Description
Hi! I’m Teresa and about to start my 5-6 month travelling journey! I have just graduated as a bachelor of social services, and during my studies I focused on arts and music-based methods and green care. While travelling, I’m excited to get in touch with creativity, nature, and practical work in a grounded way (outside my social work-box! :))
What brings me joy in everyday life and while travelling is being close to nature, making music, and being part of a safe and respectful community. I love discovering new places in nature, enjoying silence, but also cooking for groups, dancing, and creating together.
My current interests are contact improvisation, improvisational theatre, music and yoga. For sports I like running, bouldering, cycling and time to time I challenge myself for cold-swimming. My friends and colleagues would describe me as a positive, open-minded and sunny person, who loves long deep conversations.
I have previous volunteer experience in Ukraine and Nepal, where I worked as an English teacher and teaching assistant in schools and English-language camps for children and youngsters. I’ve also volunteer worked on organic farms in Nepal and Finland, and in a coffee shop in Scotland (while I had my exchange student time there). Most recently, I volunteered on a sheep farm in Finland, where I discovered how much I enjoy working with animals and farm life.
As a worker I naturally work in a team, and I enjoy learning new ways of working with different personalities. Clear communication, mutual respect, and creating a safe space are very important to me. I’m happy to do physical work, get my hands in the soil and dirt, help with daily routines, and contribute wherever needed. Arts, crafts, and creative projects are close to my heart, and I enjoy learning new practical skills.
During my studies, I worked mainly as an instructor with people on the autism spectrum and with disabilities in day activities, camps, and theatre projects. Inclusivity and equality are core values for me, and I enjoy meaningful conversations and hearing people’s life stories.
As a traveller right now, I’m especially motivated by simple living, physical work, creativity, and being less attached to screens. I’m comfortable with modest living conditions and truly enjoy contributing to everyday life in a hands-on way.

More details about your skills
With my travelling experience I feel comfortable communicating even without a shared language. I speak Finnish and English fluently, and have basic skills in Polish and Swedish. I’m very motivated to learn new languages during my travels.
I have hands-on experience in gardening and farm work, including working on strawberry and blueberry farms, as well as sowing and harvesting (I have had a small garden at home). Basic daily routines, cleaning, cooking and general household tasks are familiar to me and something I’m happy to contribute to. I have a sense of organizing and seeing "a big picture" in different projects.
In addition to common pets like dogs and cats, I have experience caring for sheep. While volunteering on a sheep farm, I assisted (under guidance of course!) with lambing and helped in demanding situations, so I’m quite comfortable handling responsibility and staying calm under pressure. Being around animals makes me feel at home, and I’m eager to learn how to care for other animals as well.
I feel most comfortable and happy doing physical work, both outdoors and indoors, with clear tasks and expectations. I learn best by doing, and when I’m in a good flow, I can work long hours if needed. I’m flexible and adaptable, while also knowing my own limits well. I believe open and honest communication is essential for being a responsible and reliable volunteer. :)
Before studying social work, I worked as a photographer, which has developed my creative skills and my eye for visual details. I’m naturally creative, enjoy working with my hands, and like contributing new visual and practical ideas to projects!
