The time we spend here was a dream! We stayed 2 and a half weeks and the first thing that was absolutely amazing about the two of them is their flexibility. Since our original Host cancelled us, we could come to them within one day and going on had such a beautiful time! We made quiet some progress in the garden which was amazing to see but not only the work was cool. The location is great too! We made trips to the see but were also able to go to the city by foot or use the bikes. But naturewise their region is absutely fabulus! We met friends of them and also another workawayer with whom it was a great time. So we can really recommend visiting them and having a beautiful experience at Argeles-sur-Mer!

We spend 2 weeks with Miriam and Sandro and it was a perfect time! The two of them are very loveley and even though we were surprised by their baby (was not mentioned in the profile) we really enjoyed every Minut we had there. They went to markets with us but also let us use their car so we can go alone to some places since their Home is really far away from everything. Ecept from nature which is great around their place. We made lots of Gardenwork but also helped in the Household with cleaning and cooking. Overall it was a great experience and I can defenately reommend it to everyone!

Wow.. it is a pretty one-of-a-kind experience that I think it would benefit those of all walks of life to experience. The base and work is run in the most organised and supportive way I have ever experienced in my years of volunteering, and the culture this creates between the short and long term volunteers, the staff and the locals is quite amazing - you will join alone and leave with a family. The work is tough, the mornings are early, and the joy is immeasurable - it's really hard to fault it. I came for only 5 weeks but when the project end was delayed/extended I knew it was a call for me to come back and I returned for the end as well, celebrating a hard job very well done. Talking about the work seems almost redundant, you'll be doing manual labour on a construction site, you're catered for (incredible food - double Dal Bhat Dal Bhat Dal Bhat Dal Bhat every day), everyone is there to help and wants you to succeed I really just see no reason why anyone reading this review would not have already applied, and if you're accepted, well, I guess I'll just say I'll see you at the next project. Much love to all the team that make this and all the other projects you do happen.

Chiara stayed with us for five days, and in that short time she truly became part of our family. From the moment she arrived, she was warm, kind, and incredibly attentive to everything around her. She went above and beyond to help us in so many ways. One of the most special things she did was create our Instagram page, giving our place a beautiful online presence. She also spent time helping our niece and nephew with their English, which meant a lot to us and to them. Chiara didn’t just stay with us, she contributed. She shared thoughtful ideas on how we can improve our place, and her input has genuinely inspired us. Her energy, creativity, and willingness to help made a real difference. We are truly grateful for everything she has done for us. We wish her nothing but the very best on her future journeys, and she will always be welcome here anytime. Our door is open for her, just like family.

We are very grateful to Marie for the time, care, and experience she brought to our project. She arrived with years of knowledge and a collaborative spirit, working closely with our team to better understand the needs, requests, and cultural context of the local mamas. Her respectful approach and willingness to listen created a strong foundation of trust and meaningful exchange. Even after her stay, Marie has remained actively engaged, continuing to support and monitor the work alongside the mamas. Thanks to this ongoing connection, many of the women are growing in confidence and strengthening their skills, which is creating positive ripple effects within the community. We also appreciate the patience and dedication it took for this experience to finally happen. Although Marie was not able to join at the first time she had planned, we stayed in touch, and we are very happy that it became possible when the timing was right. We are thankful for her genuine interest, respect, and ongoing engagement, and we look forward to continuing this journey together!

Rody is an easy going person with lots of experience and life stories that make up for passionate conversations. He is always eager to help, in particular in terms of research, and connecting people and resources. We had to let him go prematurely, as he was not enough present for the tasks at hand on our farm.

Even though I stayed here for only a week, Neri made me feel like a member of the family. I don’t regret going to Albania in March, because this place was amazing - even though there was a little bit of snow and you couldn’t, for example, swim in the lake (unless you enjoy cold-water swimming) or eat fresh fruits and vegetables. Neri is such a kind-hearted person; we had some deep conversations together. On the other hand, his uncle Dori is the “funny guy” who always makes the whole room laugh. Staying here felt more like petting animals around the house, chatting over good food, or visiting neighbors and Neri’s family members and having coffee with them. I almost didn’t feel like I was working here, even though we of course worked on some projects together as well. If you want to, you can take some time for yourself and do your own things, but if not, you can spend the whole day with Neri - it’s up to you. :) We also went hiking together. I highly recommend this place, and I hope I will come back one day. I don’t think my first Workaway could have gone any better.

