She was a great help with various projects. Working with so many different animals was new to her. She quickly grasped what to pay attention to. Although we had fundamentally different perspectives on some things (which I attribute to the significant age difference and the fact that I've probably forgotten how I would have reacted at 20), we had a lot of laughs. I think we both learned a lot.

¡Saludos!

Aga was a calm (good for me and the other animals), incredibly reliable helper on the farm (I became ill and she supported me in the best way possible). It was simply a pleasure having her here. How can I express it better than with "I'd have her back anytime"? Thank you Aga. We keep in touch.

Judy, Nigel and Merrin are amazing people to get to know and work with, while Waitangi Farm is a special and peaceful place that you won't regret visiting... we stayed almost a month and wished we could have stayed longer if our plans allowed it. The cottage we stayed in was lovely and had everything we needed, with beautiful farm and sunset views right off the porch. The work was varied and included weeding around native trees and plants, feeding the animals, working in the garden and harvesting apples for cider making. We absolutely loved our weekly dinners and were blessed to share lots of good food and conversation with their family. We definitely left this Workaway with a better understating of permaculture and farm life, many sweet memories and a set of new friends. We look forward to seeing you all again sometime soon. Rosie and Ethan x

Christina canceled the day before she was supposed to arrive because (according to her) she found a "better" opportunity. If you're a volunteer reading this please think twice before committing to a project since last minute cancelation really sabotages project like ours and at the same time takes a way opportunities from other volunteers that we turn down in order to save your spot.

Yef was an outstanding addition to our team. From the moment he arrived, he showed a deep commitment to the project and quickly became a key part of our daily operations. He was primarily in charge of reception, cleanliness, and general organization, and he handled these responsibilities with impressive efficiency. In reception, his warm and friendly personality made every guest feel welcome immediately. He is naturally charismatic and communicates clearly, which is essential for providing a great guest experience. Regarding the campsite's upkeep, Yeferson was exceptionally responsible. He maintained high standards of cleanliness and ensured everything was in its proper place, showing great attention to detail. He is the kind of volunteer who sees what needs to be done and takes action without needing constant supervision. Yeferson is hardworking, reliable, and a genuinely great person to have around. He brought a fantastic energy to the camp, and we would be thrilled to have him back anytime. I highly recommend him to any host looking for a top-tier volunteer!

We hosted Laurine for just over one week and we loved having her stay with us. She helped me a LOT in the house with general cleaning and organizing. But mainly we got to bottle a lot of fruit and tomatoes which was a huge job. Laurine is happy, confident, and a lovely person to talk to. We loved how she interacted with our greyhounds, and they miss her already! Nothing was too much or too hard for Laurine, she made things easier for me around the house while I had to have surgery to remove wisdom teeth. Totally trustworthy volunteer, who we would recommend to anyone who would like to host her. We wish her very happy travels and she is welcome back any time. Lots of hugs from all of us xx

I am so happy to have had Imelda with me for 10 days as a workaway. She was the best!. She performed the tasks that I requested with focus and did a great job. I loved her healthy cooking and I learned some recipes from her that I will definitely prepare soon. She added positive energy to our English Book Club as we were reading a book set in Ireland so we were able to learn from here. Imelda was very independent and made the most of her free time. A very cheerful, sweet, and positive woman. I enjoyed here company when we spent time together. I hope that she will visit again. Thank you, Imelda!!!

We had the pleasure of having Joe and Becky stay with us just under two months and they were such a joy to have in our home! They are a wonderful working team, together they took on every task and did an excellent job In the morning, Becky, chopped and prepared the fruits and vegetables for the birds and the chickens Joe was by her side, giving freshwater to the birds and the chickens and the dogs In the morning, Joe would prepare the dog Food and give each of them their portion along with lots of love Our dogs loved their daily walks with Becky and Joe. I know they are being missed very much. Becky was always such a big help in the kitchen and she also prepared many delicious meals They both helped out with my things around the house Joe was always willing to lend a hand with anything and everything that I had on my mind to do and he fixed things I didn’t know were in need without being asked. Together they put together a big aviary for my Birds along with so many other things around here too many to mention There’s so many little extras that they did here that will be a reminder of our time with them every time I see it This is a very enjoyable couple to have stay with you. They make great conversation and are very kind and caring In every way Becky was a willing helper with me with injured or sick birds or chickens I highly recommend them to any host I know you will enjoy having them as much as we have We hope to see them next winter our home is always open to them

Verónica is a lovely host, she's so sweet! I felt so welcome from the first moment. She gave me a lot of recommendations for things to do/eat around the city and always made sure I was okay. You have everything you need in the apartment, good kitchen! I worked in the afternoon so in the morning I was free. The kids and teens were lovely! They are so motivated so it's nice to work with them. Had a great time in Latacunga, thanks Verónica!

