    Description

I'm Hannah, mother to a 3 year old boy, 2 dogs, 2 cats and chickens! I am also the owner of a beautiful piece of land in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains, Southern Spain. I love the outdoor life, building, digging, creating beautiful spaces, meeting new people, practicing yoga, natural medicine and cosy quiet chats.
I bought the land in 2021 and over the last 4 years I have been slowly creating a green paradise, by planting trees, making gardens and small cosy places to live. I live on the land in my converted truck and self built eco house. Also living on the land is another person (male) who helps with watering. I grow my own vegetables and have many fruit trees. We are in the process of building (nearly finished) a large raised water storage, known as an Alberca.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Coming the Volunteer in The Burrow you will have the opportunity to learn skills which help support a self sufficient off grid way of life. It is a very peaceful place and fully surrounded by nature. It is very healing a land an amazing place to detach for the business of life. I live as part of a large community. With many people owning or living on pieces of land close by. We all have very individual and independent lives from each other but often come together and all want to live a similar lifestyle. We have regular events such as markets, pop up restaurants and cafes where we meet, sing, dance, chat or chill. There is plenty of opportunities to meet new people and experience a different way of living. There is also the wider community within the local town of Orgiva, full of colourful people, weekly markets and events. There are many walking routes close by or further into the mountains, small and long, if you want to spent time in nature. The coast is easily reachable by bus with some beautiful beaches and also the city of Granada in the opposite direction. It is also possible to visit some cute white mountain villages. All around one hour by car. The closest town is Orgiva which is around 10 minutes in a car or 1 hour walking.

I am looking for help and support with various projects and general maintenance of the land. Tasks include clearing the land of longs grasses, especially the water channels. Pruning and feeding the trees, working in the vegetable garden, support with eco projects, building animal shelters, watering and maintaining gardens, planting trees and making new gardens. Collecting wood for building.
No experience necessary but willing to learn and share skills is a must. The working is physical and can be tiring, but the best way to stay fit and healthy! Must be open minded and hard working. Open for a single person or a couple, willing to work alone as I sometimes I need to be with my son.
