It was truly a wonderful two weeks. Even though it was the month of Ramadan and they had many commitments, they warmly welcomed me as a member of their family. Although helping with basic household chores was part of the volunteer requirements, they kindly told me to rest whenever I was tired. We were not very used to speaking English, but we talked a lot using translation apps. Since it was Ramadan, the time we spent at night eating sweet desserts with tea and talking about each other’s cultures was especially memorable. Osman is a very tolerant and funny father who spoke to me every day and made me feel included. Figen is a super mom who manages both her job and housework, and I looked forward to the meals she cooked every day. The children were also very sweet, and they were very happy when I taught them Japanese games like origami and kendama. They even took me to the elementary school, and I really enjoyed interacting with Turkish elementary school children. Thank you so much for everything during these two weeks. If I ever have another chance to visit, I would love to see you again.

We hosted Manuela for about two months, and it was a truly wonderful experience for our family. Her Japanese is very good, which made communication very easy and comfortable for everyone. She quickly became close with our child, Miku, and they spent a lot of time playing together. Manuela always played with her enthusiastically, especially games like pretending to be cats or playing “mommy and family.” Miku absolutely loves Manuela and was always very happy to spend time with her. Manuela is very capable and learns things quickly. Whenever we asked her to help with something, she understood right away and handled it well. She was very thoughtful and often noticed when we needed help, especially during busy or difficult moments. Her support was truly helpful to our family, and we really appreciated her positive attitude and willingness to help. During her stay, Manuela was also studying very hard every day for an important exam in Italy. We admired her dedication and discipline as she balanced studying with helping our family. We sincerely hope that all her efforts will pay off, that she will pass her exam, and that she will achieve her dream job in the future. We are very happy and grateful that we had the opportunity to host Manuela. She became a wonderful part of our daily life, and we will always remember the time we spent together. We highly recommend her to other hosts and wish her all the best in her future.

She was very friendly, polite. And It was a great pleasure to host her. She kindly joined my English conversation sessions and also participated in gatherings with my friends, which I really appreciated. During her stay, she shared a lot about Germany with me and my friends, and we all really enjoyed learning about it from her! And at some events where my friends gathered, she brought her friend and even sang songs for us, and it was wonderful. The days I spent with her were truly very special, and I am very grateful for the time we shared. I am really looking forward to seeing her again someday! Hiroshi Yamazoe

What a lovely and positive experience to spend 1,5 weeks with Majken and all her animals 🫶🏼 We enjoyed our different tasks outdoor, such as feeding the horses & chicken, cleaning the stable, cutting trees at the lake and cleaning the wooden terrace. On the days Majken was at work, we did farmsitting / homesitting and took care of her two dogs & three cats as well :) Also, we could participate in a crochet & knitting project: a colourful granny square blanket 🩷🧡 Majken is super easy to be around, welcoming & kind, relaxed & flexible, open-minded towards new ideas... we just felt at home 🫶🏼 We shared the cooking, enjoyed meals over good conversations and absolutely loved her self-made bread & buns :) Dear Majken, thank you so much for this peaceful, pleasant experience at your cozy place 🫶🏼 Luisa & Paula

I stayed with Ismail for almost two weeks and helped with simple tasks like sweeping the dead leaves away, wiping tables, taking care of plants and helping prepare rooms for guests. It was a very chill atmosphere. Because of Ramadan it was even more quiet in the neighborhood (expect for the mosque — be prepared to hear the call for prayer quiet loudly everyday). The nature is beautiful. There are several beaches only 20 minutes away and nice spots for hiking. Ismail gave me a lot of tipps of things to do in the region. I also went scuba diving. I recommend having a scooter to get around. It was a little difficult to find vegetarian food, as most places focus a lot on meat (but it was doable!). I left a few days early due to external circumstances that had nothing to do with the workaway. Ismail was very understanding about this. I definitely recommend coming here. However maybe it's better to come as a couple together, not as a solo traveler, because it is sich a quiet area.