It was such lovely two weeks to have Gisela with us. She is a positive and fun person to have around, and has become a dear friend. She massively helped us with preparing the veggie garden beds, digging and turning in compost and manure. She also made a new sanctuary for toads and frogs, transplanted strawberries and helped us with mortar application on the new chicken run. Gisela has great knowledge about earth care. We warmly recommend her and hope she'll come back soon.

I'm super grateful for the two months I spent in Ambato, living and working with Karen. From the very first day she really made me feel at home and in no time I was already working in the school with lots of people. The school is not big, but there are many students (both children and adults) that come by and I have been able to meet. Working with them has been very nice and, even though I had no experience, Karen helped me out so that in a couple of weeks I could already work independently with all the students. On the other hand, Karen, together with her family and her friends, allowed me to experience so many things: the carnival parade, the very first long trip with her new car, birthday parties, festivals, as well as delicious breakfasts and empanadas places. I had the chance to discover a lot of things about Ecuador and Ecuadorian people, and I really enjoyed spending time with her friends. Thank you so much Karen, I hope life will allow me to meet you again in Ecuador (or Italy)!

This feedback is a bit late because it took me a while to recover from the trauma I've suffered through their cat Cricket.... Now, 3 months and 8 super cute cats later (you hear that Cricket?!), I feel finally ready to submit it.😉 I spent 2 months at Sylwia's & Mariusz's place from begin of November until January. First I volunteered for 2 weeks which also included a house sit of 4 days. The other days I mainly helped with pointing the walls of their house with lime and sand and preparing meals for Mariusz and myself. Sylwia went to Poland after a couple of days which gave me the chance to get to know Mariusz a bit better. Like me, he can be a bit introverted and appreciates his personal space. We understood each other without the need of too many words and I felt very comfortable in his presence. After those 2 weeks I stayed on as a "neighbour" in my van for another 3 weeks. During this time we helped each other out whenever the need arose and I continued to take their dog Rudy, who occupies a special place in my heart, along for my walks. He and my dog León became best buddies over time and we had wonderful adventures together. Even the cat joined on a couple of occasions. When Mariusz joined Sylwia in Poland over Christmas I house sat for a month and enjoyed the tranquility and solitude of an abandoned village. The area is really pretty and green! You can hike in all directions, take ice cold river baths directly in front of their house or take the provided bicycle to explore the island a bit further. The house has everything you need and much more (maybe a tiny bit too much if you consider yourself a minimalist like I do). It's obvious that it has been built with a lot of love, sweat and consideration. The interior as well as the surrounding garden show clearly what a great artist Sylwia is. I wish I'll get a chance to visit one of her exhibitions one day. We didn't spend much time together but I can confirm that her food creations are a delight and another type of art equally. Both of them make sure that you'll only do things that you enjoy and really suit yourself. Instead of imposing something on you they ask about your strengths and preferences and then make best use of them. This is a very unique and wise approach in my opinion, which I highly appreciated. There's a nice private spot to park your camper van as well. If you happen to do a house sit there, simply ask them to take their cat along on their holiday and you'll have an amazing time for sure!

Sandra was a great communicator and passionate about supporting some of the women through my organization. She trained nuns how to make reusable sanitary pads to give to adolescent girls in impoverished communities. Thank you for your skills and patience, Sandra!

Staying at this place has been a real treat for the soul. I spent two weeks there together with another Workawayer, and they were filled with memories that I now look back on with a big smile. I truly wish everyone had the chance to experience life in the nature surrounding Avola like this. From the moment you arrive, you’re not treated as a Workawayer, but as a member of the family. If you’re willing to put in effort and contribute, you’ll be met with an incredible amount of love and appreciation, it’s honestly something special. Everyone is genuinely welcoming and wants to make your stay meaningful and memorable, both for you and for the people at this place. Each day, we set out on a new “adventure,” with lots of variety: preparing spaces and food for events, hosting aperitivos, painting, reorganizing, picking pears and vegetables from the garden, collecting thyme for organic cocktails, or feeding the animals. There are so many opportunities to learn and try new things if you’re open to it. We were shown how to ferment vegetables and fruits, bake bread using traditional tools, try slacklining, pottery, juggling, or dance to typical Sicilian music. A small sidenote: be prepared to leave with loads of new music and playlists. There was always something playing, and everyone’s taste was consistently spot on. The same goes for the food: everything was organic, sourced from local farms or neighbors, and incredibly tasty. The animals were definitely a highlight. I can now admit that I was very tempted to smuggle Cipollino home in my luggage (though I would have missed all the other wonderful creatures, like Nana!). On our free days, we went on beautiful outings: camping under the stars by the river, visiting nearby farms and restaurants, and heading to the beach or into town. Everyone is incredibly kind and truly invested in making your stay unforgettable. I’m very grateful for this experience and hope to visit again soon!