We stayed in Rovaniemi for the whole December 2025 and January 2026. During this time, we worked at the hostel and lived in a small house in the backyard. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and also liked our work at the hostel. Together with other volunteers and guests we became a little hostel-family and it was a bit sad, when we left the hostel after two months. But there were also several challenges that future volunteers should be aware of. During December, especially around Christmas and New Year, the workload was very high. There was constantly a lot to do, and we often had to manage everything on our own, as Chris was most of the time not present at the hostel. In contrast, January was much quieter, and the workload was significantly lighter. Chris is a fun person to be around, and with his help, you can experience a lot. He showed us some really cool places, lent us his car for day trips, and we went to concerts and ice hockey games together. However, it’s important to mention that communication and organization can be challenging. Chris tends to be very spontaneous and somewhat chaotic, which can make planning and daily work less structured. Because of this, this place is best suited for independent, flexible, and self-motivated people who are comfortable taking responsibility without much guidance. All in all, we are happy with our stay, and over these two months, Chris became a friend to us. We hope to see each other again someday.

Mael and Selma were exceptional. They were extremely helpful, friendly, chatty, enjoyable to be around and an all-round delight. They are great workers and were keen to get their tasks accomplished with excellence. They helped us with a lot of painting of bedrooms in preparation for upcoming residencies, they helped with gardening and levelling our overgrown and uneven terrace garden. They were wonderful to have conversations with around the dinner table in the evenings. Thank you Mael and Selma!

It was a pleasure to host Romain. He was very helpful, very kind and he engaged in interesting conversation. He helped us to paint some rooms in preparation of upcoming residencies and events, he helped to prepare the garden for planting and helped with organisation around the property. We really value his help and his presence here at our residency. Thank you Romain!

This spring i had the pleasure to volunteer at Hof [v]Erde and it was just what i needed. In short: Very well organized, hard working, skilled team here. Down to earth, friendly people, good accomodation. Process of welcoming volunteers runs smoothly. Recommended for self-starting individuals who want to experience both young and maturing syntropic lines first hand. A good place to stay for a longer period of time. And if you're interested in the long version read on below;) The Hof is located in a small and friendly village. The syntropic system is on a 5 mins bike distance. Amazingly cute and picturesque surroundings. Spring time is a busy time. Lots to do, seeding, weeding, planting. All work was well organized and clearly explained. Workload fair and work time well divided over the week. Volunteer coordinator Elsa very knowledgeable about plants and herbs, can teach you a lot. And always a smile on her face:) A bunch of friendly and sociable local volunteers are reguraly coming to help too. Learned a lot and there's so much more to learn about syntropic! As volunteers we were provided with private trailers. We could hang out in the cozy volunteerkitchen with adjacent space with woodstove. A stock of basic vegan food provided in abundance. Books to read. They took my annoying food allergies into account. Generously provided us with bicycles, warm blankets, hot-water bottles. Georg always available for a friendly chat and has tips for nice places to visit. There's a sweet kitty who likes to be cuddled:) To name a few of the moments i will cherish: Completing the syntropic line, seeding carrots in the market and home garden Playing guitar and singing beside the fire with my lovely fellow volunteer Larissa ^_^ Lauging an eating waffles freshly made by Georg and Morritz with so much love and gusto! Very warmly recommended for people who enjoy ...Working in the gardens and learning about syntropic agroforrestry of course! ...having time to themselves and cooking their own meals ...exploring the Frankonian countryside Wishing the project all the best and very curious to come back and see the maturing of lines we've helped to plant!

