  • Description

    Hey, my name is Kilian.
I am a high school graduate from Germany currently taking a gap year to explore Canada.
I arrived in Vancouver in October and now want to travel around more, to explore Canada's nature and culture.

In my free time I really enjoy hiking and riding my gravel bike. I often do short trips and longer journeys frequently. When I get the chance I like to go skiing. One summer I got my windsurfing licence, another I tried diving. I love swimming and other water or outdoor activities.
Moreover, I enjoy going camping. I sleep in tents, hammocks or just under a tarp. I've been on many trips for multiple days or weeks in a row with just my backpack or bicycle.
I also love spending a lot of quality time with my friends doing that, whether it's on a walk, a longer trip or a vacation.

Inside I really enjoy playing board and card games and listen to music or watch movies to relax. If my wallet allows, bowling, lasertagging, go-karting and a lot more is in the picture - I am happy as long as there is some variety.

My cognitive interests are very diverse, too. I am excited about learning about all natural sciences as well as traditional and modern technology. I want to fully understand how something works. I got a little bit into programming and also networks, but I learned a lot more about basic office programs by doing many accounting, bookkeeping and organising-jobs for my hobbies.
As an elderly scout, I help planning events an organising the club generally. I am the accountant
and a board member. With my friend I also organized the largest part of the graduation event for
our whole class, including program and content, catering, stage design and merch.
Moreover, I teach swimming from time to time or do jobs as a teamer for children's holiday programs. When I was still in school, I was a supervisor and homework instructor for our all-day-school, tutoring and entertaining kids.
In all of these jobs I spend a lot of fun time with many different children.

I can imagine a variety of environments for a workaway experience, with nice people to also spend time or hang out with sometimes. I am looking foreward to sharing experiences, exchanging cultures and hobbies and having fun (working). However, I am looking for a place with a lot of nature to explore.
I got pets myself and would love to meet yours.

  • More details about your skills

For work I am open to almost everything - from carpentry and mechanical jobs over farming especially to the tourism business.
I can imagine doing housekeeping, and watching children is something I am very comfortable with.

Before my journey started, I have worked multiple different jobs. Next to my school activities I supervised children in all-day school, taught swimming to children and adults and did voluntary work as an elderly scout.
After school I also prepared and executed a two-week workshop for a children's holiday program.
Moreover, I worked as a lighting operator for live music and as an assistant event technician.
At school, I was busy planning the graduating party for the whole class of our year, being active in the students parliament and the school's event technology team.
I am comfortable with all kinds of hands-on tools and I am good at reparing all kinds of things from your WiFi-router to your sink.
Since my grandfather owns a vacation cottage, I know a little bit about helping out there - like doing housekeeping and communicating with guests. I also made their first website.

I am a dedicated and motivated worker. My strengths include coordination, organization, analytical, logical and creative thinking, teaching and coaching, soft skills, all with practical experience.
I am very good with office programs like word or excel, know how to analyse and organise data and do accounting and bookkeeping.
I have learned to work with many different people and communicate with them. That includes reflecting on work, trying to find compromises and solve lots of problems to make everyone happy.
