I really enjoyed volunteering with Willi, his project is interesting. I stayed with other people in the accommodation, and we shared good meals and good times. I really loved this place!🫶🏼🫶🏼

It's been a real pleasure hosting Max over the past 10 days or so. I found him to be an kind and respectful house guest, frequently offering his help with domestic tasks and pleasantly engaged whilst being fairly quiet. He is a conscientious guy and always accepted the task before him with enthusiasm (in this case largely filling large compost bins with material he cut, manure (barrowed) and woodchip). He also loaded and spread the chip for this and some of the fruit trees, helped Georg with some of my chicken shed, denailed wood, etc. He works steadily and isn't put off by a bit of rain or steamy hot day. Great to see him getting out to explore locally with the others staying and now off to cover a bit of the Te Araroa Trail over a few days. Will gladly have him back to stay anytime and have no hesitation in recommending him to other hosts. Many thanks Max!

I spent 5 days with Dave and Nikki. They are very nice people. They really do everything to make you comfortable. The place is very peaceful and calm. And the room so pretty and confortable. Their cat is the cuttiest, he is always looking for cuddles. I really loved working with Dave, everyday we did something new and it was interesting. I recommand 100%

Volunteering here was a truly meaningful experience for me and had a real impact on animal welfare. Seeing injured and rescued animals receive such dedicated medical care was very inspiring. This program is partikularste perfect for anyone interested in veterinary medicine or animal care, as you gain valuable hands-on experience and insight into daily treatments. It was a pleasure to take care of the doggies, and live together with some of them, getting to know all the different personalities<3 The accommodation was comfortable and nicely located, very local Neighbourhood , which I really enjoyed! Thanks for the chance of participating<3

Ruth stayed with us for a few weeks and we loved having her here! She would have been very welcome to stay longer. We are really enjoying the deck that she made, which we refer to as 'Ruth's deck'. Ruth is a very competent woodworker, who works with a lot of focus and enjoyment. Ruth is also considerate, curious, capable and an all round good person to have around. She's happy working alone but also a great team player. We thoroughly recommend her and hope she'll have the time to come back to our place one day...

Though quick and last-minute, I had a deeply enriching stay with Johnny. He is a kind, generous, down-to-earth host whose passion for the land and true craftsmanship shines through everything he does. Johnny’s undeniably sincere energy was clear from our very first call and even more apparent upon arriving at the Permaculture Farm. His dedication to sustainable, regenerative projects is encouraging, to say the least. His space is a true labor of love—from the multiple food gardens to the beautiful, skillfully built home made with reclaimed and salvaged materials. Johnny is a tiny house legend, an off-grid natural building pioneer, and the creator of many very special spaces, clearly designed with others in mind. He’s accommodating too, cooking a lovely dinner for us on the first night after giving me ample time to settle in. As a solo female traveler venturing into a remote part of the state, I felt genuinely safe & welcome. The efficiently cozy tiny house was everything my dog and I needed. The personal outdoor kitchen and tiny porch with stunning ridge-top views and surreal sunsets made for the ideal peaceful retreat after a very long drive. Above all, I truly appreciate Johnny’s desire to educate, build, uplift, share, unify, and foster community. He is an admirable embodiment of balance, stewarding the land while living a modern life in harmony with nature. I look forward to my next visit and only wish we had stayed longer! Johnny offers a rare chance to work alongside someone truly committed to their corner of the planet. If you’re ready to get your hands dirty, learn a lot, and be part of a project focused on growing something meaningful and lasting, look no further: this is the place.

Anna is wonderful, has a positive attitude and is very responsible. We have very little time at our place to give instructions and Anna takes initiative, works hard, is great with our dogs, and cooks wonderful meals. She is welcome back anytime here. She is a gem and we are lucky to have her stay with us.

What a great time I had at Sarndra's ! She's an absolute gem of an host, very arranging and kind. And you can expect delicious food all day ! Work was sometimes physical but she gives very clear instructions, and you're always rewarded with a good comforting meal afterwards. The house is often full with other workawayers which brings a very good vibe. And St Clair's surf beach is literally a 10mins walk away. I had such a good time I decided to stay longer and definitely didn't regret it !

We really enjoyed our stay with Till and Nellie; they were great, super chill people. The chores were simple and instructions were clear. Beautiful property with swimming holes and great accommodation. We also got to meet their lovely family and visit their beach house. Would definitely recommend a stay with Till and Nellie!:)

🐝 Meg spent a month with us, the farm was buzzing with life and momentum, and from the very start she felt like she belonged here. There was something quietly confident about her. She’s incredibly hardworking, clearly very experienced in the field, and always up for a challenge, the kind of person who quietly cracks on and somehow makes hard graft look easy. 🌱💪 Together with the crew we got through a huge amount in that month. We started building the animal barn, put up fencing, worked the soil and enriched it with compost, harvested ginger, and planted potatoes and spinach for the season ahead. 🥔 🫚 It was proper, hands in the dirt work, shared day after day and Meg was right here for all of it, steady, capable, and always willing. Any place she goes to next will be lucky to have her. 🍀 What made that time special, though, wasn’t just the work. Meg was with us over Christmas and the New Year 🎄✨ and those moments in the evenings, sitting together, talking nonsense, laughing, playing cards, are the ones that stay with you. She loves a bit of banter and brings people together without trying, creating that easy sense of togetherness where everyone feels at home. ❤️ 🏡 We’re deeply thankful for the time you shared with us Meg and for everything you gave. Your presence left its mark here, both in the land and in the people. We hope to see you soon. 💖 Best wishes, Lena and Bishwo 🤗

Thomas is great guy. He was always ready to help with anything we needed. He is strong and handy. Don't afraid of getting his hands dirty. Also he is very sweet and friendly, and he made a good team with another volonteers and our workers. He did a lot of heavy things. And it was very appreciated. They took apart broken building, sorted the old wood, watered plants, moved the soil, made concrete base for water tank. And much more. Thomas is great person and helping hand, if he is applying to you don't hesitate to take him.

