Description
Welcome to our home in Lynn Valley! 🌲
Hi there! I’m Diane, a single mom living in a beautiful townhouse here in North Vancouver with my 14-year-old son, Ethan. We are an active, creative, and busy household.
I spend my time in courses, dancing💃 and I am also a dedicated practitioner of Energy Medicine and a student of Reflexology—so you’ll often find me practicing or studying at home.
Ethan is a fantastic, energetic 14-year-old. From June through September, his life revolves around tennis, soccer, basketball, swimming, and biking. He loves a good game night, and we’re always up for a match of table tennis in the dining room!
A Bit About Our Vibe:
We are both ADHD households, which means we thrive when we use tools, reminders, and "scaffolding" to keep our days on track. We are looking for an adult who is comfortable in an ADHD-friendly environment and doesn’t mind being a supportive presence who helps keep the momentum going. We are also deeply passionate about the environment and take our recycling very seriously—it’s extra work, but it’s our way of doing our part for the planet!
Important Health Note: I have asthma, so our home must be a fragrance-free zone. Please do not wear colognes, perfumes, or scented products, and refrain from using them inside the house.
What We’re Looking For:
We are seeking an independent, confident, and responsible adult to join us for a two-week stay.
Age/Experience: We are looking for volunteers 19+. If you are under 25, we require at least one year of independent living experience (managing your own cooking/cleaning). Ideally, we look for those 25+.
Independence: You’ll have your own private space (Ethan’s room), and we expect you to be self-sufficient, cleaning up after yourself in shared spaces immediately after use.
Meals: You are welcome to the food in the house. If you have specific preferences, there are grocery stores just a 7-minute walk away!
Communication: I am very direct, clear, and vocal, and I value the same in return. Consistent communication via text (a WhatsApp group between us) or conversation is how we keep things running smoothly.
A Typical Day
Weekdays: You have most of your days to yourself while Ethan is at school (during school Months). I sometimes work from home and see clients, so we will coordinate to ensure you and Ethan have fun plans outside the house during those times.
Evenings & Weekends: I may also be working with clients and This is usually when we’d love for you to hang out with Ethan—playing sports, touring Vancouver, or just hanging out. Light, shared housework is part of the flow.
Safety & Check-ins: Ethan is responsible with his EpiPen, but he sometimes needs a friendly reminder to grab it before heading out.
When you are out with him, please let me know when you leave and return. If you’re out on your own, a quick text to let me know you're headed back is perfect. (Late nights should be the exception and discussed in advance!)
Tell Us About You!
When you reach out, please include:
1. Self-Care: How do you take care of yourself, your home, and your meals?
2. Routine: Are you an early riser or a night owl?
3. English Proficiency: On a scale of 1–10, how comfortable are you with spoken and written English? (We find 7+ works best for our flow!)
4. Vancouver Plans: What are you most excited to see or visit while in BC?
5. Questions for Us: What would you like to know about living with us?
We’re so excited to meet you and share our corner of the world. If for any reason things don't feel like a perfect fit, you are always welcome to make alternate arrangements—transparency is key for us.

Help
How We Help Each Other
We view this as a team effort! Your help keeps our home running smoothly so we can focus on our goals and adventures.
What’s Involved:
Light Housework: We share the daily tasks, including recycling, composting, doing dishes, laundry, and maintaining our floors (mopping, sweeping, and vacuuming).
Groceries: You are welcome to the food in the house, but we may occasionally ask for help with grocery shopping if you are headed out.
Laundry Logistics: Our laundry facilities are conveniently located in a separate building just a 1-minute walk away. Each load (wash and dry) costs $3.00, payable in coins (one "loonie" and three quarters).
Your Time Off: We like to be flexible! We can plan to spend two days together exploring or traveling, and we are happy to create a schedule together that works for everyone.
Our Daily Rhythm:
Morning & Night: We generally get up around 8:00 AM and like to wind down and head to sleep between 8:00 PM and 9:00 PM to keep our home routine fluid and consistent.
Communication & Presence: We are looking for someone who is truly interactive and considerate. Whether we are hanging out or you are supervising Ethan, we value someone who is attentive to details, respectful of boundaries, and happy to engage in open, honest dialogue.
A Healthy Home: We are a drug-free home and appreciate volunteers who are fully self-sufficient and comfortable taking the lead on their own self-care and tasks. -

What else ...
Lynn Valley is a neighbourhood of North Vancouver, British Columbia. Located at the northern edge of Metro Vancouver, it is nestled between the forested slopes of Mount Fromme and Mount Seymour. The area is well known for its natural parks, including Lynn Headwaters Regional Park, the Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve (formerly known as the 'Seymour Demonstration Forest') and Lynn Canyon Park, whose main attraction is the Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge. Lynn Valley is named after British Royal Engineer John Linn (Royal Engineer), who settled in the area after 1869. The main intersection of Lynn Valley Road and Mountain Highway is the location of the newly completed Main Library and Town Centre. The area is now known as Lynn Valley Village. As of 2007, Lynn Valley has experienced a surge in housing prices, along with much of Vancouver, with average home prices near $2 - $5 million
Recently, Lynn Valley has had a Town Centre, designed by architect Gregory Henriquez, built next to the Lynn Valley Shopping Centre, which is home to an array of shops and conveniences (including Delany's coffee house, the newly updated North Vancouver District Public Library, the Red Tulip Gift Gallery, YYoga, Dream Designs, Waves Coffee, Vancity credit union, a tanning salon, a chiropractic office and Papa John's Pizza. Starting in the Fall of 2015, Bosa will begin sales and re-development of the Lynn Valley Shopping Centre with the construction of 359 - 1, 2 and 3 bedroom condominium homes. The project is slated to have 6 concrete air-conditioned towers in 2 Phases ranging from 4 to 12 storeys. Now named The Residences at Lynn Valley, the project is expected to take 3-4 years to complete and will add over 350 new family sized condominium homes and over 50,000 sq.ft. of new retail space for the shopping centre. -
