    Description

I am open to hosting volunteers for 4 or 5 days or up to 1 week. Appriximately 2 hours a day (When you cook dinner that is included in your help hours no problem. Two days off per week if you stay a whole week.

Volunteer opportunities: Cooking, cleaning apartment, language exchange if you speak Spanish.

What is included is a private room/shared bathroom, and food. You can do laundry here. Cuenca is a walkable little city of 54,000 population. I live a 3-minute walk away from both beautiful nature and the start of hiking trails along the river, and also close to the city center. You can use my local bus card.
Cuenca is 1-hour train ride from both Valencia and Madrid. Blablacar is also popular here (and economical).

My primary reasons for hosting is that I have both hosted and been a workaway and it's a great opportunty to learn, exhange ideas, see different places and help help the host with something. I believe that workaway is 50/50. It should not take advantage of the worker as free labor. They should have plenty of time to explore the area. Also, it should not be too much work on the host or take too much of their time. So the guest should be independent.

Myself, (ago 61), retired, living in Cuenca since January 2025. I like to hike, study Spanish, and socialize. I volunteer at the library at the English book club.

We would discuss the tasks to be done and the hours you help before. (No surprises). I have been a workaway and like to know what my duties will be and no surprises.

A typical day would be: After waking up and breakfast, perform the chores. (examples: mopping the floor, laundry of bedsheets, etc.). If you speak Spanish, we will take a walk and do a language exchange. After that, go explore, based on my recommendations and your interests. If you need to do a lot of computer work during this time, there are 2 great libraries nearby for this. In the evening, cook a healthy dinner a few times during your stay.
Please let me know what skills you can contribute or what you can teach.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

This is a good place to relax for a while. Cuenca is not a big city but has everything you need.

Opportunities for learning in Cuenca. Museums, (most are free). Free movie screenings at the library. English book club twice a month at the library (hosted by me).

I am looking for a positive, cheerful person who likes to go out and explore and be independent. Someone who will do their tasks with energy, is not addicted to their phone and must always have it in their hand, but instead is in the moment. I will also be happy to take you for some walks and show you Cuenca. I am happy to spend some time with the workaway, as well.