Doug is simply awesome! Such an interesting person, with a lovely personality, and a great project. I stayed with Doug for one week and it was a truly lovely experience. From the very first day, he made me feel welcome and supported in every possible way. Doug is generous, kind, and genuinely cares about the people who stay with him. The work was fair and clearly explained, and Doug was always available, flexible, and respectful of my energy and needs. Beyond the practical help, what really made this experience special was the opportunity to share conversations, ideas, and life perspectives with him — he has a philosophical, health-oriented mindset and a lot of wisdom to offer if you’re open to listening. His place is a little paradise in the Atherton Tablelands: a spacious house surrounded by colourful, scented gardens, birds, butterflies, frogs, a lovely cat, and a big beautiful lizard! The area itself is stunning, with waterfalls, lakes, and endless nature to explore — all with a pleasant climate thanks to the elevation. I’m very grateful for this week and would absolutely recommend Doug as a host to anyone looking for a peaceful, meaningful Workaway experience in a beautiful part of Australia.

I had a really great time volunteering here, i stayed for two months. Francesca and Jacopo were incredibly kind, welcoming, and flexible, which made the whole experience feel very relaxed and easy. The kids were a lot of fun — bonus points if you love playing football or getting shot with Nerf guns ! The work itself was fairly straightforward. Since it was a bit of an off-season, I helped with a mix of farm tasks and some work indoors, which I actually enjoyed because it kept things varied. The farm is in a beautiful location. You can take the bus into town or walk, and I personally biked to a lot of nearby trailheads and went hiking on the weekends, which was amazing. Overall, I had an amazing experience and would definitely volunteer with them again. I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a welcoming place with a great atmosphere.

Wow there's so much to say about Jamie, he really was a top-notch guest, friend, and volunteer here. He's a very easy-going, respectful, hard-working, and all-around solid guy who was very generous and kind-hearted from the get-go. He came through big with some of the toughest tasks here and was a huge help with many projects in the food forest, construction, around the house, and much more. He came here with no experience but was genuinely motivated to learn and help, so he took on a wide variety of tasks from pruning cacao trees to hard-core grass and tree removal, carrying heavy logs uphill, building a little bridge, demolishing an old shed, preparing planting sites, and turning a super basic bedroom into the beginning of a pretty cool Jungle Room for future guests and volunteers. He learned how to use several new tools and got really good with the machete, and every time he used something it was always put back in it's place nicely and neatly. He was also very creative with ideas for projects and seemed to really enjoy the challenge and reward of figuring things out. He's a very down-to-earth and personable guy that everyone liked, but he also likes to be on his own quite a bit exploring, exercising, or reading, etc. He was fun playing some games with at night, and he made and shared some really nice food from dinner meals to the bananas with panela and peanut butter that nobody could stop eating. He's also been going through a very powerful awakening, so he's very in-tune and really interesting to talk with. He really became a good friend here and really seemed to genuinely care about helping with the project. He also has some big adventures planned and everything he does seems to be pretty all-in hitting things hard with a big smile on his face. There's really so much more to say but all in all we are infinitely thankful that he chose to help with this project and would definitely recommend him for anything he wants to put his energy into. Thanks a million Jamie for your awesome company, your super hard work, your overall support, and your friendship. Wishing you all the best always with everything you do, and we'll save a spot for you in the Jungle Room anytime you want to come back. Much love hermano 🙏😊

From the first moment I stayed at Yeni's, I felt at home and was treated like family. I only stayed two weeks, but during that time I managed to see the city and visit two lagoons: one with Yeni and her husband, and the second with a tour operator, which Yeni organized at a low price. I was there in January, and there were no guests, so I helped with washing the windows (there are many of them). The hotel is not in the center, but it offers stunning views of the mountains on cloudless days. The food was always delicious and plentiful; be warned, you can gain weight. I don't speak Spanish, but that was no problem; Yeni speaks English. Thank you for your hospitality! May you find your way! Buen Camino😊

Daves Fleet is quiet a unique and surreal experience. I stayed with the fleet for approximately 2 months on and of to be fair. And I had probably the best experience I could ask for. I learned a lot about general boating things and about my self I would say . Aswell how to dumpster dive and how to live in a big community in close quarters. Dave's boats are a space where a lot of wonderfully unique people gather and exchange their ideas. (all of them I keep dear to my heart now, where ever I go) and you feel in the athmosphere that you are a part of something extraordinary. I would say it is a place for dreamers and wonderes, it is also a place where you will learn to step out of your comport zone. I hope I will see Dave and his crew soon and till then fair winds to all of the people there!

Rory and Nini are exceptional humans that we were so fortunate to have crossed paths with. Amazingly helpful, thoughtful, considerate, patient, funny, trustworthy, friendly and extremely easy to host. Another situation of arrived as strangers left as family. We are hoping to catch up with them down South at some point and also expecting them back here later on in the year. They worked out when to offer to cook a family evening meal if I had too much on and just fitted in to our family environment/dynamics so, so well. They walked our two doggos regularly and were repaid with snuggles, built a garden shed (even with awful instructions), chopped a tree down and moved all the branches etc, cleared out another shed, totally reorganised the pantry and much, much more. We felt a bit lost when they left but know we will be seeing them again. It is great to be an NZ home/family for those traveling our fabulous country,
