Asnieres sur Oise is a charmig, calm, cozy village with old architecture and close to nature. At the time I was there most of the family members were away so it was only me and Fabienne which worked very well! Most of the tasks I was doing during my time were gardening, cleaning windows and fixing minor things on a bike which I also could borrow! I think Fabienne is a very caring and easy going person that cooked all meals from scratch with mostly organic quality food. She was very clear and simple describing the tasks and the simple rules of the house so it was very easy to understand. I could choose my work time as I wanted which gave me the opportunity to visit Paris every day if I wanted to. It was possible to take the bike (sometimes during the day also bus) to two different train stations that were around 10–20 min away. Fabienne is very nice to conversate with and can share a lot about French culture which makes the meals even more pleasant. In general I had a very good time and the room I was staying in was very cozy and private with a super comfortable bed! Thank you so much Fabienne for your care and this Work Away opportunity! Best regards Driton

Yufuka is a nice Japanese woman who has been with us for 12 days to help with work in the garden. An enthusiastic woman who is open to getting to know the Dutch culture. We have done various work in the garden together. That went very well. The cooperation was very pleasant. The communal meals were mainly the moments to exchange ideas about experiences and cultural differences. We are very happy with her help.

So well with Lucia and Roberto that I stayed with them about 6 months! Excellent the accomodation, with my own bedroom, bathroom and kitchen. There were so many things to do in this beautiful country house and garden, and some of them new for me: they taught me how to prune vines and build a stone wall, things I really appreciated. How I appreciated their cuisine (Lucia is a very good cook, but also Roberto with his Sicilian dishes). I loved their charm, their way of life, their friends... and the good wine of course! I've grown fond of Tuzza and Dilly, their sweet pets. We promised each other to meet again, I hope very soon. Thank you!

I had a wonderful time with Karen. We spent the time together working and rebuilding her garden outside of the rampart of the village. She will lovingly cook tasty food for you and be present if you need anything. Open minded like, we really dug deep about a lot of differents subjects :) Pleased to have made your acquaintance

It was a wonderful experience. Ines welcomed me even though I don’t speak English very well and I’m not usually used to taking care of horses. I loved being in such a Nordic and incredibly beautiful setting, surrounded by these animals. Ines is very attentive and kind. I highly recommend it!

A very talented artistic young lady who graced my space for a wonderful lot of days. This was Mira. The most beautiful smile and heart. The task given was to paint a mural – featuring Sun Moon and Kahukura, the red admiral butterfly – on my external wall of the new bach in my backyard. Mira immediately embraced my idea, weeks before she arrived and gave me plenty of time to prepare and to ensure I had the right paints and colours. So when she arrived, she was completely focussed. It was a delight to follow her creation. Thorough in the work of a mural painter, she gave me advice on how to preserve it. Which I must do soon! We shared delicious meals together and always engaging conversations. She has left a beautiful imprint and I thank her for it. Always welcome in my home. Nga mihi.

Hannah was a delightful volunteer and we really enjoyed having her stay at the Quinta. From helping in the garden, to cooking, DIY projects and looking after the animals, Hannah gave her all with everything that was asked of her and did an excellent job. She is also queen of the boardgames and as well as beating us all at Catan, introduced everyone to lots of fun new ones. Wishing her all the best on her travels!

We had such an amazing first Workaway experience with Isacco, Barbra, Sophia and Tisbe. They are such a kind and caring family, we shared meals aswell as many great conversations. We felt very comfortable during our stay and worked independently, some days we worked longer so we could work less and explore the next day! The tasks were fairly simple but still engaging, we spent much of our time mowing and strimming the grass and clearing up olive branches. On our days off we hiked around the area, there are so many opportunities for great walks around Lago Moro and Anglo Terme. The lake and mountain views from the property are incredible and all of the community around are super kind. With Isacco being a chef, all of our meals were incredibly tasty and gave us a real feel of authentic Italian food that you don’t really get in the big cities! The caravan is cosy and has privacy so you can enjoy sitting outside and taking in the scenery. Not forgetting Minnie the dog. she always wants to be fed bread, which we happily gave her as she is too cute! Her running up to us in the morning to say hello was one of the best parts of our day. Feel free to send us a message if you are interested in any of the hikes we did around the area. We would 100% recommend Isaccos Workaway, it was such a great time! Thank you again for having us and making our first Workaway experience a pleasant one!

