I had a nice time on Teresa's farm, sharing with a very nice Spanish family and 2 Moroccan girls. We got on well once I'd settled in and managed well despite the very challenging weather we suddenly had! This led to powercuts which wasn't ideal during cold nights in a caravan but we all coped ok. Work was a lot of orange picking and looking after the chickens and Dango, who was a challenge at times but I've definately missed him! The surrounding area is nice to walk after the work is done, and you can also bus or walk into Tortosa which is worth checking out and to buy food. I'll miss everyone there, it was a good experience for me and I learned to cope better in the cold and dark- thank you!

Thank you so much Angie, Ñaño and Fafi for a beautiful three weeks not only in your home, but as part of your beautiful family. Always curious about other cultures, languages, personalities, and it was a joy to share what I could with you and learn everything I could from you. If I ever return to Chile I would love to see you all again, and if you ever visit Scotland you have a home with me. All of my love, Hally ❤️

I had a nice time back in November with Lisa, Bernhard and the playful boys. The work was quite long hours and I also filled their wood burner each evening by myself (some days twice as it had gotten very cold outside!). I cooked for myself but I could also join Lisa for their family dinner when possible. The surrounding area is picturesque, just a little tricky to navigate at first- Gmunden is very nice to visit but a good distance away so I went by bike as they kindly lent me a bike. The accomodation is very nice with a kitchen shared with anyone staying there. I had a nice time chatting to the family, playing with the kids, and learning some woodwork skills from Bernhard. Thanks for the nice stay!

My experience at Nicola's was truly rewarding. They gave me their full trust, which I really appreciated. They were very understanding and supportive when I made mistakes, and extremely accommodating, giving me lifts when needed and even letting me use their e-bike so I could fully explore the region. I also really enjoyed sharing meals with them, and the area was absolutely wonderful. I would highly recommend this placement to anyone looking for a welcoming and enriching experience.

Great experience! Martin and his family are lovely and interesting people. They get along very well and taught me the importance of family. Sometimes they shout at each other in the kitchen, but it's hard love😂 I enjoyed the beers with the other volunteers and celebrated my birthday with them. Lived in a generous apartment, never felt overworked and was treated fairly. Thank you ✌️

Alexandre did an excellent job at the English academy. The students connected with him very well from the beginning, felt motivated, and actively participated in the classes. His teaching was incredible—clear, dynamic, and engaging—and he created a very positive learning environment. His contribution was truly valuable for our students and the team.

Navee is a super welcoming person, who never says no to a plan. She is in for every activity and creates a wonderful vibe with her bright smile and positive attitude. She was always hands on, ready to help with anything she could and did her volunteer work absolutely perfect. She is responsible and reliable and absolutely perfect to be around your hostel. Unfortunately she left us way earlier than expected, but she let us know as soon as possible to allow us to find a replacement for her and leave everything organized. So in short, anybody receiving Navee as a volunteer can relax, you got a really good one here! :)

Mariaaaa =D She was very kind, helpful and friendly to everyone here at my place. She not only helped us to paint some woods, she did alot of cleaning and gardening too. In fact I named a path in my garden after her! Haha. Oh, she never had any complaints and always try to understand others. To me, she is such a brave woman to be able to travel alone at her age and do things all by herself (with such heavy backpack haha) Future hosts will be lucky to have this lovely person as their workawayer!

We had a great time hosting Ekatarina and Petr's family. Good chats, funny cooking sessions and nice mutual understanding. All the family helped around, especially installing the new wooden floor. I would definitely recommend to host them!

Sára is a wonderful, very interesting person, who lights up the room with her positive energy. She loves to communicate with people and shares a lot about her home country (gifts included! :D). Anybody working with her as a volunteer can be super happy, because she always gives 100 % in what she does. She goes far and beyond to create an amazing atmosphere for everybody and help wherever she can. She is motivated, responsible and just a perfect fit. We were happy to have her and would love is she crosses our hostel again one day. Thanks for everything, Sára!

Awesomee workaway!! :) I've stayed here for one month and a half around 4 years ago and I still think about it often. Arif is a legend, he is very easy going and he likes to work in a smart way. His family is truly wonderful, everyone is such a character and the pizzas you will learn to make are fantastic! Arif made sure we enjoyed our time and made us understand how special the island is. He toured us through a traditional village, to the waterfall, brought us to a local festival, to eat the best Nasi goreng in town and gave us a lot of suggestions. The work was easy, it did not feel like work most of the times, it felt like helping friends and family while having fun. Often we were so surfed out that everything suddenly became hilarious ahaha Nias can also be culturally shocking, it is full of incredibly nice locals however be prepared, in some occasion, you might feel like a superstar surrounded by paparazzi ahaha also the more you stay the more you see, understand and hear about "crazy" and sometimes perplexing stories, I guess it is also what makes the workaway so special. Would love to go back and see what’s going on! Hope you are doing fantastic, a big hug to the whole family :D

Sajjad came to my place on 20.10-25 and left on 06.01-26. We got along very well from the beginning. He was a great help to me during this time. He made sure that there was always firewood inside to heat the wood stove, which also provided additional heat for us. He also shoveled snow from the yard and cleaned the house. I was very happy with him. We also went to meet my relatives. Together we went to the Porvoo Christmas market and met Santa Claus. On New Year's Day we went to Askola to watch the fireworks and eat grilled sausage. I also had a small farewell party for Sajjad. I would like to welcome at my place once again.

