I couldn't have dreamed of a better first Workaway experience! I had all the privacy and comfort I needed in a cosy, well-heated room. I also particularly appreciated having my own bathroom. I am very grateful for their warm welcome, which made me feel like part of their family from day one. Elke and her family are patient, open-minded and kind people. The tasks I performed were very easy to manage and left me with plenty of free time. I thank them for their support and consideration during the few days I spent interviewing :) It was a real pleasure to stay in their beautiful house. The snow made your neighbourhood so pretty with all the Christmas lights! I stayed for only 3 weeks but I would have happily stayed for much longer. Thank you for this wonderful experience <3 For future workawayers, I highly recommend this host family. Don't hesitate and take good care of them!

I’m grateful that I spent my last month in Australia with Vivienne and Alby. My time with Vivienne was incredible. She was incredibly kind and always made me feel welcome. Whenever she had the time, she showed me different places, and I learned so many new things. Her cooking, especially, was some of the most delicious food I had in Australia. Alby is a wonderful, creative little boy who needs a bit of time at first, but once he feels comfortable, he is very lovely and easy to interact with.

By the looks of it, everyone else here has already praised all the things we wanted to point out krkrkrkr. But all jokes aside! We were thrilled arriving at your beautiful home last summer. The atmosphere, the people, the energy and everything that came in touch with it felt truly magical. Our definite favourite was the good conversations at the dinner tables- we laughed, discussed, agreed and dissagreed and fell into a hug at the end of the night. We really hope to meet the people who made the place so special again one day, and all the thankyous in the world for making this opportunity avaliable to us 😊🫶

Thom stayed here two weeks and immediately fell into the groove of things here. Right away, he was eager to expand his construction abilities by working with our master welder and helping with many tasks we had going on around the property. Our welder actually asked if he could stay longer because he was so helpful and learned so quickly. He's also an exceptional guitarist and very friendly to be around in general. You would be very lucky to have him on your property as he travels.

Super nice experience,really enjoyed it. Dani and the all Team are super friendly and always ready to answer questions. Work is easy and fun. The dogs and horses are so lovely. This is not a place if you want action or a deep cultural experience. This is a calm place lost middle of nowhere. Perfect to relax,calm down and enjoy the animal.and nature.

I honestly didn’t know where to begin when trying to describe this experience, because words don’t fully do it justice. Volunteering with these stateless kids was one of the most meaningful things I’ve ever done. These children are real-life fighters. Not only in martial arts, but in life itself. Their strength, resilience, positivity, and kindness, despite everything they’ve faced—left me in constant awe. They gave me so much more than I could ever give them. Alvin and Alice are extraordinary human beings. What they’ve built here is powered entirely by heart, sacrifice, and love. They pour their souls into this place and into every child, and you can feel it in everything they do. This project exists because of their passion, and it is nothing short of inspiring. And then there’s Pola and Max—my baby girl and boy. Those dogs became family. They brought comfort, joy, and so many smiles, and they completely stole my heart. This was the best month of my life. I’m beyond grateful for every moment, every lesson, every connection. Leaving was incredibly hard, and a part of my heart will always stay here. I hope to be back one day❤️

Hice un voluntariado con Ignacio en Valparaíso y me quedo con una experiencia muy bonita. Ignacio es muy amable, disponible y siempre dispuesto a ayudar. Comparte muchísima información y consejos para descubrir la ciudad, lo que crea un verdadero intercambio cultural. Incluso me llevó a recorrer el viejo Valpo con un amigo suyo — un momento auténtico y muy agradable. Disfruté mucho mi tiempo aquí y, si no hubiera tenido otro voluntariado ya previsto, me habría quedado más tiempo. Lo recomiendo sin dudar. No duden en contactarme si quieren más detalles.

It was lovely having Monika stay with us. From the moment we picked her up at the airport I knew we were going to have a nice few days. She helped me with cleaning around the house, cooking dinners, did some baking with the kids which they loved and spent time with the kids playing with them. My 6 year old daughter was crying when she left. She is very easy company, kind, hard working and will fit in anywhere to any environment.

I stayed here for one month from 26 December to 25 January. The location itself is beautiful and remote, perfect for nature lovers - likely much nicer in the summer. However, my experience was mixed. While the wife is generally nice, she can be passive-aggressive. A significant issue was that she registered me with a Bavarian health insurance without my consent, despite me already having Dutch coverage. This caused unnecessary complications. The work schedule was not as advertised. While the profile states 4–5 hours per day, the reality was often split shifts: working from about 10:00–14:00/15:00, then expected to help again for around 2 hours in the evening after a break. I strongly recommend keeping your own hour log. Hours were frequently rounded down or inaccurately recorded, with the same generic entries made each day. *REDACTED* The work environment felt transactional rather than cultural. I was told by the owner, “You should function, not be creative.” This sums up the atmosphere: you are expected to work quietly and efficiently. There is little genuine cultural exchange in my view. This feels more like a search for affordable labour. A note on kitchen practices: I observed questionable hygiene standards, including food being picked up from the floor and returned to the pot or getting the instruction to wash mold off of food. Overall, if you are looking for a true Workaway spirit of exchange and respect, this may not be the place. If you simply want a remote job in a beautiful setting and can tolerate rigid management, it might work. But go in with clear agreements and documented hours.

