I spent a week with Nuri and it was one of the most genuine Workaway experiences I've had. The work itself was satisfying, we turned pruned branches into compost, which felt like real farming logic rather than just ticking boxes. Nuri knows his land and he knows why he does what he does. But honestly, the bigger gift was Trabzon itself. Nuri took me around the city, shared its history with so much enthusiasm and knowledge, and even brought me along to a cemetery visit, one of those unexpectedly moving moments that only happen when a local truly opens their world to you. His friends came by too, and every single one of them carried the same warmth and respect he does. Nuri is the kind of person who has seen a lot of life and stayed humble through all of it. You will absolutely learn something from him, about farming, about Trabzon; about how to treat people. Highly recommend.

Yana is a funny and respectful young woman on a big adventure driven by her curiosity. She´s a great housemate, and she helped with various projects during her stay. We had some nice yoga lessons together with Yana & Caroline, going through the 8 Limbs of Yoga in just a week, which was also very inspiring for me as a teacher. Welcome back! :)

One of the best volunteering experiences I’ve ever had. I truly felt at home at William’s place—he is very friendly, and the atmosphere among the volunteers was amazing. It’s a great opportunity to share cultures, learn a lot, and meet wonderful people. He also drove us to different parts of the island, and we enjoyed a lot of hiking, surfing, and fun together. Even though the duration of my stay was uncertain due to the situation in the region, he was very flexible and understanding about it, which helped me a lot. I would definitely recommend Willie’s place—you’ll have an unforgettable experience there. Truly one of the best.

We had the privalige of hosting Andy and Libby for a couple of weeks. Not only are they an enjoyable, entertaining and interesting couple they were keen to share their skills to enhance our lifestyle block and assist renovate a cottage on the property. Andy built a set of garden stairs with competance and ingenuity. Creating a functional, safe acsess from one area of the garden to another. He then tackled a seemingly impossible task of replumbing a disused cottage on the property, again with competance and ingenuity. Consulting where needed and ensuring we were informed at every stage. Meanwhile Libby was assisting in the garden with weeding and other chores, before going on to competantly prep and paint the interior of the cottage which Andy was working on. But possibly the more memorable part of their time with us (on a personal level) was the bond they built with our mildly troubled dog that we rehomed some time before, having been traumatised by having been locked up for 10 years of his life. I called them "dog whisperers" , They would take time with him and take him for long, much appreciated walks which made him a calmer, happier creature. We will miss their company and companionship and wish them every best in their futire travels

Caroline is very polite, funny, and respectful. She´s a great housemate, and she helped with various projects during her stay. She took good care of the house, also while I was gone. And we had some nice yoga lessons together, going through the 8 Limbs of Yoga in just a week, which was also very inspiring for me as a teacher. Welcome back! :)

Zuzanna was an absolute pleasure to host! She is kind, respectful, and brings such a positive energy wherever she goes. From the very beginning, she was eager to help and always completed her tasks with sincerity and dedication. She adapted quickly to the environment, communicated well, and showed great responsibility in everything she did. Beyond her work, she was also wonderful to be around—friendly, open-minded, and easy to connect with. We truly appreciated her presence and the effort she put into contributing to our place. We would happily welcome her back anytime and highly recommend her to any future hosts. Wishing you all the best on your journey, Zuzanna 💛

This was my first Workaway experience, and I could not ask for better! Jone and Jochen were very friendly and bright. I felt really comfortable living with them. There were also two more volunteers at the time I was there, and Jochen and Jone let my friend join later as well. I did some work in the garden, but my main job was to sew pillowcases and curtains. Jone cooked delicious food every day. Although my Spanish was rusty, we admired each other mucho:) Jochen is a great organiser and teacher, and we always had great conversations. In my free time, I explored the beautiful nature around the house, did some yoga, read a book, and we also had a film night together in a big room with a projector. It was a great experience with lovely people, I recommend 100%!!

Both Izabell and Moa are two lovely young ladies who are enjoying travelling around Australia, and soon NZ. They have been with us for almost four months; and have fitted in well with our family. They are a beautiful loving couple, who enjoy joining in with the family dynamics, chilling out together, having a laugh, cooking dinner and yet are very respectful of having their own time and allowing us to have ours. They ask if they are doing a good job, often will seek clarification to make sure they are doing any job correctly, as they don't want to disappoint. This is a good thing as it means they are keen, interested and attentive. They both learn very quickly. They are keen to give anything a try and are not afraid of hard work. They keep the home clean and tidy and will help with the dishes every night, which is amazing. While at my place they have learned a lot about animal care, feeding, keeping yards and pens clean, testing and worming animals, and general yard work. They will both have many memories when they leave to take home with them. They both love the animals very much, and my house dogs will miss them greatly when they leave. (I will be checking their car to make sure one of my dogs is not inside!) They also looked after our home and animals while we went overseas for a week, and was busy working away, along with a few days over Christmas so we could have family time, which was great to know they were looked after and loved. Both girls did everything as I showed them, which was great to see also. They do not hesitate to call you to check if they feel something is not right which is amazing, especially when dealing with animals, as things can go wrong so quickly if left unattended. Moa is a vegetarian, no fish or meat, but super easy to please with food. Izabell is also a vegetarian, but now after being with us eats chicken, and does eat fish too. Again, super easy to feed. Both girls are not hard or difficult with this food choice of theirs. Both Izabell and Moa will be a great addition to any workaway host, and you will not be disappointed having them in your home. This couple is loving, caring, honest, funny, respectful and just want to be part of your home in a loving non-judgmental way. Wishing you both all the best for the rest of your travels and hope you enjoy your new life back home once you get there in a lovely bigger apartment with your cats and new dog:-)