My time at the hostel was really great and chill. I met people from all over the world, made new friends, and discovered different and incredible places in Lebanon. The work is very relaxed and the team is very nice and honest, which is very important in the world of volunteering. The owner is very nice and is always willing to show you places in the country, where to go, eat, and see. I'm really happy and glad to volunteered here. Thank you Hichan for accepting me was a pleasure to meet you and Ana.

Lisa and Phill were an absolute joy to have at the house. They brought great energy, were always smiling, and adapted easily to all the different activities and schedules. Even though we don’t usually host couples, they truly stood out by making the effort to connect deeply with our guests and our family even our little cat austero when he got sick . They didn’t just help—they became friends, and their presence added so much warmth to the experience. We’re very thankful for everything they shared with us and would welcome them back anytime.

Hillary and Rebecca are excellent workers and really lovely people! We very much enjoyed meeting and hosting them. They worked extremely hard, followed instructions intelligently and needed minimal supervision. If they are ever back in Portugal we would love to see them again. In the meantime, we wish them good fortune and happiness in their journey.

It was a pleasure to host Marco and Chiara at our family farm and to accompany them on the Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek. Throughout both experiences, they were respectful, reliable, and genuinely engaged. At the farm, they contributed enthusiastically to daily activities, including field preparation and planting fruit and spice trees, and showed sincere interest in traditional farming practices and local cuisine. During the trek, they were positive, adaptable, and considerate companions, demonstrating respect for local culture, nature, and the team. We are truly grateful for their time, effort, and positive attitude. We would confidently recommend Marco and Chiara to other hosts and would be happy to welcome them again in the future 🙏

I cannot say enough how incredibly special and memorable my stay was here during the autumn months. I miss 조 and 정선 and the farm a lot! It is located in the mountains, in a beautiful and serene area but easy to get the bus to the nearby city of Gyeongju. 조 with his hilarious jokes, deep farming knowledge and lessons on Buddhism and meditation brought so much joy to each day. 정선 with her delicious food and warm, calming energy taught me the value of mindful cooking and appreciating the small things. Their personalities are so genuine and I am so pleased to have met them. Despite challenging rainy conditions, their positive attitude made the work enjoyable, with plenty of care and breaks when needed. The work days never felt too long and although labour-intensive, it was so rewarding and fun to harvest all the different vegetables and learn so much along the way. 조 and 정선 made me feel completely comfortable and took the time to teach us about organic farming and share wonderful local experiences. I appreciated them occasionally talking in Korean to me and I understood a lot thanks to their patience :). From hiking in the nearby mountains to swimming in the local stream and forming meaningful friendships at the farm, every moment added to how special this experience was. A highlight was making Kimchi together as a team - hard work, but incredibly fulfilling to produce a large amount of kimchi while learning, bonding and laughing together through the process. This whole experience has inspired me deeply and taught me so much, making me eager to explore organic farming for a better environment for us all. I am so grateful to 조 and 정선 for the happy memories that I will carry with me for a long time. 정말 감사합니다 ! 여름에 다시 만나요!

For the last three weeks of December into January I spent a brief time at Gula and Sedat's home. Currently Gula was caring for Sedat in his sickness, and I perhaps didn't get to know them as well as other Workawayers in the past - but I tried to stay out of their hair and let them rest. During the first week there was four other volunteers at various times, and from the second I was by myself. If I could have stayed a bit longer I would have, but commitments elsewhere meant leaving after such a short time unfortunately. At the moment they could do with the help though, if anyone is considering lending a hand. In the Winter the work didn't take up that much of the day. Feeding and watering all the outdoor animals in the morning (and the dogs again in the afternoon), and giving the place a clean (the house is beneath some large trees, so a sweep a few times a day can clear the pine needles, but that's an endless battle...). Otherwise finding other little tasks helped out a bit. The Winter days are shorter now, and most days I'd either take one of the dogs for a walk, go into the village, then be in my room for dark. There's an hourly bus into Antalya and plenty of trails out in the forest to spend your time time trekking. If you could lend a hand then I'm sure you'd be appreciated here. And otherwise have plenty of time to visit the area, and it's sights. I can only thank the pair for hosting me, and it would be great if more people willing to work and help out could visit. :)