I spent three weeks from January to February 2026 staying with Charlotte at her mountainside paradise near Lanjarón. The views down into the valley and off into the distance never got tiresome owing to the natural beauty and openness in every direction. The mountains are full of hikes and trails, particularly along the acequias, Charlotte is extremely knowledgeable of the local area and makes some great recommendations. The work varied according to priority and weather. I was involved in a very brief olive harvest, chopped firewood, helped construct drystone walls & steps, excavated, cooked, pruned, and threw estiércol. I was never bored or frustrated since the work felt rewarding and Charlotte was always very clear in her instructions. I would recommend this workaway to anyone, I found myself in a very peaceful state of mind and had plenty of time to focus on reading next to the fire. Charlotte is a wonderful host who I felt I got along with really well. She was always attentive and helpful, her kindness contributed greatly to my experience and I already miss our chats. Thank you again for everything!

What an incredible experience :) I spent a month a the sanctuary, and I learnt so much ! About animals of course, but also about myself. So many things that seemed too hard for me (because sanctuary life is tough when you're not use to it, you must be prepared to get out of your comfort zone). But if you trust yourself to overcome your struggles, then you'll discover your true strengh. The sanctuary is such a beautiful, safe home for the animals living there. I truly felt that my work for them mattered. That made me wake up with energy every morning, and kept a smile on my face everyday. Many thanks to Alice and Noel for all their work to make the world a better place ! Love to everyone, but special thoughts and a thousand kisses to Gaia (most beautiful soul I met there) <3

Lily is a hard-working and dependable volunteer who brings friendly, positive energy to everything she does. She clearly loved having cats around her and was always ready to give them comfort and cuddles. An artist, she also painted lovely pictures for us, which we will always look at and think of Lily. Reliable, warm, and deeply caring, she made a lasting and positive impact on both the cats and the team.

Libbi worked exceptionally well at all times. She was mostly working in the clinic caring for sick cats, and always showed deep compassion and attentiveness to their needs. She brought a consistently cheerful, positive energy to the team and was truly a ray of sunshine, even during difficult days. Her kindness, empathy, and dedication made a real difference to both the cats and the people around her, and we are very grateful for her support.

I really enjoyed the time I spent with Brooke and her son Darcy on their breathtaking property. Brooke is a very warm person and we had very interesting conversations. The work involved gardening and household chores. We were free to decide, when we wanted to do the work. She also asked us what we wanted to eat and then bought it. I can highly recommend Brooke as a host. I arrived as a stranger and left as a friend. Thank you for everything!

Tara was a very reliable, trustworthy and caring volunteer who approached her role with calmness, responsibility, and genuine compassion for the cats. She maintained regular contact with the owners of the hotel cats and showed strong commitment beyond the shelter itself. In addition, she raised a staggering amount of money through a GoFundMe fundraiser for her birthday, providing invaluable support to our work. Tara’s dedication, initiative, and kindness make her a truly valued volunteer.

I had an absolutely incredible time at the farm! The host Manee is a truly special person who has an amazing mindset and a very clear perspective on community building and empowerment of locals. She is a selfless person who invests so much into this social cause without a direct personal benefit from it. I‘m convinced that her dedication has a big impact on the life of local people here. This made the volunteering feel extremely meaningful. From my perspective Loei is an underestimated place filled with many small wonders and beautiful experiences. Also it was so much easier to get here than I thought. Though I was mostly working on gardening and mushrooms, it would be hard for me to really summarize the tasks I did during my stay since there were just so many different things to explore. The diverse projects made every single day unique and enabled me to learn so much more than I would have ever expected. I’m incredibly grateful for the experience I was allowed to have on the farm and would definitely love to come back here one day. I also would have liked to contribute so much more as I feel like it‘s so difficult to ever repay Manee for all the dedication and work she puts into the farm, the community and the connection to us volunteers. Manee and P’Noi, both of you are wonderful. Thank you so much for sharing not only your space but also your perspective on life and your love with me.

Naomi lived with us for a month. When she arrived she took care of the dogs and the house for a few days while we were on vacation. Then when we came back she also helped me with the children. She helped me a lot at home and with the dogs, taking them for a walk every day, they were in love with her. Even in the kitchen she has been busy cooking vegan recipes that children would also like. She was very good at helping the kids with their homework and playing with my youngest son, who has a lot of energy! Even in the garden she was very helpful and with the wood to put in place and also to paint a small bath in the house. In short, I can say that it was a pleasure to host Naomi, she is a willing girl who never backs down from doing things, respectful and kind-hearted.

I spent an amazing time with Todd, Wiebek, Marlo and Mallie ! This was my first Workaway experience and I couldn’t have asked for anything better. They welcomed me like a member of their family and I shared unforgettable moments with them. Marlo and Mallie were wonderful with me and we had so much fun together. Todd and Wiebek are truly amazing people and I’m very happy to have met them. Thank you again for everything and I hope to see you again soon !😊🌼
