Baptiste is the kind of volunteer every host hopes for — calm, respectful, and genuinely helpful. He may be quiet, but he works with intention and focus. He was consistently productive and always ready to take on whatever task we needed done, without hesitation. He integrated smoothly into our rhythm here and required very little oversight. We’re grateful for his contribution and would absolutely recommend him to other hosts and welcome him back.

Had a great experience volunteering with Shaun. Regarding his word, he is extremely dedicated and passionate artist and worker. In terms of interpersonal relations, he is very considerate, polite, welcoming and helpful. He was a pleasure to volunteer for, sharing his knowledge and life experience. Whenever he has time, it is good to spend it together to get to know him more as a person and an artist, don’t miss this opportunity. All the pets are great and have different personalities, so there will easily be a favourite for each time of person. One of the nicest volunteering experiences with lots of free time, good nature, healthy food and wonderful company.

Cancelled the project day before I arrived, fully aware I already had tickets.

I had an incredible week! I learned so many new things and gained truly valuable experience. I worked around 5 hours per day, 5 days a week, which gave me plenty of time to explore the surroundings and enjoy activities in the area. It was a perfect balance between work and free time. I worked at the reception, handling check-ins, accommodation bookings, activity reservations, and answering guests’ questions. I also prepared breakfast with my amazing teammate Lisbeth in a warm and friendly atmosphere. We cleaned and prepared the rooms together as well, always in a good mood. I got along very well with the other volunteers, the atmosphere was great and very supportive. Whenever we had questions, there was always someone ready to help. The week went by so fast, too fast! The manager, Elvia, was attentive, understanding, and flexible with our schedules. I truly recommend this experience. It was both enriching and enjoyable.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful and honest feedback. First of all, I truly appreciate the amazing support you gave us despite the many challenges. Your patience, flexibility, and positive attitude meant a lot to us and to our students. Yes, sometimes the workload appears less structured, especially when we have more than five volunteers at the same time. This is partly beyond my control, as I try to give opportunities to many volunteers. However, occasionally some volunteers change their plans after arriving in Sri Lanka, which makes scheduling more complicated. Another important factor is that many homestay families strongly hope to host volunteer teachers, as our students are spread across three centers while we currently have only three staff members. Without a dedicated manager, all of us are deeply involved in teaching, which sometimes makes coordination challenging. However, we are actively thinking about starting fundraising initiatives soon so that we can appoint an office manager to better organize classes and volunteer coordination in the future. Despite these challenges, I am very happy that you connected so warmly with the families and students and that you enjoyed creating the drama project — that made a real impact. Your flexibility and “go with the flow” attitude truly reflect the spirit needed in our environment. You will always be warmly welcome back. Thank you again for your kindness and support. I stayed at Tuve's place for three weeks and really enjoyed living so close to nature. The workload was reasonable, and I could take breaks whenever I needed to. I felt comfortable and respected throughout my stay. The food was delicious! We shared recipes, and I went home feeling inspired, especially when it came to baking fresh sourdough bread and buns. Tuve also showed me how to make a basket, which was a really nice, unique experience. Another highlight was going on a little 'safari' to explore the wildlife. Overall, I had a great time and I'm very grateful for the experience:)

Hailing from Scotland, Rosie was one of the last cohort of volunteers to arrive late in 2025. Rosie has a lot of energy, is extremely helpful, always with a ready smile. She is very social and had a lot of laughs with us and the other volunteers, despite the somewhat dreary weather (well.... it must have reminded her a bit of Scotland!). It was a time for preparing things for winter, getting some late season veg out to market and even helping out at the Xmas market in the nearest village! Rosie did a fabulous job setting up the table and beautifully arranging the jams and the Xmas baskets. And of course, she was a great partner to cheer with me and some Xmas hot wine, or cider, or whatever we could get our hands on..... We would love to see Rosie back with us, so that she can see how things develop on our farm, greet the cats again, and taste the jams. Come back to experience this amazing nature in a different season! Big hugs and lots of smiles!!!!!

Younas is a valuable person, with a huge heart, a wonderful vision, and great plans. I am happy to be his first volunteer! I felt at home from the first day, and his helpers treated me like family. The project that Younas started is brilliant, yet simple. I wish him a lot of success An sha' allah

erika is very! trustworthy and super brave! she has pure intentions and is really intelligent. her way of being highlights this rare capacity to make life good out of any given moment. she anticipates beyond fast and finds solutions where my mind never went. her dog is adorable and the two are besties in a serving way. i am grateful to have met erika and shanna as protectors of my dear home. i hope to cross path again. good luck!

The dynamic duo! Chad and Liam stopped by for less than a week on their way home, they were in a word Awesome! We got more done in 4 days than in the previous 4 weeks! Super skilled, loads of experience, excellent company and great banter! Welcome back anytime!!!

I spent an unforgettable month at the sanctuary and I couldn’t have dreamed of a better first experience. Aimée has an incredible gift for welcoming people and making you feel at home immediately. In just a few weeks, I learned so much: from the daily care of the animals (goats, sheep, pigs) to the more unusual handling of geese, ducks, and even turkeys! Aimée's strength and devotion to her animals are a true source of inspiration. Beyond the farm work, it is an exceptional human adventure. I’m leaving with a head full of memories, endless laughter, and great evenings spent playing board games. If you are looking for a place where love for animals and conviviality reign, this is it. I had the chance to work with Tara for a week and it was a really nice experience, for sure I learned a lot about reusing and recycling. The work was fullfilling and fun, Tara and Jim are wonderful people, thank you so much for everything. Tara, keep it up with all the work that you are doing for the town!! it is a great job!!

Mateusz was a good volunteer and a nice person to have at the cafe. During his time with us, he was responsible and cooperative, and he supported the classes in a positive way. He helped create a relaxed environment where students felt comfortable practising their English and joining conversations. He managed group activities well and communicated clearly with both the students and the team. He was open to learning, adaptable, and respectful in his role. While working with different groups, he remained patient and friendly, which the students appreciated. Outside of the classes, he was easygoing and got along well with everyone at the cafe, including the team and other volunteers. Overall, we had a good experience hosting him and we appreciate the time and effort he shared with us. We wish him success in his future plans.Thank you so much for everything

Indy was truly great to have with us, and we were very happy with him throughout his time at the cafe. From the very beginning, he brought a positive attitude, kindness, and a genuine willingness to help. He was responsible, respectful, and easy to communicate with, which made everything run smoothly. He connected very naturally with our Turkish students, creating a comfortable and encouraging atmosphere for them to practice English. They really enjoyed speaking with him, and his patience and friendly personality made a big difference. Beyond helping at the cafe, he also became a lovely part of our small community. It was always nice to have him around, and both the team and the students appreciated his presence. We wished he had stayed longer. My stay was amazing ! Jenn, Cory and the whole family are very welcoming and passionnate about their project, they made me feel like home. The tasks were diverses and the missions well explained, the schedule is flexible as long as you're completing the missions, and once again Jenn and Cory are very open for suggestions or further explanations. This volunteering will fit you if you're looking for some manual work in a quiet little paradise, and if you don't mind working on your own. I would recommand 100% this place and i feel very Lucky that i've had my 1st volunteering experience there, thanks again for everything !
