    Description

My name is Cristian Ortega, my family lives in the Aysén region since the Colonization of Chilean Patagonia. Today, my wife and daughters live on a 120-hectare farm 30 minutes from #Coyhaique, where we work to raise sheep, poultry, pigs, cows, and our horse. We have to sow, harvest and feed the sheep/cows in winter, since there is a lot of snow here that leaves no grass for our animals, we must feed them ourselves in bales. We work cutting trees from the forest to make and repair fences. We are occasionally visited by tourists and friends to see our poultry, farm animals, learn how to milk cows and eat Lamb Roasts, which I prepare myself on an outdoor campfire.
Since we have lived in the country (almost 6 years), we have been very happy to enjoy the fruits of our labor, such as: seeing the sheep, cows and piglets being born, enjoying eating healthy eggs and activities together tourists.
There is work to do every day, I would like some help from time to time, while I like to share stories of life in Patagonia with our volunteers.

There are very few of us fortunate to have been born in Patagonia, to know it and live here, life here is expensive and tourists spend a lot of money to know only part of it. I offer my farm, my experience and stories so that travelers can learn first-hand what a Farmer is in Patagonia, at no cost to them.
