Description
We both enjoy reading, hiking and learning new things. Hillary is a seasoned traveler who is so excited about joining Workaway! Becky is newer to traveling, but open for all kinds of adventure!! Becky is a potter by trade and has made beautiful, functional pottery. Hillary has been everything from a grocery store cashier to a barista to a business owner. Between the two of us, we have done A LOT of different jobs! We are hard workers who are entrepreneurs and small business owners. We love dancing in the kitchen, playing board games that will keep us laughing until our stomachs hurt and just having a great time enjoying life!

We are hard workers, not afraid of getting in and getting dirty or learning something new. We enjoy working outdoors with gardening or landscaping chores. We have had a vegetable garden for over 10 years and enjoy each stage of the life of the vegetable from seed to harvest. We have a good understanding of compost and organic gardening methods. We practice an insecticide and herbicide free way of gardening.

I (Hillary) am the owner of a coffee shop, so I know my way around the kitchen and have great customer service skills. I do all the upkeep on my business, such as clearing ice and snow from the parking lot, building repairs and upkeep such as painting, remodeling, etc and the daily tasks like cleaning the bathrooms, sweeping, vacuuming, and general tidying up. I have worked in customer service for well over 20 years and I enjoy the interaction with guests and customers.

Becky is a ceramic Potter and she manages her day to day business plus hosts pottery events where she interacts with customers and teaches them the glazing basics. She is no stranger to customer service and hands-on teaching. She is an excellent cook and loves to experiment with new recipes and ingredients. Becky has horsemanship skills and has had a horse for 10 years. She knows and understands all there is to having a horse, stable and barn and the day to day tasks involved.

At home, we are both comfortable in the kitchen cooking and baking most things. We are not afraid to try new things or learn new things.

Staying with Imogen wasn’t originally in our travel plans. But oh how the Universe works in mysterious and, in many cases, much needed ways.

Imogen has created a beautiful oasis in Sligo County and she has such a deep connection with her land and you can feel that from the moment you interact with her. She has a respect for her gardens and the… read more wildness contained within.

We both learned so much from Imogen. She taught us to listen to that still voice inside us and within the plant or the land. She taught us to let the land teach us and to be open to what it is we need to learn and share.

Imogen was so willing and open to drive us to various places she loved or to give advice on places to experience and see. She wanted to make sure we soaked up all we could of the area and the many things to see and do.

We had the incredible opportunity to help with an adopted kitten. This little kitten was such a needed blessing for us, as we have been missing our own cat. This sweet soul instantly warmed to us and to Imogen and the three of us became the momma this sweet kitty needed. All three of us fed, monitored the health and wellness of the kitty and of course, played plenty with the sweet bundle.

Our tasks outside of helping to take care of the kitten included a wide variety of inside and outside jobs. Imogen did a great job of communicating with us about things she needed help with and saw that needed attention. We would have meetings in the morning, not every morning, but as needed, to discuss how we were and what tasks we thought we might address and any additional tasks she had. This way of communicating was so helpful to us because it helped us to prioritize the day and/or the week.

The work was very rewarding and we learned so much!! We were able to learn and identify different types of trees, plants and weeds. Imogen shared with us her vision of what she was trying to do with the land and then we worked accordingly.

This was by far one of the most rewarding months we have had. We knew we had a safe space with Imogen to discuss any issues or miscommunication and that was so great! It was nice to have an environment of mutual respect and kindness.

Thank you Imogen for the love you gave us and showed us. Thank you for teaching us to be open to the land and what we can learn from it. Thank you for helping us to see that ALL beings are valued and important, whether they be spider beings, or kitten beings. Thank you for sharing your love of Ireland and the area, we are so grateful we got to experience all we did! You are an incredible human and we are so grateful our paths crossed.
