I had an amazing 4 weeks experience here! Both volunteers and the hosting family were such kind and fun people. Also the staff and their children were really lovely and fun to be around. Work was in a manageable amount and really rewarding. One quickly becomes adjusted to being an English teacher. My class consisted of 2-6 adults which were very eager to learn. The Spanish lessons which I received here were also really helpful and made me go from basically 0 Spanish skills to being able to communicating necessities in for example a shop. On the weekends we often did some activities as the group of volunteers and sometimes with the hosting family. Would 100% recommend this workaway and the ice cream service of the families daughter!!!

We adored our time with Sylvain and Luce and are so privileged to have met them. They share a strong background in farming and contributing to their community, and work brilliantly together. Farmers who know and love their land, they have an instinctive feel for what needs to be done, and a great range and depth of skills used both in the home and on the land. Their eagerness to help is incredible, part of their nature. And the bread Luce made from their organic green buckwheat - superb. Thanks so much, Sylvain and Luce

We had an absolutely fantastic Workaway with Shardè, Daniel and their two children Bonnie and Maggie. We felt so at home from the minute we arrived and loved having the opportunity to get stuck in straight away with helping out during their open weekend for the blueberry farm. We loved learning about all elements of farm life and life in that area, and chatting away about all sorts with them. The kids are lovely to be around, Bonnie makes an incredible blueberry ice cream and Maggie is great fun, making assault courses with her and some baking as well! We felt very lucky with our accommodation having our own sleep out with bathroom, which has a lovely view in the valley. We enjoyed spending the evenings on our decking with the dogs and watching different bird life and even deer one evening! The food provided by the family was lovely and we felt lucky to have the opportunity to enjoy homekill meat (not something that happens at home!) Highly recommend a Workaway here if you have the chance, we couldn't have been any happier here and would love to come back one day

I'd like to thank Roberta for everything. Such an easy going person with the same thinking like me, and a fantastic company. She was very self-going and fitted perfectly in my household. We didn't need any rules or routines - it all just went on naturally - like she'd been here before. I think we both are very much alike, but by saying that doesn't mean she wouldn't fit in with somebody else, because I think that's how she is. She adapts very easily. I liked the way how she was very independent - it helps out when you don't have to worry about a stranger being ok in your home. At the same time very social, helpful and easy to get along with. I think we will see each other again some time.

Had five glorious weeks at the hostel, where I basically became an honorary family member (minus the awkward holiday dinners). Huge shoutout to Nina, Nina (yes, there are two - I wasn't seeing double), and mama Jelena for making me feel so at home that I almost forgot I was supposed to be working. The "work" schedule was absolutely brutal: a couple of hours in the morning with the housekeeping and reception. I know, I know - how did I survive? My grueling tasks included setting up the breakfast buffet (strategic food placement is an art form), aggressively mopping floors, cleaning tables and doing dishes, and pretending I knew what I was doing with "small repairs" (everything still standing, so... success?). My room was cozy - and by cozy, I mean small - but perfectly clean and came with an ensuite bathroom that I shared with another room. It's like having a bathroom buddy, but with less commitment than a roommate. Location-wise? Chef's kiss. 20 minutes from the city centre (great for burning off all that free breakfast), and a hop, skip, and jump from the beaches. Speaking of perks: FREE BREAKFAST (did I mention that already? Because FREE BREAKFAST), full kitchen access for when you want to pretend you're on a cooking show, and the management literally sent me on a side quest to their sister hostel in Pula (where I become a dishwashing champion! - for a free accommodation, food and free bike) - Basically became a hostel mercenary :) 10/10 would volunteer again. Highly recommend if you enjoy minimal work, maximum vibes, and incredibly welcoming, kind, fun, and generous people!

