First time ever we hosted a family and it couldn't have been a better experience. Aga and her family turned our place into a home for everyone. Cooked a delicious Christmas meal, helped with decoration, took care of our plants, helped with maintenance and any thing else we needed them for. It was so sad to let them go and we wish them nothing but the best!

We had a beautiful time with Jennie and Saali!! We spent one week at their lovely home, we had our own studio, very cool. They have cows, sheeps, chickens, two lovelyyyy dogs 🥰 and two adorable kittens!! Unfortunately, the weather was bad so we painted every day but we were very satisfied to see how the laundry looks now!! We really recommend this place, it was a very pleasant stay, also Paul was happy to talk about music with Saali and Oscar. last thing: they're also great cookers 😃 thank you so much Saali and Jennie for having us, it was a pleasure ✨

Marjolein stayed at our place for 3 weeks and helped with gardening, building a dead hedge and taking care of our pets. She even house-sat while we were on holiday and took great care of the place. Highly recommended!

My first Workaway experience was excellent. Grant is a very kind, caring and welcoming person. I had no trouble communicating with him because he adapted to my low level of English and always took the time to speak slowly and explain words when necessary. I felt really well integrated from the beginning, which I truly appreciated. I also had the chance to meet some of his friends, discover New Zealand culture, and have a real local experience. The work was simple and the hours were very reasonable. Grant is also a very good cook 😉. So I had an amazing week. A big thank you to Grant for hosting me. I highly recommend him as a host!

It was only one week, but every single day became very special to me. Jason, Sonnyjoe, Harlem, and Zeus were all such kind and wonderful people — a truly lovely family. I was sad that I didn’t get to meet Jacinda and Kora in person, but I was really happy to talk with them on the phone! I also went to Jason’s workplace and helped out there. He let me work at my own pace, and I honestly really enjoyed pulling weeds. I already miss the cooking, Minecraft, and domino games! I would love to see you all again someday.

Kui and the team welcomed us warmly. We became part of the “Fai Fun family.” We got to know not only the staff but also volunteers from Thailand. The play activities with the children were a lot of fun. We would travel to the locations, set up the toys, play with the children for about 2–4 hours, and then pack everything back into the bus. During our time with the project, we were on the road most days, which allowed us to get to know different regions and cities across the country. Nevertheless, we also spent a few days on the beautiful farm, building toys and enjoying a good time together at the table in the evenings. … and the team took great care of our well-being.

I had a great time during the two weeks I spent on Koh jum. Helping out with the English classes in school, helping with a bracelet making workshop, cleaning the beach... The longer you stay the better you'll get to know the children and get attached because they are adorable! ^^ There was also plenty of time to walk around and discover places, interact with locals and other Travellers alike. Help out in the garden, swim, chill on the beach. The shared house is very nice, you have all you need and food is really good :) Thank you for the important work this project does on the island! I wish you all the best!

Yuho, Shota, preethi and Ai-chan gave me the warmest welcome from the first moment. I can truly say that this is one of my favourite workaways . It is located in the most beautiful place. The work was very fun for me and I learned a lot while being there. Yuho, Shota and Preeti are great hosts. It was always very important to them that we feel comfortable and have everything we need. They are also incredible people that I feel very lucky to have met. We went to the supermarket once a week and there is a supermarket van coming once a week as well. (It is important to bring some food with you when you first arrive) Every Saturday we did a communal meal where they always made sure (since I am vegan) that there is plenty of vegan food on the table. There Is a community event in the shear house once a month, and so many opportunities to learn about the Japanese culture through living it. When I was there we made mochi in a traditional way and miso, sushi and takoyaki. On new years Eve we went to the local temple and joined the ceremony there. It is an amazing place with the intent to reconnect to the roots and relearn a way of living that is closer to nature. I extended my stay twice and can't wait to come back. Yaara.

We had a lovely stay with Hiro and Sophea. They are very friendly and knowledgeable people, and were always happy to share their knowledge and experience with us. We learned a lot about coffee, cacao, farming and its challenges. Before arrival, they were helpful and easy to communicate with. Though we didn't take the package including food (as we are vegetarians), whenever they made something vegetarian, they always shared it with us to taste, which was so nice and delicious! The farm and surrounding area are also so beautiful and peaceful. It was just perfect! Thank you so much Hiro and Sophea, we had an amazing time. We hope you enjoyed having us too. All the best, and hopefully until we meet again. Take care, Nele and Gin

Wow, where to begin! Annabel (Annie) and Paul were simply amazing. They were great company and conversationalists and showed a genuine interest in what we are doing on our property. They both had an incredible work ethic and just got stuck in and achieved well above and beyond what we expected. This included Paul being an absolute machine on the strimming/weed whacking. What he achieved in a couple of weeks genuinely made me feel inadequate! Annie made hand weeding our gecko and skink garden her pet project and she did it to a standard that made my Virgo traits pale into insignificance. We made it very clear that we did not expect the whole garden to be done, as it is huge and that whatever she achieved would be welcome. However, while we were away for 10 days during which Annie and Paul house sat and cared for our dog, she not only did the whole garden, but also hand weeded our large vegetable garden! Epic (if not a little obsessional)! They also gathered up and stacked firewood from a recent extreme weather event. They were impeccable housekeepers while we were away and wonderful pet carers. They both clearly developed a close bond with our cherished Golden Retriever, Rosie who can be somewhat demanding when it comes to affection. They took her for regular walks and swims at the river and beach. We strongly and sincerely encourage anyone to host this lovely couple. You will not be disappointed! John and Fi .

