One of the best experiences on Workaway! Carole and Frank are a lovely couple and are taking really good care of everyone. Work-life-balance was excellent. The conversations during the day were so much fun. There's a lot one can learn from their life-experience and stories. Be aware that you could easily fall in love with one of the puppies Carole is taking care of;) It happened to us with little Teddy who turned our life upside down since then. Thank you for the amazing time!

Yaara is a thoughtful, calm, friendly, and incredibly talented person! She was our very first Workawayer, and we truly feel that we could not have asked for a better person to begin this journey with. She left so many wonderful things behind at our place. Because she is highly creative, she painted for us, built a firewood rack through a DIY project (which was her own idea!), and even played the lyra at one of our events. She also taught us macramé from scratch and kindly repaired my worn sweater. She took on every task with care and enthusiasm—and we are honestly amazed by how many projects she was involved in during her stay. She is also very considerate and often asked, “Can I help with anything?” She came up with ideas to make systems more practical and user-friendly, and she contributed greatly to building our volunteer-hosting setup as a whole. She seemed to truly love this place and even extended her stay twice (which made us very happy!). Please come back anytime—you will always have your own loft waiting for you here. We sincerely wish you all the best on your journey ahead. Thank you so much for coming and being part of our place!

Nilli is a very good host, laid-back, and a really good cook, he prepared some delicious meals with some home grown chillies from his garden. He is a real aficionado about chillies. Living in a small village in the middle of Bulgaria, close to nature was so refreshing and calming at the same time. I would love to come again to see how the place has grown. See you soon Nilli.

Rahul was my first ever host on workaway, and he truly made this experience a memorable one. He is such a soft and caring person, which makes one feel very safe being by his side. He is open-minded, friendly and doesn't like to rush things. So we really took the time needed to meet properly, we chatted on the most various topics (among others permaculture ofc), exchanged ideas and often had lunch together. I stayed for about one week at his place (and frankly could have stayed for much longer !). It is situated in a quiet and peaceful rural area, yet not too far away from Khajuraho center (4-5 km). This actually enabled me to have an immersive overview of daily life in this region on India. Even though the infrastructures Rahul's offering are simple, you will be provided with delicious food and a cosy shelter. I was still jetlagged when arriving, so this was just what I need to get some quality rest. Wifi worked perfectly. I had hot water to wash myself and filtered one to drink. Nevertheless, at the moment I am writing this (February 2026), the homestay is very new. There is still a lot to develop, build and improve - i.e. the vegetable garden. Don't come here and expect a fully functionning farm. However, if you like taking some initiatives, especially in gardening, and enjoy creating new eco-friendly community spaces, you might want to plan a stay here. All in all, dear Rahul, I am profoundly grateful to be now part of this adventure with you. Thanks for the chai's, the laughs and the trust !

Melania is an exceptional Workawayer. She lived with me for 6 months and helped in every imaginable way—always with a strong sense of responsibility, initiative, and care. She noticed tasks before they were even mentioned and completed them thoroughly and independently. At the same time, she brought the most wonderful mood and positive energy every single day. Melania is reliable, hardworking, and a true pleasure to have in one’s home. I give her my warmest recommendation to any host. She will be missed.

Mary is just one of the best, warmest, kindest, most loving people you will ever meet. Her heart is so big and so open. From the moment she arrived, she treated us like her kids and it was like having one of our mums come to stay. She was constantly looking after us and finding things to do around the house even when we wanted her to take a break. Her stamina easily puts us 30-something year olds to shame! She spent all day hacking away at our garden and making it beautiful come rain or shine, sometimes after several hours of walking in her "leisure time". All the food she cooked us was beyond delicious and so healthy. Mary has definitely become a part of our extended family and all four of us will be missing her for a while!

Kenjiro is a very calm, gentle, and kind young man. He is sincere and worked with great dedication at all times. He helped with garden work such as grass cutting and chopping firewood, and even challenged himself with DIY projects, despite having little prior experience. He is a quiet and modest person who does not speak much, but he is very observant and thoughtful. He often asked, “Is there anything I can help with?” When he noticed the firewood stock was running low, he quietly brought more and filled it up without being asked. His ability to notice things on his own and take action is one of his greatest strengths. He also spent a lot of time taking care of our daughter, and she absolutely adored him. Even now that he has returned home, she still talks about him often (which makes us smile). Thank you so much for choosing our place and coming to stay with us. We truly look forward to meeting you again someday.