This was my very first Workaway experience, and it couldn't have been better. From the moment I arrived, Rick and Kayley made me feel incredibly welcome and fully integrated into their daily life. It was fascinating to get a first-hand look at a lifestyle where sustainability and self-sufficiency are the priorities. Rick and Kayley were so open in sharing their journey and the path they have chosen, which I found deeply inspiring. The work was varied and always engaging. I helped with everything from sowing, weeding, mulching, and planting to preparing the beds for the new garden year and helped doing some 'land clearing.' Even though my stay was short, it was very intense and enriching. It was also such a joy to spend time with Martin. He is such a sweet, open, and energetic little boy! Thank you so much again for this wonderful time, your warm hospitality, and the delicious food. I truly enjoyed the inspiring conversations and the peaceful atmosphere of your home.

Oh wow.. where should I start? Viviana and her nephew welcomed me into their home from the very beginning as if I were part of the family. After I had to leave my previous Workaway host due to unacceptable conditions and poor communication, I spontaneously asked Viviana if I could come earlier. She immediately said yes and took me in. On my first day, her nephew took me to Messina so that I can see the city. Then I was invited to lunch, where I got to meet Viviana’s lovely daughter. Afterwards, we strolled around the city a bit more. We laughed a lot, talked about everything. Viviana is an incredibly strong woman, full of life energy, and she and her family became very dear to me during the ten days I stayed with them. It wasn’t until the second day that I started my work, which involved helping in the garden and supporting with the household! I am missing them already and I’m already planning my next visit to Sicily and hope to host them in Berlin as well. So, if you’re looking for a Workaway where you truly become part of an Italian family (and improve your Italian!!) this is the place: you won’t regret it for a second. P.S. The Staffy, Aren, is an absolute angel. He loves giving kisses, is already very well-behaved for his young age, and will love cuddling with you or accompanying you to the beach, which is just a four-minute walk away. 🥹 Grazie di tutto! Mi mancherete tutti ❤️

I loved my stay at the finca. Truly beautiful and important time for me. My main tasks were some light gardening (Wolfgang explained everything we had to do because we had no prior experience), cooking, keeping the apartment clean, making marmalade, guacamole, etc. Wolfgang is a very kind, helpful, and interesting person. There were usually 3 volunteers at the same time, and from 1 to 3 guests in the hostel. We worked only until 1pm and we had all afternoons and weekends free. You can hike, go to the beach, relax. Perfect place to slow down and just admire everything you see around. Almost always sunny :) Thank you for this opportunity!

A lot of respect for Micha and Lara for sticking it out in Linton Bay Marina, sanding, grinding and painting for three weeks.  Takes some dedication and will power to push past the dirt, dust, heat, rain, physical exhaustion, mosquitos, sandflies... overall a cute and personable couple to have onboard.  Respectful, thoughtful, hard working.  Followed direction well, safety concious, took initiative.  Great attention to details.  Especially when cleaning or preparing.  Couple of great cooks too.  Wish them the best on their travels.  Im sure they can be solid hands for whatever project you might have.

It was a wonderful experience that allowed me to get to know Morocco from end to end, from the Desert to the Ocean, and it made me understand what makes this country unique, which is the people, from the youngest to the oldest. There's an atmosphere of cordiality that I've never seen anywhere else in the world. I was lucky to meet great teachers and wonderful students, not to mention the volunteers with whom I shared my days at school and during the various adrenaline-filled trips. A special thank you, besides Harim who made all this possible, goes to the teachers that I'll always carry with me: Zineb, Kawtar, Fatima, and Amina, as well as to the super volunteers I had the luck to meet, like Jorge, Niccolò, Griffin, Emma, and Cathy, and our rivals 😋🤝from the other schools, starting with Angel, Cna, Maya, Marina, and all the others who made this experience special. Beslama! Inshallah

What a very enjoyable experience, we've all laughed so much, drank a lot of wine, and all had a whole lot of fun. We had the added pleasure of spending time with Lorraine's daughter Lori, which was an added bonus. This was an unforgettable experience that will be in our memories for a lifetime. We hope you get back to the States safely, and have an exceptional life, continuing to be the most well travelled and experienced family we've probably ever met, with the best experiences to share. Hope you continue making new memories from your adventures.