My time with Tony and her family was wonderful. (2 months) I was welcomed in as if I was a member of the family immediately by all of them. Rosalie, Hazel, Alma and Ferdinand are all the sweetest. We had a lot of fun playing cops and robbers and doing origami. Tony is a very kind host and has clear communication around animal care which was great. I absolutely would recommend this stay to people. Positives: -Tony will take you somewhere once a week roughly so you can see the surrounding area(check out Tullys) -Nigel’s jokes, haha maybe this is in the wrong category ;) -The work is pretty easy and repetitive so you will get into a routine fast. Expect feeding and cleaning up after animals(poo) and you will be set. -Outstanding location, you can see the ocean and sunrise every morning and take walks on the beach. -Gorgeous bathroom -Delicious meals made by Tony There are a few things I will note down to consider; -If you come in winter the house is COLD but there is a heating blanket in your room (she is clear on this but it’s worth mentioning) -If you are looking for a super calm organized space this may not be for you. Understandably with a lot of kids and activities, things get chaotic and messy. -A bike is available for use but it is in poor shape so your best bet to get somewhere is the bus. The bus stop is a 15 minute walk away. Getting places is a bit of an event sometimes. -If you walk the dogs please have Tony go with you every now and then so they listen to you. Be careful if you are petite. Vito(the giant sweetheart) has quite the prey drive and even leashed you have to be cognizant of your surroundings. Overall, I would do it again in a heartbeat. Thank you so much for your wonderful hospitality Tony & Family.

Grazie ancora. p.s. Un'altra sua "skills" .. senso dell'umorismo !!

In March 26 I've spent a wonderful month on Hof v:erde. From the first moment when Leo showed me around until the goodbye I felt totally welcome here. I was able to learn a lot about syntropic agroforestry and gardening because Lilly and the team always took a lot of time to explain everything very exactly, answer all our questions and show what to do. Everything is organised very well, but still in the flow and flexible. The whole team is very bighearted and helpful, we had a great time together on the field and in the garden. Thank you so much Lilly, Leo, Mori, Georg and Elsa. I hope to come back soon and taste the strawberries ;)

I had such a lovely time here! Isuru, Chamal, their family and staff welcomed me in and showed me such warmth, hospitality and kindness! Coming away with a very full heart. I spent time in the restaurant taking pictures and videos for social media content. The restaurant itself has such a cool, cosy vibe. I got given my own room which I loved and the chefs made me delicious meals. There is temples, safari and the elephant orphanage all close by. Would highly recommend this workaway experience. Thank you all 🫶

I am very thankful to Emel for agreeing to host me for just a few days, on my way back to Istanbul to catch a flight out of Turkey. It was my last ‘Workaway’ in the country, though it didn’t feel like work at all. Emel was so open and warm from the minute she picked me up at the bus station late at night. Because it was only a few days, I didn’t actually do any of the tasks she required help with, except with babysitting her son Denis while she ran her errands. I felt more like a house guest than a volunteer, as she cooked me fantastic meals, introduced me to her friends, and insisted on taking me out to see some of the amazing archaeological sites in the area, even though she had more pressing matters to tend to, like completing the construction of her house. She was really more a friend than a host. Yes, Emel, we shall meet again soon! :-)

I had the best month ever in Ha Giang ! The Hostel is full of welcoming and inspiring people; both the volunteers and the staff. From the first day, I felt part of the family. and helping with check-ins at reception. But what I really loved is that initiative is always welcomed, and I can’t wait to come back in 3 weeks to help in more creative ways. Also, the loop with Bong was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I still can’t even look at my pictures yet or I’ll crash out. I am forever grateful for the warm welcome, not only at the Hostel but also in Ha Giang City ❤️

Manon is a wonderful volunteer who helped me with all daily tasks. She worked efficiently and precisely. She also loves dogs and used her time to explore the area on foot. She gave me wonderful photos from the trip to the sea where she photographed a school of dolphins. Thank you for your help. Therese

Amazing experience at Cesar’s surf house. Super welcoming vibe, felt like family from day one. Cesar is chill and helpful, and the work is fair. His mother’s food is unreal. authentic, homemade, and honestly one of the highlights. Great spot for surfing, meeting people, and really experiencing Peru beyond the tourist side. Highly recommend🤙🏻

Yukiko came to my house on January 8th -26 and left on April 1st -26. Her job at my house was to help with housework and yard work. There wasn't much snow this winter, so she didn't have to do much snow work. This winter was very cold. In addition to the electric stove, I also have a wood stove, which we used daily during the cold months. Yukiko made sure that there was always firewood inside. She also did the weekly cleaning and helped with the shopping. We cleaned the windows together and managed to do some yard work. She enjoyed to relax in the the sauna and was very interested in Finnish culture. I can warmly recommend her to others and give her a full 5 stars.
