Phil and Fhiona were perfect hosts. They are kind, fair, easy-going and great company. We took on the re-roofing and adding of safety ballustrades to their pergoda and it was satisfying to see the end result. We enjoyed Kerikeri and the Bay of Islands, it's a beautiful part of NZ. We thoroughly recommend Phil and Fhi and their beautiful home.

I had such a lovey time at this workaway. There is a real sense of community and everyone was so welcoming, you feel like part of a big family. The olive picking is such a unique experience and the area is absolutely beautiful, there are so many friendly animals around you never feel lonely. Overall I had a wonderful time on such a brilliant little farm!

Tatiana es una chica que aprende muy rápido, siempre atenta en ayudar con buena actitud y energía, amable en el trato y muy responsable con el trabajo, por su interés por ayudar a las personas hicimos un video para solicitar donaciones para una comunidad indígena el cual resulto muy bien, también es muy buena tomando fotografías lo cual puede ayudar mucho a los lugares que visita, tiene mucha habilidad para manejar maquinas como pulidoras por su experiencia en el tallado de piedras, le gustan las manualidades en sus tiempos libres puede hacer arte con sus manos como tejidos o artesanías, es una amiga comprometida con ayudar a las demás personas y aprender lo lindo y bueno de la vida. Espero pueda encontrar siempre buenas personas en su viaje o en su vida, también espero volverla a encontrar para trabajar por los demás y hacer un mundo mejor.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for welcoming me into your home and allowing me to work with your family these past three weeks. It has been far more than just work — it has been a true blessing. It was such a special experience to spend time with your beautiful family and all six amazing children. I truly enjoyed helping with the cows, housework and especially playing and sharing moments with the kids. The love, kindness, and faithfulness you show each day are a beautiful testimony of what it means to live a faith centered life. Being around you has been deeply inspiring and uplifting. Thank you for your patience, your hospitality, your prayers, and the example you set for everyone around you. Wishing your whole family many blessings: happiness, health, and many joyful moments. Elsie's stay of a bit over a fortnight was great for me. She's got lots of energy - both socially and physically - and devotes it to whatever she's doing. For someone that isn't very large she is impressively strong and has lots of endurance. She applied that to planting, moving mulch, building compost heaps and other bits and pieces. I appreciated her leadership in showing newer arrivals the ropes around the house and how to do things on the land. Plenty of initiative. She bonded really well with the other people staying and made a point of engaging conversation etc. We had some thought-provoking discussions during her stay. All up, a really worthwhile hosting experience for me. Many thanks Elsie!

I've stayed with Nazereth for few weeks and loved every moment of it. Nazeh and all the people staying there are extremely friendly and help with whatever you may need. You'll have a second family for as long as you stay here. They grow their own coffee which is the most amazing process of picking, cleaning, roasting, grinding and of course drinking. There's a few dogs that will follow you whenever you go for a walk, and a few cats that will love to take a nap with you (although their temperament varies). Most of the work is gardening and basic home maintenance. Weeding, planting plants, picking coffee and oranges, cooking, cleaning, trimming trees, and a lot of relatively simple tasks. Waking up in the morning, sipping a cup of coffee, and watching the mist blanket the mountains is an experience you won't forget.

Lara es una chica muy comprometida con ayudar, muy atenta, amable, responsable, alguien con quien se puede pasar mucho tiempo dialogando de manera fluida y tranquila, una mujer con una mente y un corazón abierto para aprender y enseñar el significado profundo de la vida. Giles is a funny, clever, kind and respectful guy who is easy to talk to. In his activities, he has high attention to detail and is thorough, working at a slow, steady pace. He helped me deal with some really nasty weeds, did some painting, and cooked a couple of times. I wish him all the best. 😊😊

Sophia es una chica muy madrugadora, se levantaba casi siempre con una ducha de agua fría para estar lista para ayudar amablemente en trabajo de campo o en la cocina, yo la llamo la chica increíble por que sabia hablar muy bien varios idiomas, le gusta pintar, cantar, tocar guitarra y en sus ratos libres bailaba hasta con la música de la naturaleza, el viento y los pájaros eran suficientes para ponerla en movimiento, le gusta hacer fuego para compartir sus canciones con el grupo, muy recomendada, espero encuentre personas de buen corazón como el de ella en el camino. Las puertas siempre estarán abiertas para hacer artesanías o compartir una comida o cantar una canción, siempre los mejores deseos, tu amigo Santiago...

I spent 10 days with Richie, who truly cares about the dogs and dedicates his life to them. You need to be aware that the living conditions can be quite basic, but the love and affection from the dogs make you forget everything else. ❤️ It was an incredible and meaningful experience that I will never forget. I also had the chance to visit the main shelter twice to walk the dogs, and they were all just as adorable and loving. I spent some time with the cats as well, which was really special. 🐱 Dan also took time to show me around the city and helped me discover the local culture, which made the whole experience even more authentic and memorable. 🌏✨

We have really appreciated Elena’s help and company! She mostly helped us to finish the last stages of our syntropic agroforestry practices for this season. This included mulching, chop & dropping as well as planting various species of cuttings, aloe vera, and seeds. Elena clearly loves to do manual work with plants (and more..) and is very dedicated and organized with an eye for detail.. For example, it was a real delight to see how she puzzled a layer of logs in the the ‘caminos’ and the guest kitchen was always kept spotless :) Elena is a very warmhearted person, lovely to talk to, very open minded and always curious to learn & experience new things. She is fully recommended and we’d love to meet again one day! Thanks so much Elena, a big hug from Barichara

