My name is Laia, I was born in the 80's in Spain. From very young I wanted to create a more sustainable life producing food and living in armony with nature.
In 2008 I moved to Azores to finish my studies and felt in love with the islands. I realized how lucky this place is for agriculture because of the abundance of water, fertile soil and good temperature.
In 2012 I get a land in Flores island. Is a quite isolate place with beautiful landscape. To go to the land you need to walk about 5 minutes from the small village. The closest shop or bar is about 15 minutes by car or two hours walking. There is a public bus two times a day and hitch-hiking works quite good.
The land is about 3000 square meters and there is a small stone house that we rebuilt from a ruin. When I arrived was all the land covered by a single plant called "cana-roca" I started to remove it and plant many other species of plants and some trees. As well many seeds that where in the land for years start to sprout once they get place.
My project is to create a food forest respecting biodiversity and natural cicles of mother earth.
There are already some veggies adapted that grow naturally and seasonally.
Now I'm traveling for more than a year but in this time was always people living in the house.
I'm looking for someone preferibly a couple who want to live there for at least few months in exchange of taking care of Tika the cat.
Will give preference for those who want to commit longer and who want to be involved in the garden and other projects on the land.
Is very important to me to have good communication with the persons who are gonna live in the house so we can trust each other and make the decisions together.
I'm open to find someone who want to stay there permanently maybe for a year or two. And be autonomous there.
My goal is to share the land with more people so we can create an small community and working together. There is another ruin to rebuild and more land to work on it that a friend bought. We could make some cabins or install a big tent or a yurt so we can be few people comfortable there.
Please notes that is a place where the nature is strong, some times is windy, foggy or rainy for many days. Is perfect for creative or spiritual process.

Living a day by day life in a farm from the beginning you learn that we need to work a lot thinking and doing experiencies with our hands to create variety, balance, comfort and beauty.
There you can experience how to live with less stuff, less comodities but so much of beautyness and calm.
If you are interested in experience this kind of life or to know more about the place please contact me, I Will be happy to answer your questions.
I'm looking for someone who want to live there and take care of Tika while I'm away. This is the more important help I need.
You will be free to make your own experiences there with the garden, landscaping, building stuff...
Would be great if you want to develop some of the many projects are there to do.
I can send money for the animal food and as well for material if you like to build something and we agree. There are still many projects to do and I'm open to hear about your ideas.

Is a small lovely stone house about 24 square meters with a green roof. The house is divided in two floors and both with a door to outside. Upstairs is a living room with a big window looking the ocean. There is a couple bed and few bamboo shelves, a table and some chairs. Downstair there is a wood stove with the pipe that go throw upstairs before leaving the house so all get warm. As well a Kitchen with a gas burner and a small fridge.
We have already solar powered electricity! We can charge computers, using electrical tools and a fridge.
The next project is to make a cabin for the show and a compost toilet.
Some times we run OUT of WATER for few days or weeks.keep calm, bring bottles and wait for the water come back.
We could build a reservoir to have supply when this happen specially in summer time.
You can go hiking, camping, diving and other nature sports . And you will not get tired of admiring the beauty of the island and how people live here. I can explain how to move, what to do or what to do. You also can make barbacoa in the beach, meeting sailboat and travellers or going to the local festivities and meeting the local comunity.