Ryan and Kala are truly an exceptional couple — the kind of volunteers every host hopes to welcome at least once. From the very first day, they showed maturity, responsibility, and a genuine willingness to contribute. Ryan, originally from Kenya, and Kala, from the United States, bring a beautiful intercultural perspective that enriches conversations and daily life alike. They are thoughtful, well-educated, curious, and deeply respectful — qualities that make them not only excellent volunteers, but wonderful human beings. They supported us in multiple areas. They participated actively in farm duties — especially in the milking process — always attentive, careful, and eager to learn. They never shied away from early mornings or physically demanding tasks. Their attitude was consistent: focused, disciplined, and positive. Beyond farm work, they generously offered their skills in other areas. They helped me with personal projects, assisted with household organization, and even supported maintenance and technical matters around the house. Their versatility is remarkable. They don’t simply “complete tasks”; they take ownership, think proactively, and look for ways to improve whatever they are involved in. What truly sets them apart, however, is their spirit. They are joyful without being superficial, committed without being rigid. Time spent with them — whether during work hours or over coffee and wine — is genuinely enjoyable. They are capable of engaging in deep, meaningful conversations as easily as sharing lighthearted laughter. Their presence brings both energy and calm. Kala and Ryan are the perfect balance of fun and commitment — reliable, intelligent, adaptable, and kind. We recommend them wholeheartedly and without hesitation. We love you, guys. This is home. Hope to see you soon again. Música, Avena, Ámbar, Arpa, Musa, Maravilla, Toro, Maracas, Abby, Musli, Mar, and Beethoven, Tigre, Perro, and specially CHIQUIS, say: HI, sending you much love!

I had the pleasure of hosting Dani as part of our team, and he was a delight to work with. Friendly, kind, and hardworking, he proved to be reliable in the tasks he took on -from maintenance to reception, and always ready to help wherever needed elsewhere. His communication skills with guests, coworkers and myself were excellent. We created beautiful memories together. Thank you for everything Dani! We hope to see you again..

Great little property in the middle of Haida Gwaii, perfect positioning for exploring north and south of Graham Island. Vanessa is great at communicating and keeping things clear and was a great host. Lots of projects to get done around the cabin for someone handy, and a great little garden space for the summer. I house-sat for a month in January, and got to take care of a very cute and cuddly cat : ) Must be happy with using an outhouse and not having running water - but has good wifi and a great beach a few minutes walk away. There is a converted van on-site, but I think people (who won't be house-sitting) with their own converted vans/campers would be best suited for this stay so that they are comfortable and cosy. There are also other Workaway homes around Tlell, and I'm sure in the busy summer months you would meet other travellers!

Our experience staying with Turkan, Veysi and Yaz was amazing. They were incredibly welcoming hosts and we had a beautiful cultural experience in the Turkish mountains - they truly welcomed us into their family. We stayed in a lovely yurt and assisted with all manner of activities on the farm. The food cooked was super delicious and healthy. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and we were able to explore in our spare time. We can't wait to hopefully return in the not too distant future.

It was a pleasure hosting Reby and her daughter Opal for two weeks. Despite some very challenging weather — and the fact that I was indisposed during their stay — they were incredibly positive, adaptable, and supportive throughout (thanks for the freshly squeezed orange juice and healing herbs). They did a fantastic job looking after my young, very active dog, Dante. Managing an energetic dog is no small task, but they handled it brilliantly! They made sure he was walked most days, rain or shine, and even played football with him to help burn off some of that endless energy. I was also away for a few days, and they coped confidently and responsibly, which gave me real peace of mind. It was clear he was happy, well cared for, and thoroughly enjoyed the extra attention. They were considerate, easy to have around, and very respectful of the space. They left everything in perfect order before they left the casita, which I really appreciated. I’m very grateful for their help and would happily recommend them to any future host. They would be a real asset to any Workaway experience. Thank you both again — Dante misses his football partner already!

