We had a wonderful stay with Sanne and Roy at their farm for 2 weeks in February. They welcomed us in their community and we got to know many kind and funny people. All the animals were incredibly sweet and feeding them was always a lot of fun. Our other tasks included clearing the attic in the barn, demolishing the old chicken coop (that was also fun), building shelves for the basement, reorganizing it and other household tasks. We especially enjoyed cooking for everyone in the evening, they were very grateful eaters and the dinner conversations never went by without many laughs. We also got to learn new skills such as planting trees, Sanne told us a lot about biodiversity and we sowed the first seeds of the year. Sanne was very flexible with the work hours and we were given a generous amount of free time, which we spent exploring the nature around and visiting bigger cities. It was great to see how much you care about the nature life and that you are always trying your best to create an environment for all living beings around you. We really enjoyed our stay with all of you and are grateful for all the things we got to learn and experience. We hope to see you again sometime and wish you all the best! Nour and Linn 🫶🏼

Iona and Phil were so lovely. They made me feel at home from the very beggining . I really enjoyed spending time with them and getting to know them and learn more about Tasmania’s incredible wildlife. They are very passionate about what they do and that truly was so inspirational. They were very kind and giving and it was so nice to share time with them. I spent time in the garden weeding and watering and I did a bit of planting. I also got to feed the ducks and chickens. I harvested berries, hazlenuts, cucumbers and zuccinis. I processed some food and made sauerkraut from there cabbages in the garden. I also made some vegan meals that we shared together. I really enjoyed Iona and lovely Emma’s food too which was delicious. They introduced me to Australian film and let me borrow some wonderful wildlife books. I got to hike around their area and also cycle. It was stunning. We also went to cradle mountain together which was breathtaking. I’m so grateful for that. Thank you so much for your hospitality, I really enjoyed staying with you both and I enjoyed all the different chores. Hope to see you in the world again sometime soon 🥰 100% recommended.

I stayed with Louise and Bruce from the end of January until the middle of February and had a really lovely time on their beautiful property. Their home is located near Pukekohe, and they have a lovely veggie gardens, fruit trees, and are surrounded by nature. There are also plenty of animals around: their two friendly Labradors, chickens, cows, and a very cute cat. It’s a very peaceful place and a great way to experience the New Zealand countryside. Most of my work was in the garden together with Louise. She showed me many interesting things about gardening, plants, and working on the land, which I really enjoyed and learned a lot from. The tasks were varied but never too difficult, and the working hours were fair. It was always nice to work outside in such a beautiful environment. One of my favourite parts of the stay was the time spent together in the kitchen. We often cooked together, which was always fun, and the meals were delicious, many ingredients came straight from the garden or from their own farm. For the first three days my boyfriend was still travelling with me, and Louise and Bruce were incredibly welcoming to both of us. They made him feel just as comfortable even though he was only staying a short time, which we really appreciated. The accommodation was also very comfortable, with a private room and ensuite bathroom, plus a small sitting area which gave a lot of privacy. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I’m very grateful for the time I spent there. Louise and Bruce are warm, generous hosts who truly enjoy meeting people from different countries. I would definitely recommend this Workaway to anyone who enjoys nature, gardening, animals, and experiencing a relaxed Kiwi lifestyle. Thank you again for everything!

We had an excellent workaway experience. We were placed at the school, a simple one hour train from the center of Casablanca. Our responsibilities were straightforward, interesting and fun! 15 minute rotations talking to students of all ages practicing their English in response to various topics. 5 days a week, at most 3 hours in one day. The accommodation is located on the ground floor of the school itself and we shared the space with other volunteers. We had an unforgettable experience participating in the group volunteer trip to Chefchaouen and Tangier organized by Harim. Bonding with our fellow volunteers on the road was wonderful. Harim, the schools, and the other volunteers are an invaluable foundation for learning to explore Morocco. Before we left, we had the confidence and know-how to make our own trip to Marrakesh. We would like to give special thanks to the teachers of the Berrechid academy. They were so generous with their time and expertise. They made us feel right at home, both in their classrooms and in Morocco. It was a privilege to learn from them and we’ll keep them in our hearts. We wish them all peace health and happiness in the days ahead.

Thank you Sheree, Guy, Ryleigh & Eleanor for a wonderful stay! I very much enjoyed being part of your family and exploring Geraldine & Timaru. Your expectations of me were reasonable and allowed me time to myself too. Thank you for sharing your home and stories with me. Hope to see you all again sometime soon! Would highly recommend staying with this lovely family. Their profile is accurate regarding work and the proximity to the Inter City bus station makes it possible to stay without a car

Gabriel pitched in and willingly helped with things on the farm. We weeded ragwort, tonnes of it, gathered and loaded logs of firewood, tracked water leaks and grazed & minded Jersey cows. Gabriel worked hard and showed initive. I would re-commend Gabriel for any workaway position you have available.

