Dog & house sitters needed for the rest of july & august!
We are also looking for dog & house sitters over autumn & winter. reach out if you are interested to stay here anytime between now & march 27. We are looking for people who can stay for the duration of a month at least.

    Hello to you ~
If you want to explore living semi-off grid in a wild mountain area with our two dogs, this is for you. We are looking for reliable dog & house sitters for about a month, possibly longer, for July and August. Best would be a couple or friends unless you are looking for some quiet time & solitude in nature by yourself.

Your main job would be taking care of our two dogs. One is a livestock guardian dog & the other a mix of the best there is. They are big dogs, so you should be okay and comfortable with that. Since we live quite secluded, they can be sceptical of strangers and it can take a while for them to be okay with house guest/s. So it's important that you take your time with introductions. They are the kindest, funniest and warmest you can imagine & will take incredibly good care of everyone here.
They are 10/9 years old and their needs are not complicated since they are mostly around the house. feed them twice, a walk in the evening 30mins is what they are used to and enjoy. There are certain areas where you can walk with them freely and others where we would ask you to keep the dogs at home in case you would like to go there. We always interact with our dogs in a respectful way, they are not used to dominance and useless harsh body language but instead to connection, trust and clear communication. It is necessary for you to have a similar approach to being with them and building relationship. there is so much they can teach you, if you let them.

    about our place:
It's an old country house with a 45qm liveable space, two rooms and one bathroom. It is equipped with running rainwater via reservoir, washing machine, a bathroom with bathtub and a wood boiler, connection to power-grid 220v, internet via mobile network (4g coverage, 1mb/s average) and a solar shower that we use all summer. Bed, blankets, all you need will be provided. There is a natural mountain spring for drinking water, some 150m away from the house.
The place is secluded, you have no direct neighbours. You can sing whatever you want whenever you want. If you want to you can go days without even hearing anything but birds and dogs. There is a big garden and orchard around the house. The surrounding land is filled with meadows, forest, hills and mountains.

Its 800m walking to our car parking lot. With an offroad- vehicle, you could park directly at the house. The village has a very basic store you shouldnt rely on, the next local supermarket is 20km away. Closest town with all amnenities is 38km (lidl kaufland etc). sibiu is 1,5 and cluj 2 hours drive away respectively.

Our place is beautiful and yet it is what many might consider very basic. It is a semi-off grid experience to stay here and if you are not used to living this way, it might take a little to get used to it. The house is old and the floors and doors squeak.
In general, this is a way of living that is much more closely connected and in touch with the earth & the outside elements.

It's not for you if you are looking for a luxury mountain retreat and are afraid to get your hands or clothes muddy. But if you want to slow down, reconnect, create, forage mulberries and plums, run with the dogs, this is for you!

If you would like to tend to the garden while we are away, that would be beautiful. It's not a lot to do, mostly watering the plants & harvesting whatever is ripe & what you enjoy.

Housesitting dates are flexible. We are basically looking for someone who can commit to being here for at least a month. The rest of july/August would be best. Please feel free to write even if you could only come at a later point. We still have to book our tickets so it's flexible and we can discuss the dates further. It would be good and necessary that you could arrive three days before we leave so that we can show you everything with the dogs and the place.

    our spring/summer/autumn volunteer listing:

    Hello to you~
this is to those who would like to be immersed in a wild place & tend to a garden where shiny lizards sunbathe.

i'm julia & i live in a little, old house, nestled on the side of a mountain. my partner & i moved here during autumn 2017, after having been led to this region two times the years before. it all aligned in the most beautiful way & we found the place our hearts wished for, surrounded by meadows, forest & mountains.

i am an artist & herbalist who is devoted to the earth, plant & animal kin. In many ways, my work with the plant kin has become one of the most beautiful ways for me to connect with other humans.
I also have a background in fine arts & photography which very much informs my work.

If you are an herbalist or artist who is looking for a place to be for a while~ reach out.

Our place is very secluded, hermit like & immersed in nature.
We are living slowly & in connection with the land & seasons, We live together with two dogs, who are our closest companions. During summer, my days are quite full with tending to the garden and following my herbcraft.
I practice yoga since ten years, which is a deeply nourishing & beautiful practice for me.

I am looking for a few kind hearted & weird humans to help out a bit on the land & in the house,
so that i can read out more poems to the lizards & dip my feet into the pond,
watch the flowers dance in the wind & the frogs dive into the water
& walk where my heart pulls me whenever i like ~

The land has it's own ways & we leave a lot of space for those to unfold. So there are no big building projects & no big transformations of the landscape. All that happens comes into being slowly & after feeling into what is needed, what is wanted by the land. i am inspired by forest gardening and by permaculture design & principles ,but i feel that it all comes back to not simply apply human visions onto the land but rather to find ways that feel like moving together.

there are small tasks in & around the garden,
there is the daily getting water from the mountain spring on the land,
there are many little fruit trees to be tended to, to be watered & mulched,
there is the berry garden that continues to come into being,
food for the compost pile to be gathered,
a little space for chickens to be made that you can help with if you like,
there are gentle tasks around and in the house,
there is a big fruit harvest (most years) in late summer, early autumn.

Other things that come to my mind are a little winter garden i would like to create behind the house with old wooden windows i have gathered, if that interests you, you are welcome to join.

That is what i can think of for now.
    As you might see,
this is for those who are looking for a calm place to be, who wish to find connection with the earth, who have a sense and feeling for others ( not just the human kin) & their surrounding.

I truly enjoy company of those who are kind hearted. Who know nuance. Who care. Who prefer birdsong over constant human chatter and are also okay with spending time by themselves, who keep seeking queer and creative concepts of gender and family.

If you would like to learn about herbs, flowers, medicinal gardening or sustainable wild crafting, i am a life long student of the plant beings and happy to share about them with you~

    a sort of disclaimer:
please only write to me if you are someone who loves dogs and respects them. who doesn't see them as merely pets who have to submit or constantly behave the way humans wants. we always interact with our dogs in a respectful way, they are not used to loud dominance and useless harsh body language but instead to connection, trust, respect and clear communication. It is necessary for you to have a similar approach to being with them and building relationship.

also, please don't write if you are into conspiracy things, theories etc.
in case you feel sick or have been sick (covid, flu symptoms, etc) it is important for me that you mention that & are someone who takes care of the people around you, has the awareness to do so without me having to first ask you about it.

If you are still here reading this
    reach out.
    welcome!
    A warm hello your way,
let me offer you a cup of tea ~

This place is so beautiful, wild & abundant, i look forward to share it with you ~
