My partner Jack and I stayed with Mark and Irene for just over 3 weeks during May/June 2024, which was the first month of our working holiday in Canada. This was our first workaway experience and it honestly couldn't of been any better. Mark and Irene immediately welcomed the both of us into the family and made us feel at home from the get-go.

We were never short of tasks to complete. Tasks varied from day-to-day jobs, to larger projects which required multiple days to complete. Mark was very considerate on ensuring we felt comfortable working on whatever job we were tasked with, with whatever tools were required. Some of our day-to-day tasks included digging the vegetable patch, edging around the trees, collecting and chopping fire wood/kindling, fixing fences, clearing the trails of fallen trees, chipping wood, walking the dogs, and more. Jack also has carpentry skills, so some of our bigger projects included fixing flooring, putting up shelves, building a new raised bed, and a log storing system.
Irene is an amazing cook and we all had dinner together every night which was really nice, and always included some interesting conversations and competitive games! The farm is quite remote if you don't have a vehicle, but Mark and Irene were very kind with offering us lifts to places, and to use their mountain bikes. Their dogs, Pip and Bella are also very sweet! They love lots of attention and playing tug-of-war with you. I will miss them very much!
Mark and Irene also have two kids the same age as us, Emily and Hugo. Both of them welcomed Jack and I into their lives from day 1, and we had lots of fun with them in our spare time; such as golf, meals out, drinks, and a couple of proper western bar experiences!
We have now finished our workaway experience and are living a short drive from the farm, so hopefully we will be able to all meet up again in the near-future. :-)
Overall we had a great experience, and would highly recommend this workaway to anyone contemplating it!You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

It was a pleasure for my wife, Irene and I to have Jordan and Jack spend three weeks with us in May/June. They are a delightful young couple, courteous, enthusiastic and easy to have around. They worked diligently on their assigned tasks about the farm, and were very helpful around the house and garden. We would highly recommend them to any future

I couldn't have wished for anything better for my first Workaway. Mark and Irene are awesome people, very kind and very welcoming. I was there for 1 month and I really enjoy it. They brought me at concerts (country music) and also at a horse race. So I really discovered a new culture thanks to Mark and Irene. I also meet their children with which

About the work I've done, my tasks were gardening, handiwork, grass moving and maintenance of the trail (and creation of a new one) in the back yard. I really enjoy working outside. The tasks I had to do were very clear and Mark explain me good what he was wanting for. I learn a lot of things during this month. Irene cook delicious dishes around which we had good discussions.
I can only recommend you this workaday because it's 100% sure you will appreciate it.You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

i had my first Workaway stay with Mark and Irene. I stayed 10 days. now I regret not having more time. Mark worked with me in the garden most of the time and teached me how to work with different machines or drive a tractor. I had the chance to ride their horse because i did horse riding when I was junger. I enjoyed every day. We ate dinner

We got along really well and for that time I am also really glad. Going out with them and meeting their friends was much fun. The farm was a real happy place outside the city. Now i miss the dogs every morning and all the bees flying around. But i am exited to come back to Calgary to meet up with the family again for the upcoming stampede. Thank you so much for having me, i would defenetly come back. You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.
