We stayed with Kate and Mike for about two weeks in March. It was the best decision we could’ve made. They were very friendly and welcoming. The work was easy, and we had lots of free time to explore the local villages and cities. If you come here, we recommend bringing your own car, cause that proofed to be quite handy. Their animals; the cat Mia and the lovely hens and roosters were an absolute delight to be around. We learned a lot about chicken-keeping, which was great. All in all, we totally recommend these hosts, it was so lovely staying there, thank you a lot!

Dear Paul and Sally, It was such a pleasure hosting you both at our farm 🙏 From the beginning, you brought a kind, positive, and easygoing energy that made it feel like having family around. We truly appreciated all your help during your stay—especially the painting of the guesthouse, working in the garden, and joining us in cooking meals. Your contribution made a real difference, and your willingness to be involved in different activities meant a lot to us. It was also very special to share time together with our family—those simple moments of cooking, eating, and talking are what make this experience meaningful for us 😊 We’re really happy you could experience the peaceful farm life, even with the little challenge of the uphill walk 😄 You are always welcome back anytime—our home is open for you both. Wishing you many more beautiful travels and experiences ahead 🌿✨

She really loves cooking. First, she made us chicken noodle soup. It was sour and creamy, a flavor we'd never tasted before. After one bite, everyone exclaimed, "Delicious!" She baked bread for us three times, and it got tastier with each batch, just as she said. When I had a migraine, she cared for me more than my own family. When she applied moxibustion to the pressure points on my hand, I truly understood what it meant to heal with touch. Then, she taught my husband how to make her chicken noodle soup. From now on, when I'm feeling unwell, her recipe will be my salvation. To suit our lifestyle, she endured the cold and conserved hot water by using the gym showers. She created her own teaching materials to teach us English because she thought about how to make learning fun. That's something I also need when I teach Japanese. Although it was a short period, her thoughtfulness and positive attitude made us happy. Thank you so much.

This was my second Workaway experience, and it was absolutely incredible—truly unique and authentic in every way! Staying with Mahesh and his family, and helping with teaching English in Tangalle and the surrounding area, gave me such a real and meaningful insight into Sri Lankan life. This is exactly what Workaway is all about. The children were amazing—so enthusiastic, curious, and eager to learn. Watching their confidence grow and seeing their sparkling eyes during lessons was incredibly rewarding and honestly unforgettable. Mahesh and his family are truly inspiring. Their dedication to both their family and the local community is something special, and you can really feel the positive impact they are making. I also loved the balance—being able to contribute in a meaningful way while still having time to relax and enjoy the beautiful beach felt like a dream. I can’t recommend this Workaway enough. If you’re looking for a genuine, heartwarming, and impactful experience—this is it!

Thank you so much Jack for your kind words 🙏 It was truly a pleasure to host you and share that week together on the farm. You brought such a positive and easygoing energy, and we really appreciated having you with us. Your help with painting the guest house, as well as supporting with cooking and daily tasks, meant a lot. You worked with sincerity and care, and it really contributed to improving the space for future volunteers—thank you for that 😊 I’m very happy to hear that you enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere, the views, and the food. We try to keep things simple but meaningful, so it’s nice to know you felt that. And yes, the uphill walk is always a little adventure 😄 but I’m glad you took it in good spirit! Agnese is amongst the most hard working volunteers we have had on the farm. She worked non stop in heavy rains all by herself most of the time. She was majorly involved with mulching our mango trees with manure. The work involved clearing bushes, digging a ring around the trees, putting in compost and manure and finally closing the rings with mud and lot of mulch. There was no other volunteer for most of her stay and she managed all the tasks with our hired labors. Everyday she would come drenched and that still didn't stop her from going into the fields he next day. Agnese is also very empathetic towards animals and took care of all our pets as well as some stray animals around the house. It was a wonderful experience sharing our space and time with Agnese and we are grateful to her for all her contributions in terms of time and effort.

Nery is very gentle, empathetic and kind person. He is a wonderful wonderful cook. He was up for any kind of tasks we assigned him. Right from planting many tubers in the field to collecting cow dung from a neighbor's farm, he showed great enthusiasm and sincerity. He also engaged our teenage nephew and cooked special meals for him and us. Although conversing in English was little difficult but we never felt a lack of communication between us. There was always a very qualitative exchange of thoughts and ideas about food, culture and life in Mexico and food industry in general. He helped us with many other small tasks such as harvesting cashews, planting veggies, arranging firewood etc. It was a joy to have him here and we are most grateful for him to engage our hyper active nephew in various activities.

Ruhi's presence on our farm was very helpful. She is very open minded and curious to try and learn new things. She did not come with lot of farming experience but that did not deter her from being involved on the farm. She executed every task with full responsibility and sincerity. Many times we saw her taking initiatives by herself in keeping the space clean and engaging herself in cooking with Sunita. She is also very empathetic. We had many long conversations about topics ranging from politics to cooking culture in her hometown. We look forward to long term association with her.

What a beautiful life experience staying with Ishwor and his family. We stayed for 7 days and experienced a full immersion into authentic Nepalese living. We both feel we learnt a lot from Ishwors mum and dad, as they go about their day in simplicity and gentleness. Such a blessed life. There is very little to no english spoken, yet communication and understanding was easy and very fun at times. We experienced great generosity when it came to food, Maya always made sure we had plenty to eat! We would definitely come back and visit!