I spent a total of one and a half months in Bali, including two weeks volunteering at Putra Bali English Course in Sulawati. As this was my very first Workaway experience, I honestly feel like Putra set the bar incredibly high. From the moment I arrived, the whole family made me feel welcome. They were always kind, caring, and genuinely interested in sharing their culture and daily life with me. Throughout my stay, they invited me to many local activities and experiences, which made the whole experience feel much more personal and authentic. One of the most special moments was being invited by Putra’s mother to attend a traditional Balinese ceremony while wearing traditional clothing. It was such a beautiful cultural experience that I will never forget. Putra also invited me on a camping trip with his friends near Mount Batur, which ended up becoming one of my favorite memories from Bali. Teaching the students was also a wonderful experience. I really enjoyed creating interactive games and conversation-based activities to make the classes more engaging and fun. The students were always enthusiastic, curious, and incredibly sweet. During these two weeks, I received so much kindness and warmth from both the children and the local community. It truly became one of the most meaningful parts of my time in Bali, and I would wholeheartedly recommend this experience to anyone considering volunteering here.

We absolutely loved having Kerstin stay with us as our Workaway helper. For the brief time she was here, she was an incredible addition to our home and quickly became like part of the family. Kerstin is wonderfully polite, friendly, respectful, and easy to have around. She brought such a calm, positive and caring energy every day, and was always willing to help wherever needed. Her work ethic is excellent and she approached every task with enthusiasm and kindness. One thing that especially stood out to us was the amazing care she gave to our injured dog, Scout. Kerstin showed genuine compassion, patience, and dedication in helping with his rehabilitation, including walking, massage, gentle care, and spending quality time with him. It was obvious how much she truly cared about his wellbeing, and we trusted her completely with his care. Kerstin also made beautiful healthy meals and contributed so much to the household with cooking, shopping, cleaning, and daily chores. Her food was always fresh, nutritious, and delicious, and she brought great ideas and positivity into the kitchen. Beyond all of this, Kerstin was simply a pleasure to be around. She communicated well, showed initiative, and was thoughtful and considerate at all times. We would welcome her back anytime and highly recommend her to any future hosts. Thank you Kerstin for everything you did , especially for our dogs. We are very grateful for your time with us and wish you all the very best for your future adventures.

From the very first moment, both of us felt at home. Milou and Eric were incredibly welcoming and always available when we needed anything. We spent our days playing games, cooking, learning about other guests' stories, hiking in the Pyrenees, and taking day trips to Toulouse—which was absolutely magical. If you're thinking about immersing yourself in life in southwestern France, this is the place to do it. The work was straightforward with a consistent schedule, the food was delicious, and everyone was genuinely amazing. We'd absolutely return in a heartbeat.

Great people , friendly to others, good in teamwork, kind and of course gently with our dogs giving time, love and all their effort to mantain there spaces clean and secure also our dogs enjoy a lot the walks! Thanks

El voluntariado ha sido uno de los más gratificantes de nuestra vida, y eso que ya tenemos muchos años de experiencia en workaway. Es uno de esos proyectos donde sientes que el impacto que dejas es real, que no están haciendo volunturismo, y que ambas partes ganan en este precioso intercambio. Fuimos para dos semanas pero nos acabamos quedando un mes! Es cierto que trabajamos muchas horas, pero porque decidimos hacer una película sobre la maravillosa historia de esta asociación y su fundadora, Anastacia. Mario y Tomás, pese a estar en un periodo muy duro de trabajo hicieron lo máximo posible para pasar tiempo con nosotros e introducirnos a la vida Chapina. El alojamiento es sencillo y hay que acostumbrarse a condiciones socioeconómicas duras (desde cortes de agua a la presencia de personas alchólicas y perros en la calle, así como olores fuertes debido a la presencia de un vertedero cerca de la asociación) pero desde luego que vale muchisimo la pena. Las personas, las historias y los lugares que hemos conocido nos han fascinado te reconcilia un poco con el mundo, demostrando como las mujeres, si nos organizamos, podemos ser un motor de cambio imparable. Gracias, gracias, gracias!! Volveremos :) ---------------- Volunteering here has been one of the most rewarding experiences of our lives, and that says a lot considering we already have many years of experience with Workaway. It is one of those projects where you truly feel that the impact you leave is real, that this is not voluntourism, and that both sides genuinely benefit from this beautiful exchange. We initially came for two weeks but ended up staying for a whole month! It is true that we worked many hours, but that was because we decided to make a film about the wonderful story of this association and its founder, Anastacia. Despite going through a very intense and difficult work period themselves, Mario and Tomás did everything they could to spend time with us and introduce us to Chapin life. The accommodation is simple, and you do need to adapt to difficult socioeconomic conditions — from water cuts to the presence of alcoholic people and dogs on the streets, as well as strong smells due to a landfill located near the association — but it is absolutely worth it. The people, the stories, and the places we discovered fascinated us, and it restores a little bit of your faith in the world, showing how women, when organized together, can become an unstoppable force for change. Thank you, thank you, thank you!! We will be back :)

I stayed with Claudia and her parents, Annita and Jonathan, for a month and my time in Calgary was absolutely lovely. I always enjoyed the family meals together where lots of stories and (dad) jokes were told. Claudia as well as her parents have/had very interesting lives and therefore many stories to tell and especially Claudia has a great sense of humor! Nevertheless, there was always enough room to spend time exploring the city and its surrounding areas or relax. Unfortunately it was a little early in the year to enjoy the mountains to their full extend, but the family has many great tips on where to go in the mountains and also lots of funny stories about their adventures. The house itself is in a beautiful location and close to many parks. The two kitties are the center of the house and are absoluetly adorable. I had a wonderful time with Claudia, Annita and Jonathan and I am truely greatful for their very warm welcome which made me feel at home very fast. Thanks for everything and I hope our paths will cross again!
