Niamh was a great volunteer who takes initiative well and gave her all to the daily running of the place. She arrived at a particularly quiet time for volunteers, but immediately took on the responsibilities for the maintenance of cleaning, watering plants and interacting with guests, sometimes singlehandedly. She worked hard, mixing concrete and acting as a sherpa, carrying up many heavy loads through the jungle without complaint, including two heavy gas tanks. She got on well with a variety of different characters of volunteers, and helped guide those that came after her. She was social and good at interacting with guests. Her company and cooking were appreciated during family dinners, and she was easygoing and resilient to the challenges of jungle life. I would recommend Niamh for any off-grid or physically demanding projects, as she is a strong and determined woman who genuinely cares about her work. She will be missed here. One of our higher level type of volunteers out of our 650+ volunteers.

Pasé un tiempo maravilloso en la granja de Christian. Me recibió y me mostró su maravillosa propiedad. Una cabaña muy rústica me alojó en un entorno idílico de absoluta tranquilidad. Una familia chilena amable, acogedora y servicial... su confianza es una bendición.

Samantha visited me and my project for amazing three weeks. She was an easy going woman who did everything together with us in the family.She was so kind and friendly to everyone. She brought a lot of stationery, reading and writing books,and different kinds of both indoors and outdoors games to the school. Almost every student got something special from her. She taught English and other subjects except Twi. Her teaching was amazing especially English and science. She ate many Ghanaian foods with great excitement. She attended church with us every Sunday and sowed a new traditional Kente cloth for our cultural day. She also sowed a funeral cloth and attended two funerals Samantha sponsored a trip to Kintampo waterfalls which was very historical to the school. I highly recommend her to everyone.

Yu and Mu are very hardworking, they helped with gardening, cooking, cleaning and taking care of the dogs, specially with our last foster, snoopy. They LOVE dogs, so this was a great experience! :) And we also got to enjoy having deep-talks with them. Would recommend :) Los chiquillos ayudaron mucho en temas de perritos, especialmente con nuestro último hogar temporal, snoopy. Definitivamente aman a los perros ajajajjaja. También cocinaron y ayudaron con limpieza y jardinería. Pude aprender mucho sobre su cultura, y tuvimos conversaciones muy interesantes y profundas. Fue un agrado tenerlos acá!

Tener a song en casa fue increíble 🥹🫶 Ayudó con distintas tareas de casa (cocina, limpieza, cuidar de los perros y jardinería) y también ayudó haciendo voluntariado en nuestra organización de rescate animal, Kiwi Ayuda. Si hay algo que no sepa, siempre está dispuesta a aprender! Creo que salió de aquí con mucha experiencia respecto a perros ajajajaj. Más allá de lo que es trabajo, convivimos más de 2 meses juntas, y siempre fue un agrado estar con ella 🥺 De verdad me da mucha pena que se haya ido 😭 Nos convertimos en amigas muy rápidamente, y ahora la siento como una hermana 🥹 Definitivamente mantendré el contacto con ella! Y la recomiendo al 1000% Fue una experiencia muy especial, gracias por alegrar mi día a día, song 🥹❤️

Alexis is hands on and knows how to weild those tools.!I was quite happy leaving him to any sort of handy man job with confidence .He's an interesting chap with good clear views on world affairs and is a pleasure to converse with.We worked hard together sweated in a demanding and difficult climate and he's a s tough as nails and doesn't complain.Highly recommend Al (as we affectionately called him).

Roman is a very creative and hardworking man. He was always willing to help and as a volunteer he never complained about the tasks assigned to him. He helped remove paint, move some things around, and even built a bench to enjoy the view from the garden (his own idea and suggestion). He really enjoyed being at the house, as this place provides him with a lot of inspiration, and he was able to make significant progress on his travel writing, which he is documenting. Thank you so much, Roman, for all your help. I hope your trip goes very well and that you can publish this book. I hope you can visit us again. Best of luck with everything!

We loved Eva and Arnaud so much after 2 weeks we begged them to stay on. They then spent another 1 month with us These 2 are in my top favorite volunteers I have had over the past 7 years.Hardworking ,fun,polite,a pleasure to be around and always ready to help more than they should!We loved Arnauds Risotto and Eva's fancy refreshing drinks.They will also have a place to stay with us anytime in the future.Whatever future workaway host gets these two will be very lucky...

Mint!! I loved my time spent in Nakhon Sawan. I was there about a month and still had so much to learn. Mint blew my mind, managing all she does on the daily, but also that she is so patient and clear explaining why things are the way they are. I could've easily left Thailand with a very shallow understanding of Thai culture. I had so much fun with the kids- they are hilarious and Mint will never forget to prepare you for whatever you need. I loved that I was able to take some ownership over what I was teaching as well. I traveled with other workawayers to caves and temples and, at the end, a nearby Vipassana retreat! The food at the free restaurants is delicious as well as the food all over the city. I was in each of the rooms at some point or another and found them all to be comfortable and clean. Mint and her mom take good care of the old school space. I miss it! Sending lots of love to you and Nan, Mint.

