  Description

  I live on Vancouver Island, in Cherry Point. I have a separate bachelor cottage with washroom and kitchenette available for you to stay in. The ocean public beach access is about a 3 minute walk down my road. There are nature trails just across the street. Town of Cowichan Bay is 5 min drive away. I have three children, ages 12, 14, 17 and they live at my house every other week. I am looking for help with starting a small plot of crops in the yard, cooking, odd tasks, and general household duties. Could include some teaching to the children after school and with their homework. You would be welcome to put your own ideas into what to garden and I would provide all the supplies and plants as you choose. I have hosted five workaway students in the past, and I can show you the excellent reviews our family received. I am a school teacher.

  You would be included in family meals and welcome to join us in various activities. Your English language skills would strengthen. You would get to experience life with a Canadian family in one of the most beautiful places in Canada. We are surrounded by natural beauty of ocean, lakes, rivers, and mountains. You will see various wildlife both in the wilderness and sea. On weekends you can go travel up and down island as you choose.

  Help

  I would like help with the children when they are at my house every other week, mainly with cooking dinner on weekdays every other week, and helping with homework every other week. I would like help with household duties and organization. Outdoor yard and gardening help. If you are handy I could have you help set up more garden beds or do other handy work. I am looking for 4-5 hours of help 5 days a week on average. On weekends you’d provide your own food and can stay in the cabin or travel. On weekdays you’ll be able to do work in the main house and the cook dinners with supplied food (I’m open to suggestions on what to buy).

  There are many things to do around here in your downtime. Any water sport you may be interested in, lots of farms to visit, over 20 wineries and breweries within 30 minutes of here, many beautiful hikes to go on.
  If you are away for a few days you could go to some other beautiful places like Tofino, Victoria or even venture out on a long weekend to Vancouver or Whistler.
  This is a very outdoors place to live, so if you are in to outdoors exploring this is the place to visit.