I came here solo and had the most amazing experience with Christa, Nicholas, Liam and the dogs Laika and Oslo:) It felt like a home away from home. They are such genuine kind that will make you feel like their home is your home. It's a wholesome and grounding experience with having family dinners and playing boardgames into the night. I enjoyed spending alot of time with the doggos too:) The jobs are nice and hands on and vary a lot. It's a great work life balance. I will treasure this experience and remember it fondly:)

I've just spent three weeks in Assa and took part in the opening of the language center as a teaching assistant in a French class. It's been a truly enriching and inspiring experience. Assa is medium-sized city close to the desert surrounded by a chain of rocky mountains. I hardly saw any Westerners outside our group: this is an authentic Moroccan experience. Locals were welcoming and very benevolent towards us. The house -quite a thing in itself- is conveniently located very close to the school with great views over the surrounding landscape (mosque and mountains). The school has just been renovated and boasts state-of-the-art facilities (modern electronic boards with access to Internet). I was lucky to meet and connect with really nice and genuine people (other volunteers) from all over the world. I felt truly integrated within the group in a way I had not felt for a long time in a group of people. The teachers too were very warm and open and a pleasure to work with. Special thanks to Ouma and her family who invited us for Iftar and Fatma with whom I had great pleasure in working so smoothly. A big shout out to Lahcen, the actual host, who worked really hard to make the experience worthwhile for us volunteers (while of course being involved in launching the whole project). It really paid off: the opening of the school was a real success and I am glad to have been part of it and brought my modest contribution to it. Thanks for the regular outings in the desert camp located outside Assa in a breathtaking lunar reddish landscape . Those times under the tent were really special (facilitated by great hosts Abdou and Selim). There are also really nice walks to do just outside the city where the old city can be found located on a steep hill with breathtaking views over the whole city, its many mosques and the oued at the bottom (the Draa) and its lush green gardens and palm trees. I took many photos. Last but not least, let's not forget the kids who were our primary reason for being there. Mine ranged from eight to fourteen years old and they were all so endearing, each in their own way. A lot of them were very engaged and enthusiastic, some a bit more withdrawn and less confident but being in contact with all of them was such a fulfilling experience! I was only able to take part for three weeks , -I have an office job-, and this is by far the best holiday experience I have had in a very long time (and my best workaway experience overall). I would gladly have stayed on longer if possible and I look forward to being back there as soon as possible. I warmly and heartily recommend Lahcen and his project to anybody thinking about joining it.

I stayed at the camp for about 10 days and had a wonderful experience. The entire team was welcoming, kind, and supportive throughout my stay. My main responsibilities included welcoming guests, answering their questions, and helping ensure they felt comfortable during their visit. I also contributed by taking photos of the camp and the surrounding desert, as well as assisting with online advertising and social media content creation. In addition to the work, there was plenty of free time to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and the beautiful desert landscape. I had my own tent with a private bathroom and was even able to join guests on their jeep trips through the desert, which was a great experience. If my flight hadn’t already been booked, I would have happily extended my stay. I can highly recommend volunteering at this camp also for solo female travelers.

We are so grateful for everything you did for our community—especially for teaching English and helping us out with so many other things. Your energy and kindness meant a lot to all of us. For us, it wasn’t just about volunteering; it felt like having a family visiting. We’re so glad the nature and our culture gave you that "rejuvenating" feeling you mentioned. You’re part of the family now, and you’re always welcome back here anytime. Take care,!
