    Description

We live in a private home in France and enjoy a quiet, relaxed lifestyle. We are interested in cultural and language exchange and enjoy sharing meals and conversation. We are happy to help improve English and would like to practise our French in return.

I am the main carer for my wife, who is living with dementia, and I take full responsibility for her care and daily needs. Because of this, I would really appreciate some general help with light painting and basic gardening around our home (painting walls, preparation, tidying the garden). The help is simple and practical, and we work together at a relaxed pace.

There is no expectation of personal care or support of any kind. We are looking for around 4–5 hours of help per day, 5 days a week, leaving plenty of time for rest, language exchange, and enjoying local life.

We offer a large double bedroom with a private en-suite bathroom. Bed linen and towels are provided. The room is comfortable, quiet, and suitable for a single person or a couple. Wi-Fi is available.

All meals are provided. We usually eat together and enjoy simple, home-cooked food. Volunteers are welcome to help themselves during the day. Dietary requirements can be discussed in advance. We are not able to cater for a vegan diet; vegans would need to provide their own food.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We live a quiet, calm lifestyle and value a respectful, relaxed atmosphere at home. I am the main carer for my wife and manage her daily needs myself, so we appreciate a peaceful household. There is no expectation of personal care or support.

Our home is located around a 5–10 minute walk from a village. We are set beside a small river, which is suitable for kayaking or paddle boarding, and we also have an unheated swimming pool. In free time, there are opportunities for walking, swimming in season, enjoying the local countryside, reading, or independent activities.

Having your own transport can be helpful, but we are happy to discuss local options in advance. We are flexible and open to discussion so that expectations are clear and comfortable for everyone.
