Description
Hello! My name is Valdemar, I am 21 years old and from Sweden. Travel has always been a big passion of mine, and I love the cultural exchange between people, meeting someone from a different country and learning more about their culture and showing some of mine. My joy of traveling has taken me around the world, for example on an exchange year in the U.S, where I lived with an american family and made connections that I will carry for a long time. The reason that I want to do workaway is more recent; I am currently in Chennai, India and have recently started volunteering at a school for underprivileged children. From the first day of meeting the students and teachers and getting treated with so much hospitality and warmness, I realized that this is something I wanted to do more of. I graduated high school last year, have since worked in healthcare and hospice and now plan to be traveling around India, Nepal and Sri Lanka before I pursue my university studies in Sweden next fall, possibly in medicine. This part of the world intrigues me due to the sense of adventure, warm people and excellent food. Hopefully I will learn more about these cultures, which I am very interested in, during my stay here and I can help people along the way. Hope to hear more from you!

More details about your skills
Through my work experiences, I have mostly worked with people, and this is where I have most of my interest. It has been mostly in healthcare and hospice, and it has included care for a big variation of people, such as elderly, children and disabled. This is what I'm drawn most towards, and would love to help out in for example education. I'm open to a lot of different tasks however, and am a fast learner and willing worker. I am also able to paint, help out with construction, cook at a basic level and possess a good knowledge of the English language, having lived in an English speaking country for a full year.

What else ...
I have an avid interest in music, having played in bands for many years. I am able to play bass, guitar and a little drums, something that I would enjoy sharing with others. I also play a lot of chess and am actively trying to learn more about the game. Sports, exercise and the outdoors have always been an important part of my life, with a background in track and field. I now enjoy hiking, skiing, camping and working out in the gym. I also enjoy water sports such as swimming and surfing and follow football and basketball, both of which I've practiced in the past. Recently, I have started getting into food and cooking, something I would love to explore more.