I stayed at Fifi and Mother’s place for two weeks and I truly enjoyed every moment of it. Most of our work involved weeding and clearing areas around their beautiful farm, helping bring to life the projects that Fifi envisions for the space. The work was simple but meaningful, and it felt good to contribute to something that is continuously growing. We get to taste the famous Nasi Lemak and other delicious Malay dishes too. I really adored the cultural difference and similarities of Malaysia and Philippines through food, language, livelihood, and other things. We also had the chance to join a special activity where we worked alongside college students from KPTM Ipoh to restore and clean a traditional Malay house. It was a memorable experience and a great cultural exchange. Overall, I am very grateful to Fifi for the kindness and hospitality. The experience was meaningful, cultural, and something I will always remember.

Linda adjusted to life on the farm very quickly. She willingly and actively helped with eliminating ragwort, grazing & looking after Jersey cows, gathering & bagging logs of firewood, ironing laundering clothes, dishes and preparing meals. I would highly recommend Linda for any position you have available.

I stayed with the hosts for around 11 days and was warmly welcomed at the beginning. It was also a pleasure to meet their dogs, who are clearly very important members of the household. As the days went on, I realised the experience was somewhat different from what I had imagined when joining Workaway. The listing mentions around five hours of help per day, though in practice the rhythm of the days sometimes extended beyond that, and conversations about “work ethic” were a fairly regular feature of the household. Even when the day’s tasks seemed complete, these conversations often continued, which occasionally left me reflecting on whether my efforts had come across as intended. One of the aspects I personally value most about Workaway is mutual cultural exchange. While it was interesting to hear about Australian life and local perspectives, conversations often centred around this theme, and I occasionally found it a little difficult to develop the kind of two-way exchange I had hoped for. This placement may suit volunteers who appreciate a structured environment and clear expectations around productivity. For my part, the experience turned out somewhat differently from what I had initially imagined, but I wish the hosts — and their very well cared-for dogs — all the best.

Wow, what to say. Our experience with Sophia and Sebastian was so great. They helped us a lot with the house (building a stone wall, painting, renovating our pool and much more) but also with the kids and our little baby! They are such kind and thoughtful people, always with a good feeling of how to be helpful. Communication was super easy and we had so much fun together. We really miss the time you and hope to see you soon!!!

Isabella stayed with us for two weeks helping with final preparations in the garden as we were going to be part of an the tour. She worked at weeding, mulching, water blasting the deck and general tiding up of plants and trees. Assisting Brent with gardening tasks. Isabella was very considerate and quick to offer helping the kitchen too. She appreciated and made the most of the walks and natural sights in the area. She was very respectful of us and our home.

My Workaway experience with Hiroshi is one of my favourite things I've done in my 10 months in Japan. It was my first volunteering experience, and I'm glad it was with him. Hiroshi is respectful, thoughtful, interesting to talk to, generous, knowledgeable, inclusive, and kind. In the six days I stayed with him, he showed me and two other guests around different sightseeing areas, museums, and restaurants. I saw a side of Tokyo and Japanese culture that I wouldn't have been able to experience by myself. Hiroshi's apartment is comfortable and has everything you need. He let me and the other guests use any facilities we needed and made us feel at home. The language exchange was a relaxed environment where we had interesting conversations in multiple languages. The conversation topics are very open, and the participants ask thoughtful questions about your country and culture. They were very supportive when foreigners tried to speak Japanese, but were also eager to practise English conversation. As I stayed in Tokyo for two months in total, I kept going to the language exchange and meeting Hiroshi and his friends, practicing my Japanese and enjoying my time with a new group of friends. It was a great experience and I hope to go back to see all of them again. If you're interested in seeing Japan from a new perspective, I would 10/10 recommend this Workaway experience.

Dear Karina, thank you very much for this special experience (and for even letting me stay longer :) )! I enjoyed everything: the place itself (so peaceful), you as a host (so knowlegdeable and caring), the other work-awayers (great exchange, super lovely people), your animals (just loved all of them), your garden (so many yummy veggies and fruits), the work (very interesting), the Homa experience (already changed my process ... so much easier) and just the possibility itself - to experience Chile different and not "just" as a tourist! Thank you again and hope to see you again some time (Chile a/o Europe)! Warmest regards, Andrea

Hosting Hassan was a great great pleasure. He became like a family member in a short period of time. The time with Hassan was also very productive. He takes tasks seriously and is never afraid to put his hands under the stone. He fixed the problem with my chimney smoothly, the ceiling in my parents house, fixed some electricity problems, did gardening and built a beautiful outdoor stove for my neighbour. We miss him! Always welcome back Hassan!

Thank you so much for your beautiful message, it truly means a lot! Mia is such a sweet soul and incredibly helpful. With her help we managed to do some quick tour planning together, and even though the weather wasn’t the best, her optimism really lifted my spirits and kept everything positive. We had such an amazing time together late night talks, lots of laughter, and sharing stories about our different cultures. Honestly, it was time so well spent. We’re so happy you felt the sisterhood here. Hosting you was such a lovely experience for us too! I’m also really glad the project felt meaningful but not too hard, that’s always the goal! I’m so grateful we got to meet you. Karen will definitely remember the Germany invitation! Lots of love to you and safe travels. We truly hope our paths cross again someday!