I was housesitting for Jen and Tim, so only spent a short time with them either side of their trip. They are both wonderfully warm and welcoming people, and were extremely generous in terms of food and supplies. The farm is beautiful, and the small tasks that I did consisted of walking and feeding the farm dogs and a little gardening. Cheeky Jack Russell Winnie and kitty Chausettes kept me company, and there are many beautiful places to explore — I recommend a swim at Gore Bay! Thanks Jen and Tim for a lovely stay ☺️

I spent three amazing months in Castletownbere ☘️ During the days with guests, I took care of housekeeping and laundry for the Guesthouse, ensuring everything was ready for them. I also made sure our shared living space was always clean and organized :) On quieter days, I stayed proactive by finding maintenance tasks or deep cleaning common areas. I also helped with the guesthouse's rebranding, designing a new logo and a plan for the new website and social media. It was a very productive and peaceful time! Denis is a very respectful and generous host with a great sense of humor. He is a fantastic cook -I loved trying his typical Irish dishes!- I always felt comfortable and at home. I’ll truly miss his family and especially Bruno, the dog, we became great friends 💗 I’m so grateful for this exchange. I'm sure I'll be back and we will stay in touch. Highly recommended! ☘️🧚

We had the pleasure of hosting Agathe for almost three weeks, and it was a wonderful experience! She integrated perfectly into our daily life focused on Ayurvedic nutrition and permaculture gardening. Agathe is a rare combination of pragmatic and innovative. She has a brilliant mind that constantly comes up with creative ideas, and she's remarkably quick at understanding and adapting to new tasks. Whether it was helping with permaculture work in the garden, bricolage projects around the house, or preparing healthy sweets and nutritious meals together in the kitchen, she approached everything with enthusiasm and intelligence. Her ability to learn quickly and contribute meaningfully made her an invaluable help. She's not just a hard worker, but someone who brings fresh perspectives and solutions to whatever she's doing. We highly recommend Agathe to any host looking for a creative, capable, and pleasant volunteer. She would be an asset to any project! We love you so much mon chou 🫂 Alberto and Vida

Csilla and her family are wonderful people! I got a little lost on my way to them, but when I arrived she gave me the warmest hug and the stress of the journey just melted away. She knows a lot about natural ways to heal the body, and it was so nice to talk about it with her. We practised Wim Hof breathing together (almost) every morning. I helped out with some cleaning projects around the house and got to learn some fun new things (like chopping wood with a machete, so cool!). They're a very energetic, generous, and kind family. I got to share fun activities with them, like going to the beach, and they even lent me a bike to use while I was there. Thanks for everything 💜

Miguel is such an amazing host. I had the most fun time while learning sooooo much. he's a sustainable lifestyle genius. I fell in love with the place as well. I had the most amazing sunrise and sunset hikes with the dogs accompanying me of course. Also, he knows the community and the place very well. so you'll get some wonderful recommendations. I am already missing the sun cooked meals and Miguel's witty humour. For me, two weeks were just not enough so I came back for another week 😂 and I can keep coming back whenever I get a chance and learn and laugh more at this lovely place and the wonderful host✨

My friend and I stayed at Refugio 2 and helped with various tasks such as walking the dogs, feeding and caring for them, as well as working in the garden (weeding, helping in the tomato greenhouse, repotting plants, and mopping floors). The work was simple and flexible. We stayed with Nelly, her husband, son, and nephew. The family is very warm and generous. We felt welcome, received great tips, and were allowed to use fruits and vegetables from the garden for our own consumption – which we really appreciated. However, we only saw Jheymi once briefly. She seems to be very busy and promised us things like a hammock and a razor for the dogs, but we never received them. Upon arrival, there were a few things that could be improved. In one room, the light was not working, there was no table or chairs, and since no one had stayed there for a while, it was a bit dirty. With some initiative, however, everything could be cleaned and arranged well. It is also important to know that items such as toilet paper, dishwashing liquid, cleaning sponges, or soap need to be organized by yourself. Additionally, this is not a classic animal shelter, but rather a finca with currently seven dogs.
