Description
We love to have helpers on our sanctuary here at The Farm for Wellbeing!
We live on a property of 24 acres. It is primarily native bush land with many fruit and nut trees. There is plenty of space to walk in nature, feel the tranquility, hear the bird songs, and maybe glimpse a kangaroo or possum.
As we have 2 buildings on our land, we live in one and the other is a Wellbeing Centre for workshops, retreats therapies. The workshops are of an alternative/wellness based nature, usually for 1 day but occasionally for overnight retreats. You would stay in the dormitory (in bunk beds) in the Wellbeing Centre and if there is a weekend retreat you could stay in our house-all including WIFI .
Not help in our business. We just let our workaways join our events as a gift.
At the moment we have 25 chooks, 2 ducks and Raiter the rooster, 2 little dogs, and a cat.
All our children have moved out of home so my partner,Urs and I live here. He speaks German and Swiss but I speak only English.
TV watching is not our thing but we love watching a film on the weekend. There is a large collection of DVDs here.
If you play music we would love to experience that!
Also we love good food so meal time is important. Urs is a keen and very experienced gardner and we have lots of veggies growing here. The food we eat is wholesome and healthy, mostly from the garden, sometimes vegetarian and sometimes with meat which we usually source from farms we know.
And the wine we drink is local and delicious! :-)
Plus lots of variety of tea and good coffee!!
Rain water here is what we use for everything with a dam for backup with the garden, toilets.
As we are 10 minutes out of Mount Barker it is important you have your own car/transport or at least a driver license as there is not a bus stop nearby. .
I am a Massage & Craniosacral Therapist so if you have body issues i can help you as well. :-)
Urs is a fencing contractor so works hard and is away most of the day but we will have clear communication for you with all projects.
We are open for you to come for a 1 week trial yet normally everyone has stayed longer than they intended! :-)

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We are friendly and very community minded so know of what is happening locally. As we have raised 6 children we are aware of the needs of young people socially and personally so will accomodate as best as we can. Some Sundays we would be able to take you places of interest in the area and Adelaide.
Urs is Swiss from Basel so speaks German and Swiss but I speak only English. I am originally from North Dakota in the USA. We both have been here 30 years.
We have friends that are German,Austrian, Polish, French, Canadian and American so maybe you can connect with them as well.Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
Help
The help we need is with gardening, pruning, weeding, mowing, whipper snipping, garden bed making, cleaning, laundry, cooking and maintenance such as painting. Not all at once! :-)

We can offer dormitory accommodation in a separate house to us including WIFI and TV viewing. There are 3 bunk beds in one room and 2 bunk beds in another room. Each bed is covered with a mattress protector and single fitted sheet, plus a pillow. We have some spare blankets. There is a bath, a shower, toilet, washing machine, clothes line, and dryer. Lounge room with TV.
The kitchen has an electric cooking stove and a wood heater plus reverse cycle cooling/heating. All crockery, cutlery.
You are welcome to cook your own food or join us at our house next door. We would love to taste your cultural cuisine!!!! Cooking may be requested from you as part of the exchange. What else ...
We are quite busy here on the farm but will help you as much as possible in exploring the region, finding sites which interest you, perhaps even taking you places. This area is known for its beauty, bushwalking, the beaches are 50 minutes away, there are swimming pools in most towns. You can ride a bus from Mount Barker to Adelaide in 30-60 minutes, depending on the time of day.