Vincent is very friendly, warm, and naturally brings people together. He is a real mood-maker in the group. He loves cooking, and whenever he was around, it was common to see people gathering to cook meals together, share food, or enjoy snack time (he always seemed to be eating something, which made us smile!). Thanks to his voice and invitations, circles of people naturally formed, and we were truly moved by how effortlessly this sense of togetherness emerged. He also introduced a board game from his home country and taught everyone how to play. Almost every night, the volunteers gathered to play the game together, and it became incredibly lively. Those moments are deeply etched in the memories of everyone who was there at the time. He also worked very hard. While he was not very familiar with using power tools at first, he took the initiative to research how to use them properly and always did his best. We already miss the warmth you brought to the space just by being there. We truly hope to see you again someday. Thank you so much for coming and being part of our place!

I had an exceptional time in Seoul while volunteering at the language cafe! The guests were kind and for the most part eager to learn, and it was motivating to watch them improve their English. You can learn a lot about Korean culture while talking to them, which is great! Dennis is really kind and flexible if you need a certain day off. The work is not much at all which leaves you with plenty of free time to explore Seoul :) The accommodation is small but has everything you need and the location honestly couldn't be much better in my opinion. I loved the area and how close it is to the subway station. I met the most wonderful people (co-volunteers) at the house and I will cherish my experience forever. Only downside is the insane amount of mosquitos inside the house😭I don't understand where they're coming from... But thank you!!

Leo and Lisa made a truly meaningful contribution during their time with us. We learned a lot from them, both in content and in approach. They created strong and thoughtful social media content, worked confidently with Canva, and developed valuable educational materials for school children and Erasmus students around sustainability and climate awareness. Their eco-education during both a beach clean-up and a mountain clean-up was of great value, adding depth, awareness and context to these actions. Their knowledge of plant-based and gluten-free cooking was a real asset to the group, and they consistently supported the daily rhythm and wellbeing of everyone involved. Leo and Lisa were deeply engaged in climate awareness actions, often taking initiative themselves, supporting the group and stepping in wherever needed. We were very happy with their presence, energy and commitment. Their strategic thinking and insights are inspiring examples for others, and what they leave behind offers a strong foundation that can be built upon. We wish them both every success and fulfilment in all that lies ahead.

I stayed with her in Madeira for over ten days and felt very comfortable the whole time. It was a wonderful experience even though it was a bit colder than I expected. She showed me many beautiful places and helped me discover the island. I also really enjoyed spending time with her two amazing children. A very warm and welcoming host that I can truly recommend.

Johanna, Eva, Anna and Alina stayed with us for three weeks and supported our project in multiple ways. They contributed with care to our social media and video editing, created beautiful photos and posts, and were actively involved in our clean-up actions and upcycling projects. All four were self-reflective, engaged and supportive within the group, cooked wonderfully for everyone, and connected easily with other Workawayers, creating a warm sense of community. We have respect for what they brought and developed here and can wholeheartedly recommend them. We wish them all a wonderful and inspiring year ahead.

Amer was a delightful person to have in our life. He's very much on a journey and I'm happy to think that we added something to that learning. We all learned a lot about his background and culture too - he was my first volunteer from Saudi Arabia and I look forward to visiting him when he, eventually, gets back home. He stayed a few weeks longer than planned but he wasn't impressed by the cold in December here! He worked really hard and was up for any of the challenges that were presented to him - mud building, moving heavy loads around, chopping wood, putting up a ceiling, bricklaying amongst other things. We all enjoyed his company and I'm sure we'll meet again.

Nicolas was a wonderful volunteer to host. He is very hard‑working, has solid permaculture experience, and quickly understood daily rhythm of the farm. He is also a curious explorer who made the most of the local area, and his fun, easy‑going nature made him great company for everyone. Wishing him Best for all his future adventures.