Mirko was a great host! I really enjoyed my two weeks in Pichilemu which is a beautiful coast town. I am grateful I could meet his family and friends which are amazing people, Mirko took good care of us volunteers, bought more than enough food and also showed me and us a lot of the area, even though he was in stress with his work and other things. He shared the house like it was also our home the time we stayed. The work was mostly to take care of the garden and house when he worked during the week, so there was no sheldue wich allowed me to go surfing, watch sunsets and explore Pichilemu whenever I wanted. I also could help to create some concepts for the terrace and was asked for my creative opinion for the planning of the property. Thank you a lot for the great time and I wish you all the best for you and your family!

We had an absolutely wonderful experience staying at Villa Aimée as Workawayers. From the very first moment, Leila and Christoph made us feel truly welcome and at home. The tasks were very simple and always clearly explained. They were very considerate and always made sure we felt comfortable and never overwhelmed. If it were up to us, we would stay living there! Villa Aimée is a beautiful and unique place, full of charm and surrounded by nature in the lovely village of Vals-les-Bains. The atmosphere is peaceful and special, making it a perfect place to disconnect and enjoy the beauty of the region. A very special mention goes to Leila. She was like a mother to us during our stay. She always made sure we had everything we needed and went out of her way to make us feel part of the home. She also took the time to introduce us to French culture and delicious French food, which made the experience even richer. She was always flexible with schedules and very understanding. We will truly miss Villa Aimée, the peaceful environment, and especially Rexy and Snowy, who became part of our daily life. And of course, we will miss Leila very much. This experience meant a lot to us, and we are deeply grateful. We highly recommend staying here — it’s not only a beautiful place, but also a home filled with warmth and kindness.

I had a great experience staying at Roger&Brendas peaceful orchard. Both of them are incredibly kind, welcoming, generous and from the moment I arrived I felt very comfortable. The work was absolutely fair and clearly explained and the atmosphere among our group of Workawayers felt like working with family and friends. I would definitely recommend Roger&Brendas Hideaway to anyone who enjoys nature, a calm environment, warm and caring hosts.

Deana has been the most brilliant workawayer for our family the past 5-6 weeks. She is an amazing cook above all; healthy meals and creative recipes. From sourdough bread to taco's and Thai soups; she can do it all. Hard working and great work ethos. The house was reorganised and tidy as never before. Thinking ahead and quick in finding her way with all family members. We all wished she could have stayed longer and wish her a great onwards travels and hope she finds a new adventure. I was at Erik and Emma’s place over the holiday period and they really made me feel part of the family. They were always incredibly kind to me and very helpful; I worked in their garden, contributed to some house projects, took care of the chickens and got to help out with and learn about beekeeping as well! Their little one, Heidi, is extremely sweet and great to play with. I truly couldn’t have asked for a better stay, thank you so much! 🫶🏼

Valdemar has been an absolute standout—easily one of the most remarkable Workawayers to join us this year. ​He possesses a rare blend of youthful energy and an unwavering sense of duty; the concepts of "tired" or "exhausted" simply aren't in his vocabulary. Whether he was navigating the high-spirited chaos of a primary school classroom or thoughtfully engaging a group of inquisitive high schoolers, Valdemar rose to every challenge with a genuine smile. His presence brought so much joy and satisfaction to the students, the parents, and me alike. ​Valdemar, you’ve left such a lasting impression here—we truly hope to see you back with us next year!

This was my first Workaway experience and I spent 5 weeks with Amanda and Richard. It was the perfect start to my adventure in New Zealand. They are incredibly welcoming, patient and kind. From the very beginning, I felt like part of the family. I learned a lot during my stay, from gardening to using tools, to collaborating on a creative art project for the garden. We also shared good meals and interesting conversations. The animals are adorable too, and I already miss Oscar's cuddles! But most of all, Amanda and Richard went out of their way to help me repair my van. They really saved my trip, and I can't thank them enough for their generosity and support. If you're looking for a place where you can learn new skills and feel at home, I highly recommend staying with them. Thank you again for everything! 🚐

I had a great time with Kathi and Gerald! They are such kind people, and I really enjoyed learning about the farm and helping with daily tasks. They are so knowledgable and patient and instantly made me feel comfortable. They were so accommodating in driving me to the train station for a weekend trip, and letting me come earlier when my travel plans. This was an amazing experience and I'm so happy I was able to come and stay!
