Helping out Johanna & Ritschi was a great and special experience! You were super welcoming and we felt comfortable right away (especially Benny enjoyed his overfload on cuddles). I am thankful for all the things I learned at yours, like baking bread, fermenting things or different gardening skills. And not to forget, the fishing! :D I loved the nights out fishing on the fjord, one of my best memories! All in all we had a really good time - and food- at yours and would love to come and visit you sometime again! Thank you very much!! Benny & Lewis

Sebastiaan stayed with me for a week and was an amazing help. He has experience in many different fields, including carpentry, farming, and restoring and painting walls—and he also has some hidden talents that reveal themselves along the way :) He was very proactive and even took the initiative to reorganize my tools, which was incredibly helpful. But beyond being skilled, easygoing, and caring toward others, what really stands out is that Sebastiaan is a genuinely happy person who brings joy and lots of good laughs wherever he goes. He’s inspiring, positive, and simply a wonderful person to have around. I would happily recommend him to any host.

Martyna and Joanna were an absolute joy to have! From the very beginning, I felt a beautiful connection with them. They are easygoing, respectful of the house and its surroundings, and genuinely eager to help. I even had to remind them to stop working on time and go out to explore the area, whether the beaches or the mountains. They helped with gardening and renovating wooden windows, always with great care and commitment. Martyna’s dog, Biszkopt (which means “Biscuit” in Polish), is also adorable and very easy to have around. We shared meals, meaningful conversations—including cultural anecdotes—and lots of good laughs. I truly enjoyed having them here and would warmly recommend them to any host.

Giacomo, you spent 2 month here with us in the Ratsmühle. It was excellent! You have done the tasks very professionally. Above all, I liked that you understood very quickly what to do. You walk around the world with open eyes and see where to do something. You are very polite and can adapt to the most difficult situations. You really could have stayed longer ... and you can come back anytime.

I'm Sovannarith. I would like to thank Yentl and Fleur for your kindness and helped me with the school and everything even I was very busy. Even now, I'm still busy but I still keep the school open for every kids for free. However, I'm very, very busy with helping others refugees and transported food for them and soldiers at frontlines days and nights, I still have enough energy to do all the things. Moreover, I am still asking for more volunteers to join me and can help me all the needs. Please don't hesitate to contact me. Finally, million thanks to Yentl and Fleur for doing their best to do all the things for us - school and students. I would like to say sorry for not being at home or something that made you two unhappy. You are my best volunteers. Hope to have you next time. I do recommend Yentl and Fleur for others. Love you with biggest hugs!

It was a real pleasure having Kilian stay at the farm over Christmas and New Year’s. He fit in wonderfully and was a joy to have around the house and the barn. Always positive and eager to help, he learned the routines quickly and handled the work with confidence—even with limited prior horse experience. We enjoyed sharing meals, outings, and holiday celebrations with him, and it was great to see him connect with other Workaways and locals and make the most of his time in the area. His willingness to learn, including trying riding for the first time, made his stay especially rewarding for everyone involved. He miss him around here —people and animals alike, including the horses, dogs, and Tyrone the barn cat. We wish him all the best in his future travels and would gladly welcome him back anytime.

Our Workaway experience with Mary and Tim was truly special. They were hugely kind and welcoming, opening their home to us and making us feel part of the family from the start. The food was incredible — wholesome, homemade, and made with so much care. Our work included planting trees, digging blackberry patches and sorting old fencing, all contributing to rewilding the land and helping to protect the forests on the old farm property. They were always extremely grateful for everything we did, no matter how big or small, which made the work even more rewarding. Our evenings were free to spend however we wished, although we ended up getting beaten at cards almost every night. Mary and Tim also gave us fantastic recommendations for exploring the local area and beyond.

my time with Jenny and Vic was so lovely! the work was very manageable (sanding furniture, a bit of yard work and helping Jenny with her awesome singing workshops!) they were super flexible with my schedule and encouraged me to explore the area and gave great tips of places to go. if I'm ever back in the area I would absolutely go see them again and I hope to see Jenny in Alaska one day soon!! they also have the most adorable fetch obsessed dog, Miss you all already!

Christine's stay with us was great, she was really engaged with local members and staff and brought many of her own questions and experiences to discussion. We appreciate being able to share what we do while also learning and seeing new perspectives, reflections, or feedback from those visiting from elsehwere. Christine took up the offer of coming her to learn though and spent as much time exploring Taipei as she did learning what Buddhism is here in the context of our community and helping out with the day to day living at the office.

Sarah is a very helpful, humorous, communicative, and open mind person. She helped me inside the house and around it with shoveling snow. She has many interests, and we had some great conversations. We did mobility exercises together, cooked, cleaned, and had a lot of fun playing games. Sarah's visit was a real enrichment.

