efforts; this is a land and sea kind of lifestyle. = Farm to coffee shop and Farm to Sea kinda set up! :)
So if you have boat maintenance or Coffee shop experience, this is for you!

    Lodging set up:
The farm is in a very secluded beach area. The living arrangement is tent living with a shared kitchen and bathroom. Its basic living on a farm, very outdoorsy, very breezy and chilly at night but hot during the day.

We are really excited about this next growing stage of the farm and hope you are up for some hard work, and a great time, and great networking with some local farmers and farms.

Guided help needed for growing farm capacity to grow more food. We farm between 3 family farm plots. The main focus over next few months is growing crop production at the Mountain spot where you will be sleeping. The Mandahl spot is where we'll spend a few days a month building up new and old rock terraces of my great grandfather who farmed that land. This is where we have our 100 chickens and bee hives. And we'll spend a few days a month at the Misgunst plot helping to knock out a wall and do some roof repairs to my father's father's house, who farmed that land. This is definitely a chance to be apart of a family legacy of farming and fishing.

    Accommodation

The living arrangement is tent living with a shared kitchen and bathroom. Its basic living on a farm, very outdoorsy, very breezy and chilly at night. The tent has 2 screened rooms, so either 2 male workawayers at a time or couples. There is a small apartment onsite where everyone uses a traditional shower and kitchen but we are working on building out an outdoor kitchen and shower house for workawayers. I must confess I'm not that great of a chef so rather than provide meals, I can provide basic staple food ingredients (pastas, rices, seasonings, oils, eggs, oatmeal) and everyone is up to their own cooking skills. Food items not included and is up to you is your protein, your dairy, your fruits and vegetables. When possible, I'll contribute group meals. I make great pancakes and scrambled eggs! We'll take grocery trips when needed. Laundry on site.