I just returned from my stay with Louise, Abby and Blaine and it was the best first workaway experience I could have wished for. I stayed with them and all their lovely animals for a little more than two weeks and honestly wish I could have stayed longer! The farm itself is a beautiful place that feels so warm thanks to Lousie, Abby and Blaine. They've welcomed me with open arms and have greeted me with hospitality and kindness. I really enjoyed working outside - being out in nature all the time and surrounded by all the animals, which I’ve all fallen a little bit in love with. As many have said before, Louise is an amazing teacher, very gentle and patient with all the explanations. As the description here says, the tasks included caring for the animals, mucking out the stables, general maintenance work and I got to do a fun little sanding and painting job that I really liked. Generally, the work is very gratifying because you know why you do it (of course the animals) and often can see a direct result. Confolens itself is a cute, peaceful little town with beautiful hikes and walks around town and the surrounding fields and forests, a couple of cafés and places to eat. I loved wandering around town, finding spots for drawing and getting a coffee now and then. Another highlight, as mentioned numerous times before, were definitely all the meals Louise (and Abby) made. Everything was incredibly good (and healthy) and they also provided vegan food without hesitation, which I greatly appreciated. All in all, these two weeks were wonderful and I'd love to return to visit! I miss you already Lots of love Luisa :)

I had a wonderful time at this place. The place is perfect if you love nature and want to escape city life. The work was varied, and I was able to be creative and realize my own project ideas. I could also use the instruments in the music room, which allowed me to play the piano again. You should be fairly independent, as not everything is always explained in detail. Sam and Mike were very friendly, and I felt very welcome overall.

We had a wonderful time hosting Ho for about a month here on our small farm in Austria. From the very beginning, Ho was incredibly friendly, open-minded and easy to integrate into our daily life. He helped us with a variety of tasks, from farmwork to houshold chores, and always showed great motivation and willingness to learn. What we especially appreciated was his reliability and positive attitude, even when the work was physically demanding or totally new to him, or if the weather wasn’t ideal: you can rely on Ho being a very diligent person. Beyond the work, it was simply a pleasure to have Ho around. We had many nice conversations, shared meals and a lot of laughter. He brought a really good energy to the place. When I hurt my hand during work, his physiotherapy session helped way better then my usual go-to physiotherapist. We can highly recommend Ho to any host and would welcome him back anytime!

Addie stayed with us as a Workaway helper and was a fantastic addition to our household. She helped with childcare, general housework, and looking after our chickens, and handled all of her responsibilities really well. She was funny and great company, bringing a relaxed and positive energy to our home. She quickly connected with our toddler, who absolutely loved spending time with her and had a great time throughout her stay. Everything was well taken care of—the chickens were happy and healthy, and the housework was always done to an excellent standard. Addie was reliable, easy to have around, and a pleasure to host. She did a great job overall, and we would happily recommend her to any future host.

What an awesome beautiful family! I’m so grateful for the time spent with Hakon, Emilie and Skarge. They are such wonderful and clever people, kind and hardworking, nothing is a problem for them. They bring so much joy to everything they do and we miss them every day. This gorgeous family will always be welcome to stay with us any time they are in Tasmania, I wish them every happiness in life.

Joan and Urs are really great hosts and I had an amazing time on their farm. It is a really good place to calm down and be in touch with nature. With Joan and Urs, there is always a warm, friendly family atmosphere. They are always up for a good laugh and are really caring people overall. For example, when I felt sick, Joan helped me out with a herbal tea. They also offered to drive us to the bus station when we needed to get to the city, which can not be taken for granted. I'm truly grateful for the time I had there and would totally recommend doing a Workaway at Joan's and Urs' place.

I stayed with Jigear for a couple of days and enjoyed my time there. He and his family made me feel very welcome and we had some interesting conversations about the Kazakh culture and Jigear's future travel plans. Since there were no other volunteers at the time, I helped in the kitchen and the tasks were easy. A highlight for me was interacting with his mother, who is an inspiring and kind woman. I wish you good luck with your community in Albania!

Nini is a very responsible and caring person. She did all her jobs well and with enthusiasm and responsibility. She also kept the house clean and tidy, which i really appreciate. I just wish we had had a shared language to be able to communicate better.

