Description
Hi interested readers!
My wife and I are semi retired/retired on our farm near Millarville, Alberta. The farm is nestled in the Rocky Mountain foothills. We are here on 40 acres with a big garden, dogs, cats, horses, chickens and bees!Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We are English speakers, although my wife speaks Dutch and we are both familiar with Spanish. We are hobby farmers so the experience is in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Nevertheless there are always tasks to do, and with that comes the satisfaction of learning practical skills, solving problems and completing tasks on a timely basis. We look forward to sharing aspects of our life experiences with our guests in a uniquely Canadian setting, and learning more about the world from one another.
Help
Naturally, there is no shortage of tasks to do on the farm, particularly in spring, summer and autumn. The tasks are mainly general maintenance such as mowing and strimming grass, power washing around the garden and buildings, fencing, logging windfall, and clearing and chipping brush around the acreage. In addition, there are always projects on the go such as building stiles, restoring the stable block, reflooring the tack room, installing false ceilings etc etc
While not a requirement, experience with mechanical such as tractor driving would be a benefit.Languages spoken

Accommodation is in a fully appointed cabin just a short distance from the main house on the property. Food will be provided depending on the needs of our guests: for example fixings for breakfast and lunch can be made available at the cabin, and dinner with us at the main house. We are flexible in this regard.
What else ...
For the active workawayer, running and biking trails loop about the property, and endless country roads meander from the farm through the foothills. The farm is situated a 20 minute drive from the closest train station to the attractions of downtown Calgary. From downtown, regular bus travel is available to Alberta's nearby attractions, the Rocky Mountains in particular.