When I first saw her profile, I really liked her. She seemed gentle and calm, and the fact that she only had one brief review did not concern me. I needed to undergo surgery, which I had already delayed as much as possible. I had planned to return on the 12th, but in the middle of everything I contracted COVID and developed an inner ear infection. I was hospitalised for four days and then had to return daily for IV antibiotic treatment, making flying impossible at that time. I want to emphasise that I am very grateful to her for her help during this period. While I was stuck in Spain for two additional weeks, she asked me for €600, which I agreed to without hesitation. During this time, she would send me pictures of the animals. The honest truth is that I did not distrust her regarding their care. She explained that she had missed a funeral and a meeting with friends 300 km away because she did not want to leave Heidi alone. I told her she could have informed me about the funeral, and I would have made alternative arrangements so she could attend. She also mentioned that she was losing money because she had rented a house and could not stay there. She was extremely insistent that I return as soon as possible. However, I repeatedly told her she was free to leave if needed, but she chose to stay. All of our communication was through WhatsApp, and I have kept records of everything. I also had to place all her dirty dishes in a corner, as she would often leave them for me to clean. During this period, Theo developed what seemed like a wound on his head. I asked her to take him to the vet. She agreed but said I would have to cover the petrol costs. However, when I saw the ticket, it wasn’t just petrol—I was effectively paying for her time as well, since it’s impossible that 30 km would cost €20. She claimed that diesel prices were very high. I also vouched for her for a job in the same place I work. I gave her everything she asked for and even offered more while I was in the hospital. When I arrived home, the smell of a smoking substance was overwhelming. I gave her the money she requested, and she placed it somewhere before going outside. When she returned, she claimed she couldn’t find it and kept repeating, “This is weird, this is weird.” I told her I did not have her money. Eventually, it turned out she had placed it in one of her books but couldn’t remember where. The smell of the smoking substance was so strong that I had to bathe Heidi the following day. Theo’s wound was not improving, so I took him to a different vet. The vet asked me to compile all events regarding the wound. Since I was not present, I asked her for information. She said she was very tired and would reply the next day. I sent another WhatsApp message, pleading for her response, and she said she was on her own time. On my way to the airport in Spain, I told her I would take the bus at 9 PM because my flight landed at 5:20 PM. She questioned why I wasn’t taking an earlier bus at 5 PM. My response was not very polite, and that is true—but at that point I was beyond disappointed with everything. My feeling is that she has been using Theo to hurt me, which is deeply upsetting. Honestly, I do not want to play the victim, but I cannot understand how, after everything I gave her, she would behave in a way that put the wellbeing of an innocent animal at risk. That says a lot about her priorities. So yes, she stayed here unexpectedly for almost a month. I paid her what she asked for, including the “losses” she claimed she had regarding her house.#redacted# I honestly feel ripped off and used by her. What hurts the most is that she did not care about the cat. All I needed was confirmation of when she first saw Theo’s wound, and even that seemed to be ignored.

Trully amazing hosts! Uttam and Sahadev treated me like family since the first moment. If you want to know the real Nepal go stay with them. I learned from them so much and I only wish I can spend more time with them, Top Workaway host but you need to be proactive and show you are motivated to participate as they would never ask you to work for them.

Fabian was nicely motivated and got to work both independently and with the other volunteers. He turned out to be a natural talent for welding and for our welder it was a great pleasure to teach him! We shared meals and also attended a concert. And we hope to see him again in about a month when he plays the horn at the Rotterdam Concertgebouw! Thanks Fabian!

I embarked on this trip with a very specific goal in mind: I was looking for a place where I could work on my book away from people, outside my comfort zone, but in peace, as part of an ongoing writing project. The nearly one month I spent at Julia and Hardy’s home, looking after their dogs while they were away, gave me exactly what I needed: far from the noise of the world, in beautiful surroundings, immersed in the soothing rhythm of daily routine, I was able to focus on my own work. The experience was both personally and artistically enriching. The little time I spent in Julia and Hardy’s company was enough for me to realize what wonderful hosts and amazing people they are. It was a pleasure to get to know them, and I hope to visit them again someday under different circumstances, because just like the place itself, they have so much to offer.

What a nice, funny and lovely couple are you two. And what a surprise when we came back to our house. You both took great care of our house, chickens and garden. and also did some awesome jobs. Feel always welcome for a visit or short stay.

We really enjoyed Steve's short stay with us. He is interesting, kind and fun to be around. Steve got in and tackled all the outdoor tasks with enthusiasm, worked well with our other WorkAway, Sam and fitted into the household routines easily. Holly thoroughly enjoyed his calm and supportive presence and was sad to say goodbye to him. Thanks Steve for joining us, we wish you all the best with your future travels, we hope this adventure can shed some light on what you want to do next. Best of luck.