I don't even know how I can describe this experience with them! Howard and his family such nice people... Malakka's vibes is so chill. Hostel was good located, everything went so smoothly as I arrived. And we became family from day two with other volunteers ! Howard really knows what he is doing, never pushs someone to do anything. Everything works in the end which it is the ideal way in my opinion. It was the best experience so far and I will definitely go back there to stay, or work, or visit! I have already missed the people and the place. I know we see each other again or meet along the way with the fam! Thank you for everything guys! SJ x

I am so grateful for my time with Gerlinde and her granddaughter Marlene!! I was there for just over a week, and wish I could have stayed longer; they were both incredibly kind and welcoming, and I learned so much... about land care, earth homes, tree-mulching, more... Work hours were mostly spent helping around the garden, weeding, pulling invasives, mulching trees. Gerlinde taught me a lot about native plants, and also about predator control initiatives. I feel like I’ve now got a good sense of Honeymoon Valley/native northland bush. There was ample fresh food from the garden and fruit trees. Gerlinde cooked delicious dinners and Marlene made some fabulous cakes. There is no wifi but you don’t need it - there is so much to see close by! I swam in the gorgeous river several times, visited the Bush Fairy Dairy, went on several beautiful bush walks, and joined a trip to town/Taipa Beach. There are also books; I borrowed and read two from Gerlinde’s collection. Her earth home is beautiful (with an *awesome* photo album of how it was constructed), and I also spent many hours spending relaxed time in the space. I wholeheartedly recommend a stay to anyone. I will remember my time here always. Nga mihi, Gerlinde!!!

I couldn’t have asked for a better way to kick off my NZ adventure. Every single family member is super nice and accommodating. They have a lovely property with a nice little beach just around the corner. The city is accessible via bus in under an hour. Donna cooks delicious food and is always down for a good conversation. Paul helped me buy a car, and the daughters are incredibly kind as well. The 5/5 stars aren’t enough to describe what a gem this place is. 100% recommend, and I hope I see them again at some point 😊

Roksana is a nice, kind and elegant lady. Her house is both clean and beautiful. I helped her with household chores and grocery shopping, and the tasks were simple and easy to manage. She is very knowledgeable, easy to talk to, and has so many life experiences to share. I loved to listen to her stories, which were so touching and inspiring. We had great conversations, and she also invited me to her tango dance studio, it was such a special experience and I had so much fun. Although food wasn’t included, she kindly shared meals with me from time to time. (she's a wonderful cook tho) Thank you, Roksana, for everything you've done for me, I truly appreciate it. Take care, JingJing

I truly enjoyed my time at Diane’s place. She was like a real mother to me always caring for me in the smallest details and patiently teaching me. We shared many cultural conversations about different ways of understanding love, which I really cherished. I loved our movie nights together, and I also really enjoyed going to play tennis and walking around the mall with Ethan. I feel incredibly lucky that my very first Workaway turned out to be such a wonderful experience.

Dear Shiho, thank you very much that I could do my first Workaway at your place. My main task was shoveling snow but because of the unusually low snowfall, I was also happy to help with small household chores such as New Year Cleaning, taking garbage out or cleaning the Airbnb. More than the work itself, I really enjoyed the cultural exchange and the conversations we had, mostly in Japanese, where I could practice the language. Shiho is a very easy going person to spend time with and I learned a lot from her about cooking (she is a great cook ;)), her travel experiences and "social work" in a snowy environment. She also puts great importance on having enough free time to explore Sapporo and its snow-covered surroundings. Also the food is great in the city! Living together was characterized by mutual respect, honesty and calm communication. I am truly grateful that I could experience my first Workaway in such a relaxed environment with such a wonderful host. Maurice

I spent a wonderful winter in West Vancouver. The house was beautiful, and Ant would sometimes cook delicious traditional dishes for us—we had shepherd’s pie and a classic Christmas dinner. I also celebrated another Workawayer Dylan’s birthday together. Sophie cared about me so much she was always eager to message and check in on how my life in Vancouver was going. Disco is the best dog in the world—he’s a true gentleman, polite, and always looks at your food with those big, watery eyes. He’s the perfect adventure companion. Over the past month or so, we went hiking and to the beach together, sharing all kinds of adventures around Vancouver. I will miss them all so much.

Ruby, Tom, and the kids were so fun to stay with and help out!! We felt very comfortable and found it really easy to connect with the family. The work was varied and very reasonable. Mullum was also a really fun place to be based out of for a couple weeks. Very grateful we had the chance to stay and meet some special people!!

Madeline and Elisa were my first workaways, and they were amazing! They are proactive and thorough workers, and generally very helpful. They are also very polite and fun to be around. They stayed a few days with my Uncle and his partner as well, and they also enjoyed hosting them. They are still learning English, but they made a lot of effort to speak with me and improve while they were staying. I loved hosting Madeline and Elisa and would welcome them back anytime!