Hi, my name is Hanna, I’m from Austria, and I spent almost one month at Carlos’ hostel. This was my first Workaway experience, and I honestly couldn’t have chosen a better place. Location: The hostel is perfectly located—only a two-minute walk from the pier with restaurants, shops, nightclubs, and the ocean. A bus stop is right across the street, making it easy to get anywhere, including the airport or other cities. Everything you need is within walking distance. Accommodation: Volunteers have their own area, which is great if you want some privacy. There are rooms with four and five beds, or you can choose to sleep outside. Bathrooms are shared. It’s not a five-star hotel, but that’s exactly what makes it a real hostel experience—which I love. Work: Carlos creates a weekly schedule with morning, afternoon, and night shifts. You work five days a week, all tasks are clearly explained, and the work is very relaxed. Duties include cleaning, making beds, and check-ins and check-outs. Carlos is also very flexible with the schedule if you communicate with him. People: From the first day, I felt warmly welcomed by the other volunteers and quickly became part of the community. Carlos is an incredibly kind and caring person who always tries to make things work for everyone. After just one week, the volunteers and Carlos felt like a second family to me. I wouldn’t want to miss this experience, the connections I made, or all the activities we shared together. So, if you’re looking for accommodation in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, you really can’t go wrong with this place. You’ll have a wonderful time.

What a wonderful couple. They helped so much, from fencing, furniture restoration painting gardening and many other jobs around the place. Such lovely people, they did a fantastic job of leaving the place spotless as well. Hope you pop in again during your stay in Australia, thanks for all your help

My host Laura.... she is incredible! I feel that I instantly connected with her, we really understood each other and I really enjoyed the shared meals and talks. I had so much fun with the jobs I had around the house. This was my first woofing experience, certainly not the last. I left will a full heart and will be very happy to come back and woof for Laura sometime again. Gracias Laura por todo, take care xx

This was my second Workaway and I'm so glad I decided to choose this farm. David and Annie are the best! I learned so much from them about nature, agriculture, and Vietnamese culture. During my two weeks there I helped dig up and move Jack fruit trees, weed, plant flowers, paint a bench, and so much more! And safety is always important- they provide rubber boots, gloves, and a hat for working. The food (lunch and dinner provided) is made by a local lady from the village and is so delicious- lots of veggies. You can even help her cook and learn about Vietnamese cuisine. The dorm area is really nice; I spent so much time laying in the hammocks chilling, doing yoga, and hanging out with all the amazing volunteers! Thank you David and Annie for everything, I will miss you❤️ Hope to come back one day to see how the farm has grown (and to see the kittens and puppies all grown up).

Definitely recommend Layla! What a star! :) Layla is an absolute wonder to have around. She stayed at our place and proved herself to be a cheerful, hard worker and was always polite and respectful. Every day she carried our tasks with a big smile and without having to be asked. She did a variety of jobs, including walking and caring for our dogs, chickens and cats, helping with food prep and general cleaning of the house, and she was a whiz helping to assemble some flat pack bookshelves in no time. She showed maturity beyond her years, and was able to readily step in and help with whatever work needed to be done. She was able to follow instructions without needing to be chased which was wonderful in our busy, sometimes chaotic household. We thoroughly recommend Layla to anyone who is looking for a mature minded, responsible, hardworking workawayer. Thank you Layla for all that you have done in our house, we are going to miss you dreadfully. All the best for your travels and please come back and visit us anytime :) A++++++++++++

Had good times with Sara, sharing work, activities and fun. Smart and brave woman. Challenged her with some not easy tasks and even feeling her unconfort, she did it really good. Earned my trust. Come back whenever you want.

Melvin was great to have around and he easily mixed with our teens and older family members. He was a hard worker and did good job keeping track of his hours. He did lots of weeding, chopping and stacking firewood. Our mini electric chainsaw was his favourite new toy and he would have taken it home if allowed! We’d recommend him to any host.

From the very beginning, I was welcomed with incredible warmth and hospitality. At first, like with every new host as a volunteer, it was a bit of a mystery what to expect. Very quickly, however, it became clear that this family is open, kind, and genuinely caring. It never felt like I was just a guest, instead, I felt like a true part of the family. I was also warmly included in their wider circle of friends, which made the experience even more special. Even though my English was not perfect, they always helped me to improve my language skills, which made communication even more meaningful. Life on the farm was both exciting and enriching. The projects were diverse and hands-on. The construction work was similar to classic carpentry, including finishing a sauna made of the finest cedar wood and advancing a cabin for future WWOOFers. It was also incredibly exciting to see how maple syrup is produced, and I had the chance to get creative myself. For Christmas, I was able to make a cutting board for my parents, which was a very personal and special experience. In addition, I helped with the daily farm tasks and worked with the animals, especially horses and chickens. Each day felt like another enrichment, full of shared work, learning, and genuine collaboration. Everything had purpose and was done together as a team. The food deserves a special mention. Honestly, the best food I’ve had in Canada. Fresh, home-cooked meals shared around the table added greatly to the strong sense of family and community. Christmas was a particularly touching moment. I was deeply surprised and moved to receive a very thoughtful gift for my upcoming bikepacking trip through the USA and Patagonia. It was far from ordinary. Thank you so much again. This gesture truly reflects the family’s warmth and generosity. Beyond the farm, Gabriola Island has so much to offer: beautiful hiking trails, a charming village full of genuine kindness, and countless opportunities for outdoor activities. Whether it was fishing, swimming, or sitting by a fire on the shore, there were always special moments, both alone and together with the family. The stay was so positive and enriching that I already know: this summer, I would love to return and spend another four weeks with the family. This farm is more than just a place. It truly feels like a home away from home. And now, this experience has become an integral part of my story on my world trip. 🤍