The foundation is a place that does wonderful work with children in need. I believe it makes a huge contribution to their lives, and if you have the opportunity, you should come and help out here. In the morning, we cleaned and painted one of the school walls—though we didn't get to do much, as it rained for two days. In the afternoon, we worked with the children here at the foundation. Everyone here has been very kind; you have plenty of free time, so you can read or rest. The children are wonderful and very eager to learn. There are all sorts of things to buy nearby, as well as ATMs and places to eat if you wish.

Susanne was a lovely person. She brought smiles and laughter with her, and even after she's gone, that smile and laughter, or the happiness she created, will linger around our home for a long time. You'll find her personality are invaluable for teamwork and living together. She was cheerful, vibrant, and optimistic. We did so many things together, from creating a small garden, painting the house, gardening, cleaning, cooking, and even building a little house together. She have good skill with wood work and an experienced landscaper. Two weeks was very short for the time she was with us. I wish you good luck and happiness forever. I miss you!!

We had a fantastic month at Cresseys! She is a wonderful kind caring lady with a wicked sense of humour, and awesome stories. We helped prepare for her renovation by demolishing the pergola, lots of garden work, fixing up fences & tables, and small jobs. The accomodation was perfect & her garden is magical. Perfect workaway and we are so happy to of met Cressey :)

I had to take a long break after leaving El Guamuchil to process the deep connection & positive memories I gained. Reflecting on a place where I poured so much of my heart & energy was a rewarding experience in itself, but it also meant I couldn't share this feedback right away. My time at Juanpa’s site was a truly transformative experience that I will carry with me forever; I didn't just work there, I formed a spiritual connection with the land & the plants I helped save. Juanpa is a remarkably kind, humble, & hospitable host. I truly appreciated his patience & his openness to a shared vision; he values the ideas of volunteers & recognizes the personal effort behind every achievement. He felt more like a supportive older brother, & I am especially grateful for the walks we took & the diverse meals we prepared and shared. The energy of the village—the pure life, the street music, the sounds of local vendors, & the Holy images of Christ or others on the walls of the rooms where I stayed—made me feel more secure & created a truly sacred atmosphere. I felt a profound responsibility toward the plants & trees, & I dedicated myself fully to their care & to projects like the compost piles & the hillside planting. It was very difficult to say goodbye to the plants & to Willa, who was a wonderful companion dog until the very last minute. Juanpa even witnessed my tears on that final day. Therefore, I truly hope the new volunteers will continue to help Juanpa, to care for these beautiful plants & trees with a sincere heart, seeking guidance when needed to ensure they thrive. I look forward to hearing updates & seeing photos of the gardens as they continue to prosper. Thank you, Juanpa, for giving me the space to work with passion & ease, & for your incredible generosity. I highly recommend this volunteer site & hope to revisit one day.

This was my first work away experience and it was great! Kei was welcoming and beyond kind when I arrived, I felt at ease immediately. The language barrier was never a problem with patience and Kei was eager to learn more English. If you are learning Japanese, this would be great to learn quickly as I picked up lots of new words. When discussing work, Kei made sure to include breaks and tell you to get water. I typically worked 4 hours a day but felt no need to count. I often chose to do more as it was a peaceful environment. I painted a large mural for the exchange and Kei was supportive in letting me design it with a few of his suggestions! In the short time there I felt at home with Kei and his family. I met his wife and played a lot with the children which definitely improved my fitness. Myself and the other work away guest also had the pleasure of eating a couple of meals with the family where they showed us how to make Takoyaki and Okonomiyaki. Thank you Kei!!

I spent a really memorable and meaningful week there. The work was not too hard. I helped taking care of cute cats and dogs, gardening, cleaning of the pool, and some house chores. I can guarantee that if you work sincerely, they would respond by offering you greater opportunities. They took me to the Sikh temple, Buddhist Sunday School, and many pretty places near their town. I enjoyed special moments there and their conversation(actually, they are humorous and made me laugh a lot). I learned much from Dhamma teachings, meditation, and their ways of thinking. They brought me a deeper understanding of life. It was a true privilege to be able to learn directly from such trained and experienced teachers. They are also so kind and open to any questions. Even when I asked a subtle question, they answered me with great knowledge. I was really fortunate to spend time with them. I appreciate every moment there. Dear Dr. Karma, Dr. Tenzin, Sister. Raj Thank you for your everything. I will keep on practicing.

Raul is an amazing host. He would do anything for his friends and Workawayers. From the very beginning, it felt like one big, ongoing party until the end of my stay. His house is a meeting place for all kinds of people. They turned me into a ping pong master, and we played Uno, went surfing, and did many other fun activities. I also had the chance to help Raul by building a bouldering tree and working on various projects around his house. Many thanks for everything!

Melania is a wonderful woman with beautiful energy and a lovely spirit. She helped a lot in the courtyard by removing buried stones, extending the hedge line, and choosing and planting beautiful flowers with great artistic sense. Her work has already brought positive and beautiful changes to this place, and the blooming plants will always remind me of her. She also loves nature, and I really enjoyed our conversations and the time we shared, including a lovely moon festival visit. Thank you, Melania, for everything — I wish you all the best!