Terasa is a pleasure to host. She worked with a smile, even though some days the rain tried to take our smiles away. She is punctual, enthusiastic and interesting to chat to. Terasa did a beautiful art piece for my kitchen. I love it so much. Terasa you are always welcome back. Wishing you wonderful adventures ❤️

Rob has been a great workawayer. It was a short stay, but I found him to be friendly, open, and hardworking. He made good and easy connections with my son, animals, friends and neighbours. I am very grateful for the visit and support with my project. Would be very welcome back

Words can't articulate how amazing having the opportunity to help Julie and her 3 sweet, creative, and adventurous kids (Alex, Cadence, and Jayden) for the last few weeks. This was my second workaway experience, but really I count it as my first that felt truly whole from communication, lifestyle, learning, and connection, each moment was special and brought such joy. Though I am from Ontario, I noticed that each family within the same culture can be quite different, and having the chance to learn the family's traditions and BC lifestyle was so unique and cool - from sea shell collecting, finding crabs, THE OCEAN, to cooking and baking homemade recipes and storytelling, it really did bring joy to learning. I learned how to make homemade Italian pasta and tomato sauce by Jayden (the quirky, imaginative, and culinary artist younger brother) was such a delight being his sue chef! To learning grade 7 fractions by Cadence or sharing stories and baking pies together (the sweet, initiative taking, creative, middle sister) excellent teaching skills when she taught me fractions again lol! and combing problem solving in different ways when we noticed the different way Alex and Jayden solved equations compared to Cadence and I - it was learning, communication and problem solving in such a fun and corporative way! Sharing car stories as Alex (the athletic, witty, and kind older brother) who was successfully getting his next level driver's licence. Having education conversations with Julie and learning more about business from requirements to stories of how operations work in a school setting- this experience came at a time where I felt my value was appreciated, encouraged, and honored. For the activities I did and how my day went, the only difference was my start time in the morning was later on their break ( their family was entering March break, so I had the chance to see both school and holiday routines). During school, I typically got up early to make breakfast - I loved cooking for their family, I made so many recipes both ones from my traditions to new dishes - and than worked on organizing drawers, cabinets, kids room, yard work such as racking up sticks, working on planting in the garden beds, making dinner, and helping keep the place tidy. I always enjoyed hanging out with the kids too - collecting sea shells, water balloons, baking/cooking, trampoline challenge. Julie is such a kind, excellent communicator, laid back, caring person, if I had any questions or suggestions she was happy to help me better understand or clarify. My day was flexible in how and when I wanted to do the work and my approach for doing the tasks - if I needed a break I was able to take one, and there was always time to get tasks done or continue the next day. She also allowed me the chance to take on a leadership role- where she trusted my decisions, taste, and ideas to implement what I thought would be best. This experience grew my confidence in so many ways from connecting with the kids to putting my ideas in action, it was so cool to watch myself grow into who I want to become - though it was only simple household helping, it had such value for me, it gave me the chance to have time for breakthrus to emerge for my art business and school idea to come thru, recognizing different views in the process, and having quality connected storytelling with her whole family. I absolutely loved getting to know everyone and truly their beautiful island and will continue to stay in touch - this whole experience summed up what I have been working towards and for - bringing joy back to life and learning by aligning values with passion, purpose and connection. I would recommend this workaway to anyone who is interested in being 2 min from the ocean, in a charming outskirt rural but town area, with a charming cabin of your own while having the opportunity to help with household tasks, for a delightful, sweet, and storyfilled family - it was truly a honor to have this opportunity.

I had a truly wonderful time staying with Gordon and Judy. From the very beginning, they welcomed me with so much warmth and kindness that I quickly felt like part of the family. The work was varied and rewarding, including construction, gardening, and all sorts of different tasks around the house depending on what was needed. Having a dip in the pool after work to cool off was a big plus and enjoying organic, healthy food, fresh from their own garden. I learned a lot during my time working with Gordon, who is not only a great builder and hard worker, but also a wonderful company to chat with in between jobs. He has so many great stories. Judy is simply the loveliest person: a brilliant thinker, passionate, and with a wonderfully refreshing sense of humor. I will always remember our conversations during breakfast, dinner, and the quiet moments we shared throughout the day. Life in the house was made even more special by all the other members of the household too: the dogs, the cats, the ducks, goats, sheep, chickens, and especially the two lovely pigs, Mr. Joe and Piggy Sue, whom I completely fell in love with. They all brought so much character and joy to the experience. Sometimes you begin a Workaway expecting to help out, travel, and have a good experience — and then you meet people who leave a much deeper mark on your life. I honestly could not have asked for a better experience, and I hope to have the chance to visit them again soon.
